With Fallout 4, I can say I was satisfied and got my money's worth into the game, that being said it wasn't perfect, respectively no game is, but fallout 4 is so close to hitting that perfect score it hurts me to give it a 9/10. Before I jump into what I loved, I want to go into my dislikes first. The start of the game is just not what I hoped for, it was too short before the bombs fell, even though that intro scene gave me goosebumps, the rest just left me wanting more out of the pre-war world. I mean imagine having the feel of going to concord or something without the missing walls and dead people everywhere, and Preston telling me about another god damn settlement. It would create this impact of going into it later when it is all destroyed, or having a flashback of shopping with your family there, it would have created this much deeper feeling of rescuing Shawn and fighting for my partner, this is my biggest con of the game, a weak start. However, this in no way shape or form resembles the middle and end, finding Shawn had me feeling mixed emotions, with a strong entrance to the plot twist, that was fantastic, and the ending, mine being the minutemen had me standing tall as I created this army, and destroyed the institute. That is where the game succeeds, along with its strong combat mechanics and extensive amounts of perks to use at my will. I have not yet played as a female character but from what I have heard the voice actor is great, and that's another pro for fallout 4, the game now has a voiced protagonist, I was on board with this from the start and it is safe to say Brain T Delaney did a stellar job on being the lone wanderer, the tone of his voice made the experience so intense and I loved it. All in all fallout 4 did its job in being an rpg and personally made me love the fallout universe even more so than I did with fallout 3 and NV. 9/10 easily, if anyone has for whatever reason not picked up, trust me the money is worth it, it is without a doubt my favourite game of 2015 Expand

I enjoyed this game immensely, I so far have 15 days and 13 hours played, This game was worth every single dollar of mine, I give this game this score as I haven't played previous fallout's, I went into this game expecting a open world and it delivered for me, with so many places to go to and things to do I loved this game.

Here is what I love about this game: - I loved its open
I enjoyed this game immensely, I so far have 15 days and 13 hours played, This game was worth every single dollar of mine, I give this game this score as I haven't played previous fallout's, I went into this game expecting a open world and it delivered for me, with so many places to go to and things to do I loved this game.

Here is what I love about this game:

    - I loved its open world, straight after the vault you can go anywhere in the world

    - So many places to go to, on my first run through I went to about 1/20 of all the locations, so much to do it always brought me back

    - The unique guns in this game, The Cryolator, The Gauss rifle, Every gun felt special

    - I loved the conflict in the story, Deciding who to side with and who is more evil than the other

    - The perks, I love them, I like how many there are and how just a little change can completely change how you play

    - I liked how once the story ended you could keep playing, That makes it feel like you can accomplish everything in the world

    - The customization in weapons, Armour, Chems and power Armour, It felt like I could choose how I wanted these items to feel and they really did a brilliant job on this subject

Though I currently really enjoyed this game there were some downsides

Here is what I didn't like so much about this game:

    - The songs, They felt like 8 songs in 1 playlist on repeat

    - The mire lurks, Every time I saw them I was disappointed, I could take them down but they just didn't feel right, I felt like they had way to high damage resistant, even when shooting the inside of the shell

    - Though I loved the guns, There wasn't much variety, I felt like I was seeing the same guns every time I killed a raider or anyone/thing that had a gun

    - The way they handled the perk points, I feel like I will NEVER get all the perks, You have to be level 254 or something to get all of them and that makes me feel very sad as by that level you are just grinding

    - The speech options, Some times I had the intent of saying something but with the way the system of speech is right now I was saying the opposite of what I wanted, The should definitely look into how they handled this part as I was a let down for me finding out that speech choices rarely mattered.

    - The settlement system was a really good idea, But it felt like a gimmick, I never really used it as the way it was laid out and the way it was explained was almost non-existent, I felt like I couldn't connect with any settler as they had no personality or even their own names!

I really really enjoyed this game and I would highly recommend to buy this game, Long time Fallout fans may feel disappointed and I can see why, But I felt like this game felt right to me, and that's why I give it a 8/10 :)

When you walk out into the Fallout, there’s little to criticize. There’s just SO MUCH TO DO. With such an immense map and a surprisingly gorgeous wasteland to discover, there are endless possibilities. Fallout 4 shines in so many ways, similarly to Skyrim. However, it’s better. Why? Because it’s got guns baby.

