The MasterChief Collection was all I wanted. Replay old memories with new graphics and sound effects. The new cinematics really adds up to the game. Plus, you have all 3 other games with it. It's a very good deal overall for only 60$. It's a must have for your game collection on your xbox one.

The only thing negative things are maybe loading that are too long, sometimes some FPS drop

4 legendary games, 1 beta for halo 5, 100 multiplayer maps and halo nightfall series, this is just too much for only 60 bucks.
freaking 10 out of 10 because of the value for the money.

The re-release of the main four Halo games isn't just a scheme to generate big revenue for Microsoft, the Master Chief Collection actually revitalizes each Halo game and makes multiplayer fun again. With an excellent matchmaking system that taps into just over 100 maps (106 total if I'm not mistaken) and a clever playlist system, there will be no shortage of fun and no abundance of redundancy from playing the same starter list of maps that most games suffer from. If you've played Halo and enjoyed it, this is the easiest recommendation anyone could ever make. If you've never played Halo or were too young to have gone back and played the first couple of games, you owe it to yourself to see what made this franchise what it is today. It's Halo 2 that gets the "anniversary treatment", so you'll notice the biggest jump in visuals there. It doesn't hurt that purchasing this collection also nets you an invite to the Halo 5 beta and the Halo: Nightfall mini-series produced by Ridley Scott. Expand

The redone Halo 2 cutscenes look beautiful and it was a pleasure to play through the campaign again. For that alone and the multiplayer (which features more then a hundred maps!) halo-veterans probably would enjoy this collection.
I also recommend this collection to anyone who has not yet played any Halo game and is looking for a way to change that.

You really gotta laugh at the kids giving this 0. This is the definitive halo experience so tastefully done that I almost can't believe it. I'm in love all over again. Hours of well packed content ahead of me... I am as giddy as I was when I first played halo. thankyou 343i, for treating my favorite franchise with such respect.

The game often studders in frame rate, suffers from some desync, and Audio stuttering as well loading into games. The Black overlay that fades out once into a game looks shoddy and done by an amateur as it doesnt cover all the screen and leaves lines around the outside very clearly.
At Launch, this will be constant frustration for mutiplayer, but i would assume they will work quickly to fix these issues, still a Launch of a game is the most important time and to have microsoft backing you with server support and to still have these issues...Its a bit of a disgrace.

10's on this game are unacceptable. I don't care how much of a nostalgia boner it gives you. Multiplayer literally does not work, and its been three days. This is unacceptable as I have been able to get into a match for that time. Just ended up selling it and getting CoD:AW but it looks like its having similar issues.

Complete and utter failure. Game is broken and unplayable. The matchmaking is not what we've become accustomed to with what we had in Halo games by Bungie. 343i is a disgrace.

the multiplayer is broken- you can't see your friends online, you can't join games, i can't even get into a multiplayer game by myself. so unless you want to play the campaign why buy the game until they fix it?

I inserted the game and waited three hours for the massive 88 gigabyte download to install. It allows you to go into the game until its fully downloaded only to get your hopes up of playing. The next day after 8 hours of downloading I was finally able to play. I tried to invite my friends to a party and it didn't work. So I tried again. And again. We ended up playing only 2 games in 2 hours. Do the difficult math and that is one matchmaking game an hour. I had more fun just using the xbox as a cell phone to chat with my friends and make jokes while we endlessly tried to get the game to work. I miss the good old days where 16 people could connect with ease. Now all I do is accept an invite to connect and not connect. What is the point of inviting someone if it doesn't even work? I would rather play solo Sunset Overdrive than try to play multiplayer Halo. You should never hear anyone say that in your life. If you don't believe me then go see for yourself. Go try to connect to a game of team swat, after 45 minutes of waiting come back on and post for yourself. If you can prove that you played 3 games in 45 minutes then contact me and I will personally give you 100 dollars via Paypal. That is how confident I am. The only reason I rated this game a 3 is because of the legacy. Back to Call of Duty and Destiny whose makers actually do things right. Expand

Most frustrating gaming experience ever. Took forever to install. Many of the original mechanics are broken such as crouch jumping in halo 1. Matchmaking just doesn't work. Can't they figure this out with a closed beta??

