The best playing halo game yet. Campaign isn't the best in the series, but the multiplayer is better than any other FPS on the market. It more than makes up for the campaign.

I've played EVERY main Halo game. Other than ODST and Reach, this is my favorite single-player Halo. Combat is fast-paced. Graphics are gorgeous. Your AI teammates are actually useful when you need to be healed. There are only 2 downsides I can think of: 1) The story is a bit weak, but I wasn't expecting much after Halo 4, and 2) I wish there were more missions with airships and battle tanks.

And the campaign is not at all without it's memorable moments, including the end of a particular story arc that has been a long time coming. The end while a massive cliffhanger, but despite what all of the angry trolls giving the game 0s and 1s will tell you, it's no worse than Halo 2, which this game has many similar problems to, particularly involving the advertising and story. And despite what aforementioned trolls keep bringing up about the time spent as both Master Chief and Agent Locke (Chief having 3 dedicated missions to Locke's 12) Chief's missions are about three times as long as those of Locke, and since 3 of Locke's missions essentially boil down to interactive custscenes that can be competed in under a minute, the playtime actually evens out.

On the other hand Multiplayer is better than ever. Halo's classic with a solid mix of both competitive and casual modes with more of each on the way (Shotty Snipers was last week's "weekend social playlist" and Big Team Battle is being added this week, along with another Weekend social playlist") The online netcode is stellar, and dedicated servers for all playlists and custom games is an absolute blessing on console. A few flaws with multiplayer do come to mind. Several playlists (particularly Free For All, SWAT and Warzone) have horrible spawns. And Warzone, while a great concept still needs some tweaking, since even the slightest bit of momentum from one team often turns the game horrifically one-sided, And warzone assault in it's current state is just bad. These maps were not designed for invasion scenarios. That being said the vast majority of multiplayer is still excellent and provide tons of replayablility.

Lastly a topic of note are the micro transactions, They are not invasive at all, You can earn even gold rec packs in only a few games making buying them with cash hardly worth it.

I'll premise this review by saying that it's very optimistic. Halo 5, as is, is incomplete. The multiplayer lacks most (almost all) its game modes- even Halo classics like Oddball, Big Team Battle, Griffball and Infection. And an even greater sin- the game launched without Forge. Halo 5, as is, is incomplete. The multiplayer lacks most (almost all) its game modes- even Halo classics like Oddball, Big Team Battle, Griffball and Infection. And an even greater sin- the game launched without Forge. I'm willing to forgive all that with the assumption that, sooner rather than later, these modes will be brought into the game. And in a way, that will give me more reason to return to the game and extend its life. As is, the game has an unprecedented lack of content on the multiplayer side (for a Halo game). I will come back and change this 9 into a 7 if these features don't eventually become available. Another caveat is that Halo 5 has no splitscreen, and while that deffinitely sours my experience (I'm one of those constant screen splitters)- I haven't let that affect my review.

So...! What can I say about Halo 5: Guardians? Well, it's certainly the most refreshing, new entry in the series since Halo 2. The gameplay is crisper, smoother than ever before. The new mechanics fit perfectly within the Halo sandbox- and I know that years from now when I return to the Master Chief Collection and try to Spartan Charge, it'll feel extremely outdated. The weapon sandbox is probably the best in the series, though it's a little disappointing that there are only two or three new weapons (though in their defense, most of the Forerunner weapons have been changed entirely and feel much more unique), and the vehicles are just as good as ever (though time will tell if they're any good in multiplayer- we'll have to wait for BTB since Warzone isn't the same on that front). The enemies are without a doubt the best in the series- somehow, 343i has managed to make the Prometheans exceed even the Covenant in the fun factor, challenge and uniqueness which is just fantastic. Aside from the overused Warden enemy. The Campaign features some amazing battles and scenes that take Halo 3's Scarab to a whole new level, and the level design in each mission is just amazing- full of choices and replayability. I haven't had this much fun with a Campaign since Halo 3. The multiplayer has to be the funnest, most competitive in the series as well and as soon as it gets more content it'll easily surpass every previous entry in the series.