Fallout 4’s campaign was something to behold. With these decisions you make, you ally with multiple factions. It’s up to you which one you want to side with. The decisions you make in this game play a large role in what you shape your character to be like and the campaign does not shy away from making sure you know you made your final decision. I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions with characters (except the Brotherhood of Steel, they’re a bunch of **** holes). The campaign ended with a ā€œbangā€, extremely emotional while satisfying. Fallout doesn’t need a multiplayer, the single-player is more than enough.

Now onto what to do after the long campaign. Truth be told, the campaign takes forever because it is so hard to stick to it when you keep getting addicting side quests. For instance, the Silver Shroud quest line. This game made me truly fall in love with the Fallout world. From building and stocking up my settlement to running around gunning down enemies, I never thought ā€œwhat next?ā€ There is always something to do and something to enjoy.

DLC: Automatron includes a mini story mode and, most importantly, lets you build robots! You can literally build walking tanks as your companions. THAT IS AWESOME. I loved how great this ended up and it made a great game even better. Wasteland Workshop expanded the sandbox for creating settlements and allowed the user to capture wildlife in cages. Deathclaw battles shall be happening soon. Along with that, more DLC is to be released and I'm excited to see what will come next.

My only true beef with this game is that it suffers from bugs. I found odd glitches and immense lag at times. These I'm sure will be addressed over time (or at least I hope), but to be a truly phenomenal game, it should be more polished. I also am a little let down by the lack of variety on some side quests. At first, it is fine. However, after a while, they start get repetitive and don't seem to add much. The prime examples are the Minutemen quests, where you literally go to one settlement and just shoot things, then report back to Garvey, then rinse, lather, repeat. Though, despite its downfall, it's still one heck of a game I enjoyed playing.

There's always something to do when you walk out into the fallout.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fallout 4 is a good game. But it's just that. A good game. It's not great, like its predecessors. It's just good. I found myself playing the game and I just didn't feel the same as I did when I originally played Fallout 3 or New Vegas. It just wasn't the same. The main quest did nothing for me. I had absolutely no attachment whatsoever to my characters spouse (whom I had barely known for 5 minutes before her death) or my baby son (who again I had barely known for 5 minutes before he was kidnapped). Then just as I thought I was about to rescue him, it was the biggest anticlimax I can remember from a game. Turns out he's now the big bad guy! Of course since it's a Fallout game you can choose to side with him, but hey guess what happens then? Yupp, you guessed it. He has incurable cancer and dies at the end of the game. I mean seriously Bethesda, what the **** You make me spend hours thinking I'm gonna be rescuing my kid to make him out to be the bad guy so I decide to side with him, but nope, that's not a good enough laugh for you, so you then kill him when I think we're gonna rule the commonwealth together? It's ridiculous. I mean what is even the point?

The companions are also rather crap compared to previous Fallout games, although it does mark the return of a canine companions (also called Dogmeat, obviously), and Nick Valentine, a synth detective, is a pretty cool guy to keep you company. The rest? I wouldn't even let them clean my toilet, seriously, they're that boring.

The graphics also aren't up to my expectations. Sure, they're better than New Vegas, but they're just not what you'd expect form a next gen game that's been in development for the past 3 or so years. Then there's the vast multitude of bugs and glitches. The amount of times I've got stuck in the floor, fallen through the floor, gotten stuck in a wall, had a dead enemy floting in fornt of me etc. is just insane. Again, with a next gen game you'd have thought these errors would have been more minimal than in the previous titles, but nope, they're just as pronounced here.

It's just, after 5 years I was expecting something more, you know? I mean, yes it's a good game, yes there are some improvements to the graphics, your character is now voiced, the crafting system is 100 times better, the shooting mechanics are vastly improved, and it is a Fallout game. But I was just expecting greater things. I guess I just got too hyped and was disappointed when it didn't meet my expectations, but there you go.

This is an easy one for me: This is the best game ever! I was already a big fan out Fallout 3, besides the huge amount of bugs, Fallout 4 does a step up. What a great game, what a possibilities! Endless game time. I finished the storylines (yes there are more!), and still the game is far but finished.

