Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris’s new mechanics and graphical improvements make it a must-have for any couch co-op fan.

A great adventure. With the complex puzzles, enjoyable gameplay, and exquisite world to explore, Crystal Dynamics once again gives Tomb Raider fans an exemplary addition to the acclaimed series.

It doesn’t do anything drastically different than the previous game, but more of the same is never a bad thing when the first was such a hit. For clever puzzles, simplistic yet intense action, interesting boss battles and fun co-op, it doesn’t get any better than this.

While certainly not a successor to the main Tomb Raider series, I think both fans of action and platforming puzzlers will get some enjoyment out of this one.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was a sleeper downloadable hit of 2010. Crystal Dynamics have unquestionably done it again as Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is quite easily one of the best twin stick puzzle solving cooperative action games we have seen on next generation consoles to date.

A solid and entertaining co-op experience, getting more complex with the increase in the number of players connected. We loved its focus on puzzles, something the main Tomb Raider series lacked lately.

The real treasure in Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris wasn't Lara’s story, bipedal alligator warriors, or a bounty of gems, but solving complex and varied environmental puzzles with friends.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is a great adventure with loads of replayability. It’s much more fun to play with friends, but you can still get some mileage out of solo play.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is not going to win any awards for originality, but when it comes to pure fun and adventure, it’s not often you get this type of experience at this time of the year.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris has its limitations due to the dungeon crawling style of the game, especially in the presentation department. However, it does a great job with bringing some fun puzzle solving, competent enemies and level design, as well as a strong leveling system that motivates the gamer to keep going.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris's temples and puzzles are fantastic, but I found myself wishing for several more hours of gameplay.

A chaotically silly party game that’s spliced its DNA with a dungeon crawler and a twin-stick shooter.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is a solid evolution of the formula established in the original, and does a fantastic job of encapsulating the old Tomb Raider atmosphere and presenting it in a smaller (yet no less involving) world. The platforming may occasionally annoy, and it isn’t the longest game around (even for its price bracket) but it’s an absolute blast to play either alone or with friends.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris’ action feels like a standard twin-stick shooter should, and most of the puzzles manage to remain compelling even with four players in the mix.

Given issues like the poor loot system and the occasionally awful camera, it's amazing how quickly and thoroughly Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris turned me around from my initial lukewarm feelings.

Huge fun with friends and enjoyable on your own, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is a strong follow-up to Guardian of Light. It might retread a lot of old ground from its predecessor, but it also offers enough twists and interesting puzzles to keep you playing for a good few hours, making it well worth excavating and dusting off.

Another fun twin-stick-shooter romp for Lara Croft, Temple of Osiris finds a way to go bigger and better in most regards, but four-player co-op was just too much on my TV screen—this one would’ve been better off with only two main characters instead of four.

The tombs themselves would be good enough to carry the game without challenges, but they add an extra layer of difficulty for completionists. If nothing else it should make for some exceptional Twitch runs.

It's not the revelation that Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was--it's a bit too glitchy and dated to herald it a new classic, in spite of the welcome addition of four-person online play.
  20. Guardian of Light felt like a nice little change of pace for the ailing Tomb Raider franchise when it arrived in the summer of 2010, and Temple of Osiris is a capable and – thanks largely to some great puzzles – fairly enjoyable extension of that experience.

Still, The Temple of Osiris is a welcome throwback, and for the five or six hours it took me to barrel through the campaign, the rest of the world blinked away as the sands swept in and the ancient machinery started to turn.

Not as compelling as its predecessor, but as a four-player alternative to the Lego games this an enjoyable enough attempt at a Tomb Raider lite.

It's a fast-paced action puzzler, energetic and accessible; and while it does stumble in a few places, it manages to deliver the sort of lowbrow entertainment it promises — just the way a series borne of classic pulp serials should.

Despite issues with some of the puzzle designs, there’s a lot to enjoy on your own, and even more so in local 2-4 player co-op where the inclusion of additional players freshens up the design and gameplay. The major glaring fault in this package is how its online features have been implemented, with strange bugs and forceful overwriting of campaign progress.

Lara Croft and The Temple of Osiris has a lot of great ideas running behind it, but the execution fell a little short.

There's little that pushes it beyond Guardian of Light, while the co-op is feeble and plagued with technical issues. [Feb 2015, p.78]

Temple of Osiris is in fact a replica of a previous gameplay model. The lack of any unique features provides fun for one, easily forgettable evening.

Not a bad game, it’s just not a great one. The singleplayer game brings nothing new to the franchise, and in some ways even feels like a step backwards from Guardian Of Light. As a multiplayer game it takes on a different and welcome dimension, though for every great moment, you can expect equal frustration.

While Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris fails to sparkle in single-player, it really comes alive when two or more players join the mix. Working together to solve puzzles and navigate tombs is good, but selfishly screwing over your friends in pursuit of the best treasure is great.

Stay well away from this if you can't play in co-op. Even then, the best you'll find here is a game that is painfully average. [Issue#120, p.69]

It’s often said that co-op makes any game better but in this case, co-op is the only way to glean any enjoyment from the game at all. Played alone, Temple Of Osiris struggles to evade box-ticking tedium and it’s only when confusion and banter come into play that it’s even worth considering.

This is not a first person game but, a top down (2.5) type of game. If you like those Lego type of puzzle games or just enjoy the constant barrage that a hack and slash type of game brings then you will like this game. I have not had a chance to play the co-op mode (up to 3 additional local or online) but it looks like fun. In co-op mode you can work together and then turn on your fellow adventurers - seeking their death for the treasure and points. Apparently, adding more players just doesn't make the same levels harder (e.g. the standard more monsters to deal with) it actually rearranges the levels (but, like I said I have not played co-op yet) Another nice feature it that Osiris will allow to change both the time of day and current weather you are playing in and in turn these affect the type of enemies that you have to deal with. However, if you had a choice between this and Diablo (the hack and slash king) I would chose Diablo. Osiris does have more advance and rewarding puzzles but, it's story is not as complete and fulfilling as Diablo III. Full Review »