Storywise, I came into this game expecting pure crap (which is what the reviews were saying) and was pleasantly surprised. Maybe that was because I already read the books and already know Blue Team and Halsey's backstory- but nothing about the story felt jarring until the ending. It's safe to say there's a whole big element in the story that 343i hid away in the promos that just doesn't make sense with what we saw before- one character here is so different, and you don't even get a hint at the explanation of why and what changed. It also feels a little like the new Spartan team Osyris was shoehorned, or that the original aim for the story missed its mark. The whole Master Chief vs Locke rivalry is almost nonexistent- so don't come with big expectations on that front... But as I said I was pleasantly surprised by many things. I loved how 343i handled Halsey, the Infinity crew and the Elites. I loved how 343i handled the short arcs on Meridian and Sanghelios- each feeling like a separate act in the game and above all I love where the story is headed- even if the way 343i took us there could have been better (especially pertaining to a certain character which I won't mention for spoiler reasons). One more thing about the story: the whole game is a first act of a larger storyline which will hopefully conclude in Halo 6. That means it ends in a massive cliffhanger. I personally don't mind cliffhangers, and sometimes even like them, but I know others will be angry at this.

Another thing I'd like to touch is thr graphics. They're by far the best in the series, and that's especially easy to see in the Sanghelios missions- which are downright beautiful. This is the first Halo game where I feel like I'm stepping into an actually alien world since CE- the environments are just weird and awesome and don't look at all like something you'll find on Earth, which in a way fulfills a promise Halo games have been failing at for years. The new art direction is great- from enemy designs to vehicle designs to armors you unlock in multiplayer. The game just looks much better than Halo 4, and it's a refreshing take on the Halo Universe in a good way. Some scenes and explosions will still look a bit underwhelming graphically, though.

    So to sum it up:
    Gameplay/Level Design- easy 10
    Graphics/Art Direction- 9
    Story- 7
Features- TBD, as is it's a 5 but we already know Forge is coming alongside at least some multiplayer game modes

Halo 5 dosen't stand from it's previous multiplayer, of course because of it's Split-Screen removal. Obviously, I like the campaign better, and the shooting' fo'sho! And i think this should beat Bungie with their Destiny, but sometimes, I kinda miss Split-screen so much...

I hope there will be Split-Screen soon, without 60fps holding Split-screen fans from it's attention...

Lets just be real. This game is all about multi-player for most people. I may not be a big multi-player guy but this game is great online. There are lot of game styles and maps to play. The new Warzone is a wild ride. 12 vs 12 how can that not be fun? As I said there is a lot of content to play to cover everyone's personal online style Plus, there a lot of maps and more on the way.

There are several new features to the way the game plays (e.g. ground pound, REQ) Some may have become popular in other FPS games but, I think Halo 5 takes them an puts a unique and balanced twist on their implementation of these new features. Also, the pace of the game (action wise) in both the campaign and multi-player has picked up quite a bit and they don't waste anytime giving that new faster pace from the moment you start the game.

Please don't also ignore the fact that they will also be providing a ton of post additional release content in the coming months. More maps and not to forget Forge to build your own maps are on the horizon. In a time where games want to charge $60 for a Season Pass this game will give you that similar extra content for free.

Finally, don't listen to those giving it a 1 because there is no split screen. They are just sad. They were never fans of Halo to begin with. Everyone new it didn't come with. Most of those giving it a one seem like those bitter old guys who tell you to get off their lawn. With stories of how back in their day they use to walk to uphill both ways in the snow. Sure, mark it down a few points for that if you really miss that option but giving it a 1 and ignoring the fun this game is by itself is disingenuous or you really never played the game and just are whining. I wouldn't want to pass dispersions but maybe they are trying to play it on their PS4 and that is why they are having a bad time.

I would have given this game a 10 but it looses a little for the campaign being a tad too short. Not short like I am disappointed in the time I had playing but short enough to feel another few hours would have made it solid 10.

Though the story is lacking a little, I still enjoyed playing and seeing the new characters and the added abilities of the Spartans. The multiplayer is just awesome and does not get the respect it deserves. I would recommend that anyone should give this game a second look and take off the hater shades.

The new mechanics involving the jet pack boost are extremely satisfying, pretty much every type of gun is now a viable option (the halo 1 pistol is back!), and the req system and wars zone modes are great additions. Halo 5 is probably the best multiplayer experience I've had in years, and while I wish there was a classic big team battle playlist in addition to war zone, I'm pleased to say the game is easily worth the purchase for the multiplayer alone Expand

Fantastic entry for the Halo series. The campaign is something you can really bite your teeth into and get behind. The two perspective of Fireteam Osiris and Blue team make for compelling story telling which piece's the plot together nicely. The multiplayer is a hoot as always; absolutely mental, chaotic and fun simultaneously. Would recommend, nice job 343.