    I’m Falling for this game.
Fallout 4, before I played this game I thought it was the most stupid game ever because it was confusing. But I played it now, I’ve watched people play it. The premise of the game is a nuke goes off and before it goes off you are invited to join a vault, just for precautions. The nuke goes off and you, your wife, and your son get frozen in a cryogen container and fall asleep. 200 years later you wake up and see your wife get killed and your son gets kidnapped by the people who created the vault, then you fall asleep again. When you wake up the land is destroyed and animals and people are infected. It’s the apocalypse. You have to get food and water, build resources and buildings. You’re the main character and you do missions and try to find your son that was kidnapped.
This game is super fun, I love how you can modify your weapons and make them to your needs, not the needs of the game. You can put different sights on your gun. Also, you can make it better, so it has better damage, ammo clips, grip, etc. You can make it so it has a different paint job. Or make it shoot a different way. Modifying your gun the right way will make playing the game a lot easier.
You can create your character, and you can control how big or small he or she is. You can pretty much make him or her however you want, it’s pretty fun. You can make him or her whatever race you want, you can make him or her have whatever scars or color hair or eyes. It took me an hour to create mine. You can also pick your name. Creating your character is a really good part about the game. Also, at the beginning of the game you get aspect points. Beginners, experts, anyone, at any level can control their strength, perception, endurance, charisma, intelligence, agility, and luck for the game.
Another fun aspect of this game is having a dog, especially because it can’t die. The worst it gets is that it won’t be able to attack enemies. Also you can give him armor. You can also get different species of dog, like a german shepard or a bull dog. Some breeds are better than others. Some breeds do more damage, some smell better, or can sniff out better items.
The graphics in this game are amazing. The picture on the right is exactly what the game’s graphics look like. The reaction time is also amazing. If you made this game’s graphics any better than it would look just like real life compared to older games.
This game has more advanced technology and weapons in the game compared to real life. You use things like laser rifles and battle armor very advanced stuff. In the battle armor you are way more protected than just out in the open. You can drop from a building and barely lose any health.
This game is rated M. Only because of language and it’s pretty scary, considering all of zombies popping up. It’s mostly dark so that adds to the zombies being scary. It cost somewhere between $50-$60. You can play on Xbox One and PS4. I really recommend this game, it is really worth the money.

Think of it as an open world Action RPG with a greater emphasis on being an open world game. This isn't Fallout 3, this isn't Skyrim with guns, this is Fallout 4. It's a totally different beast that becomes more fun to play when you come to terms with the fact that it isn't a pure rpg.

OK, to be fair, I read many of those reviews, so here is a rebuttal to some of them:
-graphics: if you only play games for snazzy graphics at the expense of everything else then you probably loved the dumb

OK, to be fair, I read many of those reviews, so here is a rebuttal to some of them:
-graphics: if you only play games for snazzy graphics at the expense of everything else then you probably loved the dumb later FF series where you push a button or two to watch a bunch of cutscenes.
-gameplay: the game is huge. Huge. Folks who played for "seven hours" are truly not giving the game a chance, as 7 hours means you didn't manage to open ANY of the interesting quests and storylines.
-dying too much: learn to play an RPG n00b.

This game is a mashup of a town-building minecrafty game with an RPG/shooter, set in as open a world as they could make it but still ensure there is a story line. In order to get anywhere, you need to go slow, finding stuff you can use to get better armor weapons etc., all the while levelling up your character.
I am over 75 hours in, and have barely touched the main story, being busy building up an infrastructure of settlements, where you take control and build everything, from walls/turrets/defenses, to houses (complete with furnishings decorations etc), from the floor up. I loved the idea of these two disparate game styles coming together so well, and Bethesda did a great job on it.

