    L.A. Noire was a unique game that deserved a second chance. My biggest hurdle in recommending this version though is the price. Sitting at $40 on XB1 and PS4, and a whopping $50 on Switch, that is a financial pill that is hard to swallow, especially when I can snag the 360 or PS3 versions for under $5 at any local used retailer.

    New version of L.A. Noire does not disappoint but at the same time it does nothing to make me love this really good game some more. This remaster is just fine - nothing more, nothing less. It offers fancy things like HDR and 4K but there's nothing really new, so if you already own L.A. Noire, skip this version.

Noire first came out in 2011 I fell in love immediately with it and it offered me a fantastic time, so as you can imagine I was very pleased when the remaster was announced. Thankfully as far as remasters go L.A. Noire is a very good addition and whilst it doesn’t have major changes you can definitely see the improvements that have been made. What makes L.A. Noire stand out is its detective style gameplay and once again it shines through brightly here and at times it can feel more responsive than before. I also noticed that the gun mechanics in the game had seen some improvements, and the more fluid action makes the guns make more of an impact. The biggest change in the game is when you go into interrogation mode and the changes to this mode are very good because it makes interrogating a lot less confusing, which means you don’t get frustrated at all. I did however get a little frustrated when it came to the photo mode and the main reason for that is that it puts too many restrictions on the mode. I was also hoping for some changes to the open world, but unfortunately that didn’t happen and it can still feel lifeless in some places. They have however included more collectibles for you to collect and this definitely gives the game some replay value, which is great because once you start playing you don’t want the fantastic story to end. The presentation side of the game is better than ever. Visually the game has seen some significant improvements and at times can look great. The sound design has also seen some improvements over the original and everything sounds clearer and on point, which is great. At the end of the day if you were a fan of the original L.A. Noire then I fully recommend that you get this version and play it again because in my opinion it definitely does enough to warrant a purchase again. If you’ve never played L.A. Noire before then you’re in for a treat and I recommend that you play this version of the game because things are more crisper here. As far as remasters go it’s a pretty decent affair and once again L.A. Noire gets a massive recommendation from me.… Full Review »

    Considering the hellish development this game went through its a miracle the game is as good as it is. While nothing to blow your socks off the main story was compelling enough to keep me interested. And the actual detective work off putting all the pieces together and solving a case was very interesting if not always engaging and is definitely something id like to see explored in a similar game or a sequel if such a thing could even happen now. Where the game lacks is in any sort of compelling side actives or good gunplay and an ending that left me disappointed. L.A. Noire is a very flawed game but if a big open world detective game interest you its defiantly worth a try. just be warned that what game play you do get you'll probably be sick of it towards the end.… Full Review »