It was alright, but they could have done it much better.

One of the best gunfight mechanics and it's extremely satisfying when you know how to use every weapon or ability to your advantage. However the skill gap is very big, and teamwork is vital, so getting flogged by a good team can happen.

They have struck a harmonious chord here.
On a side note I'll mention I was greatly looking forward to playing Doubles with my old 2's partner in split screen. I was disappointed to see this feature wasn't included, but it certainly doesn't warrant some of these negative scores. Even the most cynical person could rate this title 5-7, but this game getting a 0-4 smacks of childish ranting.

I'm in pretty strong disagreement with a lot of the critics about this game, mainly with concern to the story. I personally thought it was brilliant, moving the series in a new direction and setting up a fantastic jump-off point for Halo 6. The missions are tons of funI'm in pretty strong disagreement with a lot of the critics about this game, mainly with concern to the story. I personally thought it was brilliant, moving the series in a new direction and setting up a fantastic jump-off point for Halo 6. I also want to stress what others have been saying: FAMILIARIZE YOURSELVES WITH THE LORE. That cannot be stressed enough. The missions are tons of fun though, harder than they used to be given the increased number of enemies in each area. But already I can think of a few absolutely great moments from the campaign that I think I'll remember for a while to come. The only complaint I will make is a very noticeable lack of characterization for the new characters, especially disappointing for Blue Team, making their debut in the games universe.

From the little I've seen of the multiplayer, it's very fun. I played a Warzone match that surprised me with just how balanced it was. With REQ (Requisitions), boss and AI enemies, and a large, evolving map, it would be easy for it to devolve into a **** but it is incredibly well done. I'm also very glad they made SWAT a highlight; it has always been my favourite Halo game mode.

Now, even though I give the game a solid 9 for great campaign and excellent online, I need to lambast 343i for their omission of split-screen. I have been quite upset that I can't play this with my roommate, as we have played through every other game, and I have heard the sad stories of many others who feel like they've lost something that helped connect them to friends and family. The decision to omit split-screen for a 60 FPS framerate is, in my opinion, absurd. This 60 FPS movement has gained traction out of nowhere, for no purpose, and frankly I'm sick of it. I couldn't give two **** if The Last of Us 2 is 60 FPS, and the same goes for any other that has been or will be announced. When you leave out such a core feature from your game to please your publisher with ammo for their marketing, you need to look at yourself as a developer and think again. If you stop advertising 60 FPS, there will be no riots. There will be no pushback. No one cares. It's a gimmick, and an excusable one until it starts making your games less fun. I hold out a strong hope that both 343i and Microsoft will see the error they've made here, but until then, shame on them for ripping out a major organ of the Halo series' body.

    Halo 5 is great.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I got late into Halo, and I think it's (still) the best FPS franchise by far.
It has the best weapon sandbox, with lots of really distinct, satisfying and useful weapons. The choice of your loadout or which power weapon to choose is constantly adapting to your skill and match conditions.
It has a perfect learning curve, where there's always something more to learn and achieve, and where's there's room for both new and old players - sometimes even in the same game (in warzone casual players can help the team A LOT by chasing AI if provided with some instructions, while more experienced players can do base and enemy control). Plus the campaign can serve as a fantastic training ground, as it's big, enjoyable in coop and can be approached in many ways.
It has the best support and economy model by far. All new maps and modes are free, and the map editor allows the community cooperate with the dev team in providing to everyone new maps every week. The range of multiplayer activities is staggering - and it's amazing we can still find quickly players close to our level in matchmaking in most modes 2 years after launch. How was this financed? With a 'loot card' system which is generous (you get packs very frequently without paying), and provides a mix of cosmetic items and satisfying "going wide" options which do not affect most of the game modes and even in warzone they don't offer significant advantage. Knowing that a lot of the requisition pack income goes to the esport rewards makes us paying for them out of goodwill, never out of necessity.
Technically, it has solid 60fps under any conditions (very few other games achieve that). Plus the 4k update is really elevating the experience. The art direction is really unique and sets the game apart.
While there are missteps in the story delivery (it was really hard for me to understand what's happening when I started with Halo 5), it's the only FPS in which we genuinely care what will happen next and I genuinely care about multiple sides of the conflict, as they have their reasons. (spoilers: ) What will happen with Professor Anders and the Guardian, and how will the AI revolt evolve?
Most importantly, Halo from the first to the last game understands it's a game and prioritises gameplay over everything. No frustrating blurry camouflaged snipers, no tons of similar historically semi-accurate weapons you cannot distinguish one from another when in the hands of your enemy. A wide palette and wide imagination make it primarily a colourful sport.
The movement, while debated by purists, strikes a perfect balance into being fast & smart but elevating instead of cancelling map knowledge. Dash-dodging and Spartan charging are tense tactical options, each with its own risks. That said, I would remove a couple of options to make the game a bit more accessible and to leave room for new additions (assassinations, for example, while cool, don't add anything tactical to the game and that's why you never see them in high level play). The radar is tactical but not overpowered, most of the action is what you see in the main screen, not the radar mini-game.
The lack of split screen keeps it short of a 10, but 343 promised it for the next instalment.