This game, despite appearing at first to be an FPS, is not an FPS. Despite the mainly first person view and the abundance of firearms, any comparison to CoD are completely misunderstood. The story is very good so far but if I had to pick one thing to give credit to Bethesda for in the story it would be the pacing. In some giant R.P.G's. with very long stories the pacing can be a bit slow at times but the pacing in Fallout 4 is spot on, has you interested and having fun the whole way through. The world, as always is fantastic, so is the atmosphere. The almost intact skyline and city of Boston is fantastic. It has the feeling, the humour and the darkness a fallout game should have. There is the usual junk and item scattered everywhere, with thought about where they are placed, even if they are not at all important. In addition, EVERY junk item in the game can be scrapped for part to use in the new crafting system.
The crafting system is brilliant. There are so many weapon upgrades and combinations, you can make practically anything with the right resources and perks. The new power armour mechanic is brilliant, and makes you feel like you are a walking tank, like it should. Power armor can also be modded in a variety of ways. What other game lets you walk around in a bright pink human tank with a rocket powered sledgehammer?
VATs is as good as ever. Aiming has been improved from other fallout titles and feels less, but still sufficiently clunky (as in my opinion it should).
The main story-line is strong, with kind of two parallel but linked main quests. I can usually predict plot twists but i genuinely did not see the one in this game coming. There are a decent amount of side quests, not quite on the level of the previous games, but still enough and interesting.
The settlement feature I loved, especially with the add-ons. It was a great part of the game, tedious at first when you have little resources, but once you get the perks and materials, you can build amazing things.
This game will not be for everyone. You NEED to invest in it, you need to be patient. If you spend the time levelling up your character, exploring the wasteland and immerse yourself this game will just keep giving. If you like to rush through a game, complete the main quest and a few side quest then move on, you will miss the best parts of the game. This isnt COD.

The game was quite average out of the box but made brilliant by the addition of mods on the Xbox. Thanks to Beth and the awesome PC community that have really made this game rock. I was able to correct those little annoying parts of the game that stopped short my enjoyment. Things like timescale, radio stations, enhanced blood textures, weather, moon replacement, smoking, layered armor over all clothing, darker nights, campsite, shelf clutter, shotgun, desert eagle and chinese rifle, reverb audio etc have all made the game fantastic.

Moving on from Washington Beth have given us a Boston take on the post apocalyptic life, hunting in the ruins of a fallen world and struggling to survive. Well, that is how it should work, except we can also level our character 100 times and turn them into a demi-god. Lol.

    Pros-
    Nice game world to explore
    Mods
    Fun combat
    New upgrade system for weapon/armor
    Locations respawn
Balance of weapons and gear is much better than FO3
    Far Harbor atmosphere is awesome
    Super Mutant suicider
    Folllower quest stories
Rain audio changes when under shelter
No rain through solid objects. Finally!
    Power Armor is well done
I like the way radiation lowers health bar
The freedom of choice to role play and ignore quests

    Cons-
Only 2 gig of mod space.
Too many fetch and carry quests
    Creature texturing is too smooth
Condensed map and low number of satellite towns
Disappointing radio stations. Both in songs and number of stations. Crap!
    Season pass was a rip-off
Followers block you every time you walk slowly
    No centaurs!
    Shotgun/combat rifle use same skin
Minutemen lore and quests were connected to settlement building

The Bethesda style of story writing is something I will not comment on as the quests are only a reason to travel across the map and explore. The game is all about role play and exploring. People can rightfully complain about it but that is the truth. And no doubt my high score comes from me loving the Beth style of freedom and exploring for hours on end.

I enjoyed the voice dialogue as the female voice over was really well done ( I have not played a male yet) and I would be happy enough to see it return again. But, Beth, please, not in Elder Scrolls. A male and female for every race would be overkill. Written dialogue is fine.

I was also happy enough with the settlement building as that was one aspect I always wanted to do in FO3 but never got a chance to do so. Waaaay too much DLC was dedicated to settlement building though. I really hated that.

The only DLC I have not played yet is Nuka World. I was hoping that we could join and play an evil faction but reading the reviews I am not sure that they pulled it off well.

My game crashed to the start up menu probably once every 10 hours of gameplay so that is something to consider if you install too many mods on the Xbox. It was worse in the downtown area with all the extra textures it has to load.

Game Content- 9 out of 10
Fun Factor- 7 out of 10
Overall Rating- 8 out of 10

I would only have rated Game Content 7 out of 10 without mods.

Fallout 4 is an extremely fun game to play with interesting story line, enjoyable quests and amazing DLC. I definitely feel it was worth its 60 CHF price tag, it kept me entertained through its replayability going through the different factions storylines and the very good DLC. Adding mods was also a great step that meant people could enjoy the game in even more ways.

