The best game in the franchise and amounts to everything the development team has aspired to so far. It's something that needs to be experienced to be truly enjoyed, just like a masterpiece.

Leave it to TT Games to save the day once more with the Marvel license. Lego Marvel's Avengers lives up to the same level of appeal as Super Heroes did years ago, but expands upon it with some fundamental new combat ideas and an overload of content to unlock. Sure, the voice acting may not always fit, and there may be a few visual hiccups here and there, but this crew still saves the day in the end – and that's what counts.

After the glorious Lego Dimensions every “classic” Lego game is a step back. But within these boundaries Lego Marvel’s Avengers is still worth your time.

Just great action, a love of superhero cinema, and not one overpriced level pack in sight. [Apr 2016, p.82]

Combat in this instalment is far more fluid and exciting, characters are unique in design and there are plenty of abilities spread throughout.

Gameplay is as captivating as ever, and the couple of improvements manage to fit quite well into the established recipe. However, there are some noticeable downsides relating to the voice “acting” not to mention the design of some specific stages that feel rushed or confusing.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers keeps all the aspects of the last titles in the franchise, for better or worse; parents and kids will love playing it together, but a renewal of the series is now long overdue. Especially when titles like LEGO City Undercover and LEGO Dimensions showed us TT Games is capable of doing much more.

As a whole, LEGO Marvel's Avengers is a polished and positive adventure, but also a sign of exhaustion in the current formula. Even the biggest fans have to admit that another clone can't bring the same level of enjoyment. Perhaps it's a time for a decent evolution and a new direction.

In conclusion, this another Traveller's Tales LEGO game, with all the baggage that entails. As an example of the breed, it's a very good one, but the age of the model is now starting to show and some sort of revolution (rather than a gradual evolution) must now be overdue.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers is clearly the best MCU movie adaptation to date. That being said it unfortunately isn't the best LEGO title. The game is fun to play and respectful to the source material but sadly doesn't feel as epic as it could have been.

Despite its casting issues, Marvel Avengers is a decent enough LEGO romp — better than the disappointing Jurassic World and Batman 3: Beyond Gotham but not quite as good as Marvel Super Heroes. Fans of its spandex stars should certainly suit up. The rest of you might want to wait for another hero.

Where last year's LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham proved that there's still life in the LEGO series, LEGO Marvel's Avengers is proof positive that cracks are beginning to show in TT Games' once bulletproof franchise. A severe lack of variety lets the side down, indicating that it's high time the LEGO series receive a much-needed shot in the arm.

Ultimately, LEGO Marvel's Avengers delivers plenty of fan service, but it fails to top its predecessors. Instead of something new and innovative, LEGO Marvel's Avengers is a by-the-numbers sequel that scratches the LEGO itch but doesn't offer much more than that. It's also the easiest LEGO game yet.

LEGO Marvels Avengers is the worst LEGO-game in years. The game is colourful and fun, but the story is crap such as the puzzles and the glitches.

The 'Lego' games have always been a known quantity, but perhaps familiarity is beginning to breed contempt. 'Lego Marvel’s Avengers' wasn’t able to hold my attention as well as its forebears, even though it’s not a markedly different experience. Perhaps it’s time for the series to get a shot in the arm.

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers still boasts enormous amounts of content, and those that have not grown tired of the formula will find plenty to justify their money. Still it feels like the series is on autopilot and with LEGO Dimensions still fresh in everyone’s mind it can be hard to justify spending another full sticker price for what feels like a rehash.

It’s a tried-and-true formula that’s showing its age overall and will soon be in need of an overhaul, especially in this era. LEGO itself seems to realize that, too, and it’s laid a new template down for all its titles with last year’s Dimensions title.

Playing through LEGO Marvel's Avengers may trigger the sense of déjà vu if you've experienced any past games in the series. There isn't anything new to see here, and the franchise really needs a serious revamp if it's going to continue.

You collect studs and bricks to unlock levels, characters, vehicles and more. Then besides that you have the levels which are based on scenes in major Marvel movies.

Since LEGO decided to use big hub worlds for their games, the levels have become less interesting. It's less about solving puzzles and using interesting gameplay mechanics but more about mashing the X button on everything.

On the upside, the hub worlds are amazing if you are a fan of Marvel and LEGO. It's fun to collect the golden bricks and characters in the city to unlock even more characters from your favorite Marvel movies or comics, although they could have been more creative with the characters instead of making a million versions of Iron Man.

I do recommend that you play this game with someone else in split screen, cause it makes the game so much more fun. Especially if you're playing with your child or your younger siblings. It's the perfect way to introduce them to the Marvel Universe.