The campaign mode is fun and the story isn't as good as Halo 2 but just as good as Halo 3 and superior to Halo 4. They are going in a different direction and it does take some getting use to for the different POV the story takes on. The story does maintain interest and has a descent ending. I give the story an 8/10.

The multiplayer is absolutely amazing and is the only thing that keeps me logging in a couple hours a day. They aren't having any of the matchmaking issues that the Master Chief collection had. The upgrade system is just perfect and easy to understand unlike the abomination they're running in Black Ops 3. I give the Multiplayer 10/10.

The only thing this game is missing is Forge mode which I expect for them to include in an upcoming update. That's the only reason this game doesn't get 10/10.

All things accounted for, this game gets a 9/10.

P.S. don't waste your money on Call of Duty BO3!

Some missions are so short and if i remember correctly, there was even a mission where the player walked to a point, experienced a cut scene and that was it. Not to mention, only 2-3 missions involve blue team, and their 'close bonds' aren't necessarily seen at all. It seemed more like endless 'we believe in you Chief' type of stuff, like that 10 year old cousin who follows everything you do and say. It is enjoyable, but some missions do feel repetitive. It does tutor you with the new moves and having other team mates around you can be helpful and a bit of fun. The look, feel and framerate are as good as any other AAA titles to this day, if not better. Everything looks stunning and soundtracks are nods to older titles.

The multiplayer is COMPLETE PERFECTION. It is smooth, the game modes are good but lacking and this is where 343i clearly put their effort in. Not to mention free DLC will be added for a long period past launch. The requisition system is satisfying, however often feels like it is done just to make money as they can be purchased with real money, not in game currency. However, all money made is being added to the 1 million dollar prize pool for the Halo Championships in early 2016. Warzone is fun and the new mode called breakout is a sick mode that keeps my heart racing.

The interface of the whole game is great, it is easy to find what you are looking for and takes only 5 minutes to have it down-packed. Overall, it is definitely worth buying. :)

The gameplay is amazing and tons of fun. The story is a builder, and it reminds me a LOT of halo 2 in that way. Regardless, the way they build on the universe changes a lot of what is happening.

This game doesn't deserve the hate it gets, the campaign is pretty good and the multiplayer is PERFECT.

Anyone who is basing their review on campaign shouldn't even submit it because campaign is only like 30% of the game. The new arena brings back the good old halo 3 days of competitive but even better. Warzone is insanely fun, its just like BTB but bigger and better! This game for sure

It would be like me reviewing Forza 6 and complaining the game doesn't include guns.....they're not supposed to be in the game. Most of the franchises now focus on online multiplayer, gone are the days of split screen, this holds true with most games, not just Halo 5.

Other than that, the game has been enjoyable on 4 player co-op, still not had any connection issues... YET! Fingers crossed this continues after the shambles that was MCC.

Not finished the story yet so can't comment on this "terrible" ending i've been reading about. Online has been a lot of fun.

Warzone's are just crazy battles, headshot only Slayer's are really fun also, especially with the way the guns feel now.

All in all it's been an enjoyable experience so far. While I believe the negative reviews to be legit, they seem to be from people who have bought a game expecting something to be in it which wasn't .... it takes a 20 second google search to check before buying the game, this would be my advice.

I'm sure this won't be taken well.....