It's big, fun and buggy, but then what game isn't buggy that Bethesda make. It's a good RPG and a solid FPS which certainly helps bump up the score on combat. Graphics are a bit outdated but then what Bethesda game doesn't have outdated graphics

Really enjoy the mods on console, it isn't a true RPG game though, but in a overall it's fun to waste time on.

Pretty fun game although I feel that it's a better shooter than an RPG. Story and characters are a bit watered down but I enjoyed the world.

Fallout 4 might not be very technically advanced, but it’s a game full of charm and substance, which makes up for an ageing Creation Engine. Fallout 4 boasts an incredible world full of intrigue, mystery and suspense, backed by a whole host of weird and wonderful characters. It’s a world you’re going to want to go back to, time and time again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Continuing on with Bethesda's control over the license of the Fallout franchise is their third dive into the world, or in this case, the fifth main title, Fallout 4. Faults with the first attempt at Fallout, such as the poor, drab graphics, repetitive textures, lack of weapon variety, and simplistic morality system have been fixed in Fallout 4, albeit, bring new problems of it's own. The world of the Commonwealth is seamless and has a emphasis on huge and expansive: roads actually look like they were once driven on, especially the sprawling highways and overpasses that hang over places like Boston or Lexington, instead of Fallout 3's single car overpass and highways that go to nowhere for no reason. Attention to detail was this games main focus, from the details inside and outside the buildings, to the ammo, the weapons, and the armor, giving them a more practical look that coincides with their ammo type. As for said weapons and armor, they have expanded through means of the crafting system, expanded upon the weapon mods from Fallout New Vegas; you can add powerful recievers, silence weapons, add beam splitters, and change the fire rate of certain weapons, as well as adding extra buffs to your armor as well. The same goes for Melee, although to a lesser extent. Armor components also deride on different parts of the arm and legs as well, rather than just simply being an outfit and a helmet from FO3. Which brings me to the Power Armor.

Power Armor by far has been the most changed aspect of the previous game, now serving as a sort of 'Gundam Suit' rather than a heavier variant of the Outfit/Helmet set from FO3. You can add different parts of different power armors, from the weak T-45A to the most powerful X-01 power armors. Not only that, but like with basic armor components, you can add extra buffs based on what materials you have as well as what paints are available, which brings me to crafting. Collecting useless junk is actually useful compared to FO3, which only served to increase your cap rate, which by the way, has been balanced quite well in this game where you won't have 900,000 caps and nothing to spend them on. Shipments, ammo, guns, trading shops will all drain your cap amount significantly where you will have to consolidate said resources, so looting areas doesn't become a matter of collecting that one unique from said area.

Although, here comes the first big negative. The Settlement System. Now, the settlement system was a good idea at the start: give you the opportunity to make civilization thrive again, but the micromanagement of 20+ separate settlements with settlers who will never be satisfied no matter if you have 5 different medical stores to keep happiness up, so you will be running from pillar to post to expend all your junk and caps to make more pointless stores to keep that arbitrary happiness meter up, assuming it works. The settlements in question glitch a lot, as some places will show up with unexplainable triangles on certain things, or inexplicably have no water or food resources despite the contrary. The Minutemen questline focuses on this heavily as a result, so if I were you, I would suggest avoiding this, as this will be the main crunch of your time, if you want to get right into the story.

As for the story, it is ambiguous in it's morality system, as it doesn't hit you over the head with basic black and white statements: The institute is well off but isolationist and distrustworthy of life above the surface; The Brotherhood is powerful but otherwise opportunistic and militaristic in their control; and the Railroad wants freedom for all synths, at the great risk of said synths becoming raiders and terrorizing otherwise peaceful settlers. Minutemen is the only faction that will warrant an overall 'good' ending, as you only need to sacrifice one of the three main factions. It's a shame that the story does get heavily sideswiped by the intense focus on settlement building. As for the NPCS in question, there are positives, and negatives.