Halo is on a decline and the master chief collection shows that. Halo 1 and 2 as good games show the how forlorn halo 3 and 4 are. Still halo 2 doesn't even run at native 1080p.

I can now see why TLOU: Remastered received a much higher score than the Halo: Master Chief Collection on Metacritic.

Quality over quantity. Then again, TLOU has plenty of content as well. Halo is just too outdated in this day and age. Let Halo 5 be the sand to cover up the grave that is Halo.

Definitely worth buying if you've never played halo because of how much content comes on the disk. Otherwise I would say pass unless you're a die hard fan...in which case you've already bought the game... but whatever.

I have never understood the whole halo franchise personally I have played each game and although I thought they were good games I was far from blown away. The presentation upgrades are pretty standard, halo 1 and 2 have had the most substantial upgrade with higher resolution textures and running overall at higher resolutions, however I could tell straight away that halo 2 was not full hd and I was a little disappointed by the muddy and overall clarity of the graphics, however the sound is excellent and the soundtracks are some of the best I have heard in a game. Now the multiplayer...not a fan, the shooting mechanics are stiff and outdated but all the halo fans insist they want it untouched but after playing the halo 4 beta it seems they have finally done right thing and stopped listening to all the nostalgic fans. If you haven't played a lot of halo multiplayer in the past expect a complete grind of an experience I recommend just playing the campaign modes and find another multiplayer shooter. Expand

6 months in, still not on dedicated servers.

For many that was a BIG SELLING point.

For others, it was just a Betrayal. Which, coincidentally, seems to have sped up the Halo 5 respawn timer, which it clearly should have delayed the respawn of another Halo title. It's little inaccuracies like these that make me think they don't play a lot of Halo.

    Multiplayer:

I purchased this game in February, after I heard most of the initial release bugs were taken care of. However, with regard to the main reason I purchased this game, the multiplayer, I was severely disappointed. I am competitive gamer, meaning, I derive gaming pleasure from a ranked multiplayer experience. At the time I was playing from February to April, there was only ranked halo 2 team slayer. The ranked playlists were plagued with a plethora of issues ranging from the inability to spawn (when other players were, enabling them to get free spawn kills and take control of the map), games randomly ending, an unbalanced matchmaking system (a group of 1s and a 7 against a team of 10s and a 12), and no punishment for those who quit. These are just a few of the flaws I found. 343 kept promising patches, fixes, etc, however, it seemed like the patches never really fixed anything. Up until late April, I continued to play and rank up in halo 2 competitive slayer. However, a few weeks ago, 343 said they were resetting all ranks in halo 2 team slayer and adding another patch. So, all the time and work I put in to reach level 33 (not high, I know, but I put in a lot of time), was erased overnight. For what reason? I don't know. I continued to play, but, it seemed like the patch had fixed nothing. The multiplayer was still plagued by the same issues, and, there also seemed to be an issue with host lag (which hadn't been prominent before). As such, I lost all interest in the game. With regard to patches, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

On a separate note, I had to re-install the game twice (bought a digital copy). Two or three times, xbox one wouldnt recognize that I owned the game. So, I had to re-install (which took a few hours). I'm not sure if this was an Xbox One issue, or a Halo Master Chief issue; regardless, it added to the unpleasant experience.

    Single Player Campaign:

With regard to the single player, I didn't have any problems. That's the only part of the game that function properly.

    Conclusion:

Save your money if you're in it for a competitive multiplayer experience.

The single player has great story, gameplay, and the graphics look great on halo 4 and halo 2 anniversary. The single player is near perfect. The one complaint I have is that in halo 3, the graphics are dated, and i know, graphics aren't everything, but it is a bit of a jump going from the gorgeous graphics of halo 2 anniversary to Halo 3. But Halo 3 does have, in my opinion, the best campaign.

The point is, the multiplayer doesn't destroy the experience. IGNORE ALL OF THE 0/10s. It has great split screen gameplay, and outstanding campaign.