    Pros

    - graphics
    - multiplayer
    - soundtrack

    Cons
    - story

The game lacks depth in story especially if you are new to this series. Though missions with chief felt like good old days but locke its just weird. This could have been a master piece if they told the story properly but nonetheless this will keep you busy till next halo comes out

This makes the gameplay more varied and overall more enjoyable. Warzone is something of a novelty for now, but it has potential. Playing in the arena is what it's all about for so many users and 343 have done a very good job at making a balanced multiplayer experience. The new Spartan abilities all add something to the game without being overpowered, the system is a much more refined version of the armour abilites from Halo 4, which I always thought was broken, especially the inclusion of jetpacks which are thankfully omitted from the newest installment. This is the best in the series since Halo 3, and that's saying something. Expand

Overall the game itself is amazing, not perfect but just shy in my opinion.

PS. To all the people giving 0 scores, if this game had 32 bit graphics sure I can see the 0 score, however with a game as polished as this if you don't like the story or the franchise in general that's no excuse to rate this game any lower than a 8 in my honest opinion. makes me mad when people only rate 0 or 10, it doesn't help people make a honest decision on this title which is why they even read the reviews.

This game does not deserve anything below a 5 and anyone who rates it below a 5 is not giving a serious review. While the campaign isn't the greatest in the series I would still rate it ahead of halo 4 and halo 2. The new squad mechanics are cool, but halo has always had dodgy AI and this game is no different. The Spartan abilities and Semi-ADS game mechanics are fun and work well. TheThis game does not deserve anything below a 5 and anyone who rates it below a 5 is not giving a serious review. Where this game really shines is the multiplayer. It is the most fun I've had in multiplayer since I bought my Xbox One. All the new abilities bring a high-action and fast paced multiplayer that has not been seen before in Halo. The game, for the most part, is well balanced and the multiplayer is stable. I've been dropped from games a couple times, but nothing out of the ordinary for an online game. Warzone is fun, but I can't say much about it because I've spent so much time in arena! A side note about Warzone, IT IS NOT PAY TO WIN. Every time you rank up you get a pack, every time you get a weapon commendation you get a pack, and you are able to buy a gold pack about every 6-10 arena games depending on your performance. Those claiming the game is pay to win don't understand how the game works.

In conclusion, the game isn't perfect. However, if you enjoy Halo, if you appreciate a story that isn't all about chief, and if you enjoy a fast paced and action packed multiplayer experience, buy the game. I love it, and I think if people would actually give it a chance, they would love it too.

The new mechanics have made for some of the most interesting changes in Halo combat through the series. 343 Has taken the story that Bungie has started and really helped make it a deeper story. 343 has started to expand on some of the lore that has been in the book and made a much richer story then the games of past. This is a must play for anyone who owns an Xbox and even if you don’t you should buy one for this game.

The game came around a large advertising campaign that painted a story of Locke vs Master Chief. This leads into the intro of the game pretty well after you play the first mission as Master Chief you start chasing him down with Locke. Around the mid to late part of the campaign you really get to see the first and really last confrontation between Locke and Chief. After this point you really start to see the game focus on the true story of halo.

The story was great. It was a great continuation of the forerunner saga. Halo 4 was a high point in the halo story line and this game decided to take that to another level. This game told a great story and a villain that threw me for a loop. The story mainly follows Fireteam Osiris as you play 80% of the mission through Locke’s eyes. I found Locke was a bit lackluster in comparison to some of his team. Each person on Osiris has something special about them. I think however the story would have been stronger if the Locke and Fireteam Osiris was introduced in a non-numbered Halo as there was a lot of story we glanced over as the main meat of the games story was about the guardians. I do feel that the game bringing in Fireteam Osiris will actually improve the game moving forward as the addition of the Arbiter did back in Halo 2.

We did see the usually flow of Halo missions sniper, warthog, scorpion, and flight. It seemed even though we played the majority of the game in Locke’s shoes, the game truly felt like Halo in the end. With the normal three sided war we always see in Halo you never get bored with the fight. This game has taken that to the next level. The story has one of the most unexpected twisted that even left me at the end torn with how it all went down. The main villain had depth as the story was already built with the character other than the usual bad covenant leader.

The new suits made for some of the most fun I have in a shooter for some time. It never seemed overpowered by any means. I never felt as though I needed to use it. That said the moment you charge an elite off the side of a platform to his death you will be trying over and over. Some of the functions seemed more useful than others. The ground pound was so fun to use yet took way too long to execute the move. The charge was amazing. So useful and easy to execute that I found myself using it all the time. The quick strafe was a perfect way to wait for turret fire to get close and still get away just in time.