NPC dialogue is a lot more fresher in previous installments, as I never came across an NPC with the same voice other than the same generic NPCS like Raiders or Settlers. Dialogue sounds more authentic, rather than a bit blocky or unaware, but ultimately, the dialogue wheel and making the protagonist actually speak was a mistake. It limits the ability to branch your character off in different ways, or find inventive ways to convince said NPCs or companions, although, Morality is not based on a meter and actually feels authentic as well, as you can feel the decisions you make affect others around you based on the affinity system, as well as making said choice felt throughout. But the dialogue wheel, combined with the streamlining of the leveling system to strictly a perk system, do limit your player choice as Charisma is the name of the game, as you will be able to pass all speech checks, gain all settlement perks, and woo any companion.

I mean it's post apocalyptic the sims, people try to say as a criticism. What about that doesn't sound fun!?! I have probably a thousand hours of just building stuff in this game.

I've been playing fallout since the first one launched, 4 is my favorite in the series. Sure, the dialog got a bit gimped. Sure, the writing is kinda weak at times. But it's got the best npcs (Nick and Hancock being standout characters, and Nick being the first companion in fallout history to get his own dlc) and when it's good it's incredible.

Don't listen to the people telling you "if this is your first fallout, play 1. 1 aged terribly, and fallout fans are famous for absolutely hating the most recent game. It happened to 2, it was too casual and silly. It happened to 3, it was 3d. It happened to new vegas, it was a broken mess at launch. It happened to 4, "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle. Not a real ar pee gee!" It's happening right now to 76 because 76 actually is a dog turd wrapped in 50s americana. And like the criticism of 2, 3, and new vegas, the backlash about 4 was totally overblown.

The combat is vastly improved, having an almost COD feel about it. While that may be a negative to some, it's a positive for me since it adds fluidity to the combat and even the feeling of just walking around. The map in this game is fun with many places to explore and many enemies to fight. The graphics are a vast improvement to the prior two games (Fallout 3 and New Vegas), especially coming from playing those games on the console only. One of the bigger additions to the game was the addition of a voice actor to the protagonist. I thought it added a bit of depth to the game and story. Speaking of which, the story was pretty good, maybe not as good as Fallout 3, but it didn't bore. One of the positive aspects for me was the ability to continue playing after the completion of the main story, which was a big gripe I had with Fallout New Vegas. Some of the things I didn't like about the game as much had to do mostly with the power armor updates. It was cool that they added new features to the power armor from the previous games, but having to get fusion cores for the armor to actually work, was a bad idea in my mind. While some may not like the deletion of the morality system (and I am one of them) and the wear of the weapons and armor, I have to say that some ideas are better than others. After putting more than 85 hours into this game, I came to the conclusion that it is a well made game that kept me entertained for hours on end, and it didn't have as many flaws as people made it sound like. Well, 7 months later with countless updates, 3 DLC packs, and mods finally coming to Xbox One i can happily say that Fallout 4 is a phenomenal game. Never in my entire life have i had this much fun with a video game. To start off, 2 of the 3 DLC packs are actually worth your money as they are damn good. Wasteland Workshop on the other hand is only good if you enjoy building settlements. Anyway, the two packs that are good Automatron and Far Harbor stand with previous expansions such as Lonesome Road and Point Lookout as the most enjoyable DLC packs we have been given. Console mods are the main thing that hooked me back to this game as i can finally experience what PC players have been bragging about for years now. I can now finally run across the Commonwealth wielding a lightsaber with a trusty Behemoth companion by my side. Anyway, everybody who gave this game a low score (0-5) should honestly give this game another chance. Bethesda have truly listened to the fans and i am excited to see what content we get in the future Expand

Is this the best Fallout game? No. Is this the best RPG Fallout game? No. What it is, is a very well designed open world fps, to be completely honest. There are some minor RPG elements here and there to keep it in the category, but most RPGs these days are significantly dumbed down.

    Positives:

    - Great and expansive open world
    - Excellent gunplay mechanics (You can finally aim down sights reliably)
    - Fun settlement building system (better with mods)
    - Good character building system (perk chart)
    - Good DLC content
    - Replay value
    - Some great characters
    - Expansive mod list (Xbox & PC only)
    - Fun to play

    Negatives:

    - Dialogue wheel is just unnecessary with limited options
    - Story is weak, along with some of the characters, especially yours
    - Missing some major rpg elements
    - Repetitive side quests (shut up preston)
    - Typical rpg bugs and crashes
    - Mehh graphics

Overall, IMO, Fallout 4 is a worthy successor to NV in the fallout series. I do not believe it is better than New Vegas, but it is certainly worthy of carrying the name. A good effort overall by Bethesda bringing the series to the next gen consoles and hopefully the next instalment will include more rpg elements with the positives of this game, because that would be an amazing product. Something to build on for the future. 83% = 8/10.