The modeling was great and the texturing was awesome. During the game we see many places in the Halo universe and have quite a varied set of environments to play in. The maps were so great as I played through them. The worlds were so dense with action from finding a hidden passage or enemies. It seemed like I could always find a spot to duck out of action to charge my shields. Yet I never felt that the action was ever far from me.

Now speaking of the multiplayer all I need to say is “I LOVE WARZONE!” This might seem a little off at first but it is super well balanced. You can save your points and get something big that will make a huge difference late game or spend early and get a major jump early. There were so many strategies and I have seen them all work and fail in my time playing. The maps felt great as there was always something to do with whatever you wanted to do.

Multiplayer has not felt this good since Halo 2. I can see this really being a large staple in the multiplayer community. The battles all seemed balance and fast. Levels all seemed great as they added in verticality to halo with the new suits. The running and climbing up ledges seems to make a huge difference in moving through the level. I found myself not wanting to stop as I started multiplayer and can’t wait to get my old crew back together from the old Halo 2 days.

Halo 5: Guardians is a must play. The game has the best multiplayer of any of the Halo games and probably any other shooter I have played. The story Halo tells is far ahead of any other shooter you today. When most shooters focus on a multiplayer platform this one focuses on an epic saga. This is a cornerstone game in the Xbox One library and needs to be played by anyone who has an Xbox One.

The story in this halo is no better or worse than previous halos and im a big halo player (mainly single player) and have loved them all.

The only real criticism of this game would be that the campaign does feel a tad short compared to the other titles. Otherwise, if your not super spoiled and prefer your games to have masterful story telling and still enjoy good gameplay, this game is great.

    Graphics, great.
    Sound, amazing.
    Gameplay, fairly good.
    Story, good.

But the multiplayer is where Halo 5 really shines. After playing the Beta I expected a COD clone with halo skins but they really made some changes. No loadouts in arena play. More weapons on the field. The sprint melee is a great addition along with the clambering and boost. Lots of options give huge amounts of depth to multiplayer play and allow for many different play styles.

The biggest downsides for me are, No firefight, sub par graphics on the multiplayer maps and the lack of maps though the current maps are fun to play.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Minus one for solo campaign. Co-op is great. The multiplayer is the greatest Halo multiplayer yet. And I have been playing Halo games non-stop since Halo: CE on the original Xbox, been to conventions, collectible, novels, etc. The MP is so, so good. Did I mention how good Arena is?

Campaign is bad, not only over hyped but completely different from what the trailers promote it as.

Multilayer is really good, well balanced, equal starts Spartan abilities fit perfectly. When forge and more casual game modes arrive it's probably going to become the best FPS multiplayer of the year

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Halo 5's singleplayer is bad. But Halo 5 the game great.

Yes Halo 5's singleplayer is probably the worst of the all the Halos featuring Master Chief (and this one barely features him). The narrative is confusing, and unless you've read all the comics, watched the shows (which I haven't), then you'll be confused to who many characters are and why they are the way they are. Locke and Chief never have the epic battle that they were advertised to have, with the game ending on another cliffhanger. Still the gunplay remains fantastic like any Halo game. The new controls allow for much greater mobility, such as boosting and climbing ledges, which makes the game have a whole knew dimension to it's combat. Many have said this is proof to Halo becoming Call of Duty, which is completely wrong. Halo 5 if anything is a step back (or forward) toward becoming a pure Halo game again, for reasons I'll talk about later. The Visuals are gorgeous and at 60fps, it's one of the smoothest shooters I've ever played.

The saving grace for Halo 5 is by far it's multiplayer. Gone are the classes and the spartan abilities. Back are the good old Halo style multiplayer that, to me, feels very similar to Halo 3, and NOT Call of Duty. All of the guns you could pick for your loadouts in Halo 4 are now found on the map, which allow them to be more powerful and have more unique qualities as opposed to trying to balance everything to allow for players to make classes with them. For me, Halo 4's multiplayer was fun, but it felt off. Halo 5 has brought back what I always loved and missed about Halo.

Multiplayer isn't without it's faults though. The requisition system screams cash grab for it's micro transactions, but I never felt like I was limited by not buying packs and earning them instead. Now armor is randomly obtained from these req packs with varying degrees of rarity, which diminishes the value of having rare armor as in older Halos it meant you accomplished something to obtain it. Armor customization is reduced to just armor, helmets, and visor color, though this doesn't bother me that much. New to the game are custom skins for your starting weapons, which is a welcomed addition but not necessary. For some of the smaller maps, spawn killing can sometimes become a little frustrating, mainly on my favorite game mode, SWAT. But it hasn't been bad enough to be game breaking for me, and hopefully it's something that can be addressed in the future.

As for the modes, I spend most of my time on the classics like SWAT and Big Team. Capture the flag and strongholds is as fun as ever, requiring team work and a small amount of coordination. The new game mode. which is obviously influenced by games like League of Legends, is Warzone. Here two teams fight for control of areas, similar to strongholds, while competing to kill computer enemies, such as Covenant forces, for a race to 1000 points. This mode uses "cards" you get from req packs to summon different vehicles and weapons. The cool part about this is each weapons and vehicle has many variants, unlike normal Halo multiplayer. For example you can get a Battle Rifle with a scope, or a SAW with explosive rounds. There's different types of Ghosts with different strengths, each with a different color scheme or model. Though the req system might seem like a pay to win scenario, the fact that you have to "level up" you req level in each Warzone game to a certain level to use more powerful cards makes it harder for players with a powerful arsenal of cards to unleash hell on others. Furthermore, once you use a power ful req pack, say a vehicle that takes 6 req points, you have to wait for those req points to recharge within the match. Still for all the fun Warzone is, it feels a little unbalanced, as the team that takes the lead usually keeps it, and scores tend to be pretty lopsided. I tend to stay in the classic multiplayer modes, where requisition cards have no affect. Finally, the dedicated servers for Halo 5 are probably the best yet for Xbox One gamers. I rarely if ever feel like I have bad connection, and only a few times have I seen other players skipping around.

For all the negative things about Halo 5, I have to give it a 9/10 for just how fun the multiplayer is. Yes the story mode is pretty bad compared to the Halo singleplayers we're used to. if you're into Halo for the singleplayer, bump the rating down to a 5/10. I haven't been able to put down the multiplayer. I stopped for about a week when I got sucked into Fallout 4, but in the end I always come back to killing hours of time by playing Halo 5. For some, Halo 5 may be another step in the wrong direction by 343i, but for me it's a big step forward for multiplayer, and honestly I haven't been this hooked on Halo since Halo 3.

I enjoyed the single player campaign plenty. Many people seem to be disappointed because they got really hooked into the concept from the TV commercial, but if you just put the disk in and play the game the story seemed good to me. There are some beautiful environments (I actually paused the game at one point and had my girlfriend come watch for a few minutes as I arrived on a new planet), and varied weaponry/enemy structure. I didn't feel like the bosses were just bullet sponges; some strategy was required to shoot them in certain places etc.

The multiplayer is good, maybe not the best Halo multiplayer ever. All of the games seem to feel the need to emulate Titanfall with the jetpacks/power suits now, so some will enjoy Halo and CoD more now and some will enjoy them less. I was fine without people boosting all around the map but I'm acclimating to this.
The Warzone mode is what pushes the multiplayer over the top and I actually need to get in there more and continue playing it. (I normally hop in matchmaking Slayer).

Warzone probably pushes the score up a notch, it is probably an 8.5 but I was going to round down to 8 -- I'm going to go with a 9.

Excellent Game. Fast paced exciting Multiplayer. Every weapon is well balanced, as are most of the maps. Competitive Arena for those who like that, Big Team Battle and Warzone who like larger matches.
Spawning sometimes is a little funky on maps like Deadlock: 1 guy spawns on the opposite side of the map from his team. No overpowered weapons, game is genuinely fun to play.

Campaign plot and execution was a little off. The advertisements promised a Chief vs Locke storyline, but that never happened. You didn't get to play as Chief for many levels, and some levels existed where you didn't get to shoot anything, basically an interactive cutscene.
On the whole, an excellent game.

Warzone is the best part of the game. It's where you are teamed up with 12 different players, and what you have to do is to capture bases, while going after objectives against the covenant. Warzone assault is where one team defends their outposts, while the other tries to capture it. Arena has team arena, slayer, swat, free-for-all, big team battle, and a new mode called breakout. Breakout is simple, it is where you have to take the flag to your base, or just kill the enemy players. I was dissipointed that it did not have infection, but I got over that. It still has forge, which is still fun. One more thing, the multiplayer has this things called req packs, which is where you earn things as you play the games multiplayer. There are some packs that you have to buy, so be aware of that. For weapons, you can customize your skin, but I think you have to buy the stuff to do that.
I thought the game was fun and this game will keep me on for a long time.