As great as the game is and as enjoyable as it is, it has some serious flaws that need to be addressed. The aiming feels clunky and its hard to be precise with your shooting, thankfully vats compensates for this issue but it definitely ruins some of the immersion. Additionally, even though this game has been out for about 3 years , it still is a bit laggy at times even though I am playing on an Xbox One X. Whats even more frustrating is that the game still froze for me once while I was playing , deleting an hour of gameplay since I am playing survival mode and can only save at a bed when there is one available. I got this game on launch and it definitely has improved since then, but at this point I expect the game to run flawlessly given 3 years of time and playing on an improved console. Overall, its an awesome game and really tons of fun, its a game you can easily get sucked into and lose track of time. Expand

I also love the look of Diamond City, and the whole map looks very fitting. Looting's great, and vats are better then ever. The DLC is very good, but a bit overpriced. It's a great game. But, in comparison to Fallout 3/NV, it's almost like a few steps back were taken. For example, i find the loss of the original skill points system a bit of a flop, as with the new S.P.E.C.I.A.L/perk system, which just feels a bit sloppy. On the flip side, there is a huge selection of perks to chose from, which can all be levelled to your choosing, and with no level cap you can essentially make a perfect character.

Game play wise, i love it. The graphics (Even on my low spec Xbox one) are a huge improvement over Fallout 3/NV, with great visuals and colouring. The shooting mechanics feel good, as well as the pip boy, map etc. Crafting is also majorly improved, as you can now tag the objects you need to make a certain mod for a gun, amour etc.

I enjoyed the quest line, if anything i found it to be a little bit too short. It's not quite as impressive as the Fallout 3/NV quest line, but enjoyable none the less. Side quests do get very repetitive however, but with the addition of a few good DLC's this changed my view on the game a fair bit.

Overall, it's a good game. It's got the odd classic Bethesda bug here and there, but it's a very enjoyable game none the less.

Awaking to a neighborhood on the brink of nuclear fallout was mesmerizing to me. Bethesda nail this opening sequence and it sets the tone for the rest of the game. You exit the vault and begin your journey through the wasteland, and what a marvelous journey it is.

Walking through the wasteland listening to glorious 40s and 50s music on the radio is fun and frankly never gets old.

The lore and exploration in this game, as well as the side and misc quests are all great, some better than others, with my favourite being The Silver Shroud. The lore is very detailed and each location has some lore attached to it. Combat and gameplay feels good, and overall it is an upgrade from NV.

Settlement building was new to FO4 and I really enjoy it. It is one of my favourite things to do, gathering materials and then building my settlement, full of settlers, bars, stores, etc. Definitely a very rewarding thing to do.

I love how vivid and colourful the world is compared to those 2 Fallout games, it was a stark contrast and highly needed after being so bleak and dreary (rightly so for the circumstances but still).

I did not really enjoy the building a village part but it does add some additional realism I guess because our hero needs somewhere to live and some support to survive.

Another memorable storyline with a few unexpected twists and turns, it deserves a place in your library.

This game is another great one from Bethesda, great vibe feel and a lot of original ideas, the factions and choices felt meaningful and the settlement building added so much to the world. I have done 100% of this game and I have to say I enjoy it. It has lots of content not to mention DLC my only problem is how badly polished this game is and how much it will crash in the middle of playing. Overall worth the money.

IF you loved Fallout 3 and Skyrim, then you should love this. The freedom of play and immersion are second to none. The settlement building aspect, as well as the modding community, ensures the longevity of the experience. I have played this game for years and years,

Sometimes beautiful, a bit broken, and really quite brilliant in many places, forgiving fans will adore Fallout 4. [Christmas 2015, p.60]
  3. More Fallout 3.9 than 4, but still absolutely essential. Skyrim 2 has a hard act to follow. [Jan 2016, p.67]