What makes the game even better is the support it has received. Halo 5 has gotten so many free maps and modes, from older features such as score attack to newer maps and an upgraded forge mode, along with new and old weapons (something not seen in a Halo dlc). If I was able to do decimal points, I would raise it from a 9 to around a 9.2 just for this amazing support. Overall, I really liked the game, and I think it is definitely worth a play, especially for fans of competitive multiplayer.

Warzone mode makes it very fun and can be changed with card packs (reques) asking for vehicles or weapons. The enemy AI is very advanced, they flank you, cover themselves, rolling up, use all their resources to give you a challenge when facing it. On Xbox One X it has a patch of 4K improvements that allows amazing graphics and solidly maintains the rate of 60FPS in both One and One X. The game is on the GamePass.

    The bad:
You don't mess around with the Chief and his team, this leaves a sense of estrangement from what was seen in the trailers in a frantic hunt for Locke vs John 117. The Knights that came out as big enemies in Halo 4, here they return but to Harder Deputy Boss mode than in the previous game.

    Lo Meh !:
No, Halo did not die in Reach, many criticize Halo 5, without having played it. The Bungie-Lovers do not accept that Halo 5, although it is not the story that will change the world or the way you see video games, is a great pillar of multiplayer, a game that after years of coming out has a very active community both in cooperative and competitive games, both to hang out in Warzone or laughing like crazy in Action Bag, or by sharing modified content and maps in Forge. An impossible accomplishment like "Seriously Something" is missing like in Gears of War Saga. It is not the infecting garbage that many who have not even played it say.

    Campaign Score
    7/10

(cliffhanger sucks by the way, just going to mention that)
Halo 5's campaign struggles mainly in its pacing and idea execution. While not being as weak as Halo 4 or to some degree Reach (still a good game), Halo 5 forces you away from the Chief and tries to make you like Locke. While yes Locke is a badass, it takes until the end of the story for you to give a **** a major flaw in its story. Cortana as a villan however more so the gameplay were stellar. The times you play as chief in his 3 very long missions which actually almost add up to the time played as Locke, have very crucial story and character moments, focused on 4s ending and team chemistry.
The gameplay and level design kept me and my partners not only engaged but excited. Ferocious landscapes and occasional cinematics while opening up new worlds was extremely exciting. Everything felt smooth and the art style blended too well with enemies sometimes, but that's ok. It was a fun experience for my party and holds much replay value.

While the multiplayer certainly isn't the original trilogy, it is a much better version of 4 that includes both casual and competitive game modes, along with some new ones such as the infamous Warzone. Its **** fun as hell and ill definitely come back to it. For forge, just **** great man, just play it yourself.
But microtransactions? Really? Pitiful **** thing to have in your game cosmetic or not. I will be taking a point off for that.

Halo 5 was an amazing experience, all be it with flaws that fans new and old would be able to recognize. A mostly compelling story with mostly charming characters but an annoying cliffhanger similar to Halo 2 but arguably not AS bad. Overall should you play this game, hell yes! While it may fall mid-tier and divided the fanbase like Reach, in my opinion its a great game!

Well thought out game, with awsome visuals, continuing the story in a more aprochable way. Although i felt like the game had something more to give that was missing, Maybe some DLCs. An Awsome game the same.

Halo 5's story is too confusing at times, but the shooting has never felt better, and the MP is the best since Halo 2.

Historia atrapante y multijugador frenético y adictivo !! No es perfecto por algunas misiones de relleno que no deberían ocupar lugar

Halo 5: Guardians is okay. Its campaign is rubbish, but the multiplayer is solid thanks to the foundation it’s built upon. Warzone is a really enjoyable experience, and while combat is still mostly about tossing grenades and hitting the melee button, the whole Requisition gimmick adds some much-needed flavor to proceedings.

The latest Halo is a big deal only for hardcore Halo fans. For me the single player campaign was unbearably pompous and despite 1080p and 60 fps the visuals are not as breathtaking as they once were in Halo 4. The game builds a solid foundation for Halo 6, but it’s not one of those games you absolutely have to play. [13/2015, p.48]

With a more accessible and engaging story and solid new designs for the Prometheans, Halo 5 is a major improvement over Halo 4. Warzone is a great addition to the multiplayer, though the mode seems to have some game balance issues. [Nov 2015]
