This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is definitely going to be game of the year with a large open world, a large variety of perks, weapons, armor, and so much more.

A Dead Land: The game excels when it comes to its open world. Lots of enemies, new ways explore the world, and it's been reported that Fallout 4's map size is 11 minutes long vertically. And trust me it's large. The game looks gorgeous with a new creation engine. Some people say it isn't graphically up to date but you have to admit, it is a giant leap from Fallout New Vegas (2010). Plus with lots of new radio stations and lots of side quests in which other companions could possibly react towards the actions of these side missions and some may interest you. You can also create your own settlement that you have to keep resourced, defended, and a simple place to let settlers rest and go on with their business.

200-Life Crysis: The game takes place a few minutes or hours "depending how long you create your character" before the bombs have dropped. So you soon enter Vault 111 where a freak experiment goes horribly wrong. Since your 200 year cryogenic stasis, takes you deep into the future in where you have to find your son Shaun who has been kidnapped by the institute a isis like group who kidnaps survivors of the commonwealth. So it is your job to take him back.

Guns n' more bullets: Shooting is more playable. V.A.T.S. is still a thing in this Fallout installment but shooting a gun feels more shooty than your average Fallout game. Your guns no longer break so you can shoot with letting it break but it looses a more survival focused aspect but I didn't like survival focused aspects anyway. You can also customize your amazing little guy into a F***ing beast, with re-naming it, adding new weapon mods that are available to all weapons. Legendary enemies drop legendary loot and it is either amazing or surprising. You can also choose when you want to get a critical strike on an enemy or not. It you get enough hits on enemies, you will build up a bar that will fill up and create an execution command and vats no longer pause the game it will slow it down the game leaving vulnerable to an easy but cheap death, so act fast.

The Uglies returned: Enemies look more disgusting and more terrifying than ever before. With new ones such as bloodbugs and synths. Oh and if you hate deathclaws they're back and deadlier than ever. Enemies with a star next to them represent Legendary enemies. Enemies featured with a skull next to them, f***ing run. You can guess who is the first is to encounter.

Packin' a punch: The amount of base perks built in to the game are over 70 but go a little deeper and you will find over 200 perks. How, they are counted a mini perks to a perk. Let that sync in to your head before moving on. Bobbleheads make a return but a little more impactful than Fallout 3. A little hint the perception bobblehead is the first to be found usually.

The game runs at 1080p, 30fps or so I've heard. Smooth for the most part but sometimes dips but no where below 20fps. Lowest: 24fps that I have seen. Also mods are on Xbox One now. WOOHOO!

The reason I'm not giving this masterpiece a 10/10 is because that would mean it's absolutely perfect. Which I believe no matter how hard a game tries, it will never achieve that level of perfection, that said, Fallout 4 almost reaches that threshold. Nonetheless it still leaves some to be desired. The main quest line is a little short for my taste, but the almost overwhelming amount of side quests makes up for it. I have already sunk 30 hours into this beast, and I'm not ashamed to admit I'm addicted. There are currently some bugs, nothing absolutely game breaking, but annoying nonetheless. The gun play feels incredibly smooth, and it's satisfying to empty your reserves into an enemy's face. While they have completely abandoned skills, they replaced it with perks, a much better system I might add. There is no longer a morality system, but I always felt it was a little bland ,flawed, and albeit patronizing at times. If you need a game to tell you whether you made an ethical decision, well, you get the idea. The weapon/armor customization is to die for. So many possibilities, my favorite being a bayoneted rocket launcher for how impractical it sounds. Power armor feels more like, power armor, not another set of clothing that gives you the highest amount of defense. You will feel like a bad ass in that thing, and Bethesda's balancing solution was to make it run on fusion cores, meaning you can't wear it anytime anywhere. No longer do you have to worry about the condition of your weapon, a feature I'm sad to see go. I can go on and on about the mechanics, but the last one I feel on touching up on is the settlement builder. Needless to say I have spent over 10 hours messing with it, and it's completely optional. I love it, but if you don't there are no large repercussions, but you won't be able to reap their benefits and merits. Lastly, the graphics. Oh yes, they look surprisingly amazing, for a game of this size I mean. I was not expecting it to look this nice. Another reason I decided to to bestow this masterpiece a perfect score is the frame rate drops. It's not the most unstable thing in the world, but it could be a lot better. All-in-all, I love this game. It's a large leap from Bethesda's last entry into this franchise and I still feel I have a lot to experience. To be more precise I would give it a 9.75/10.

Although there are some minor glitches and technical problems with the game, this is definitely worth buying. The customization, huge world, and engaging story line are some of the many things that this game has to offer. I've already played 5 hours worth of this game, and I can tell you, you are in for one hell of a treat

Almost a perfect RPG! Fallout 4 gives you everything you need/want from a video-game, an immersive storyline, fantastic customization and a vast open world with 100s of locations to discover. Apart from some little bugs and 'bad' graphics for all you people out there who think that, the game is flawless. A MUST BUY!

I've spent around 80 hours with Fallout 4, and in those 80 hours I've discovered two things: there is allot of good, and a little bit of bad. Fallout 4 is a huge, dense, ambitious, open-world shooter RPG. To put it shortly: buy it. It's great. It's well worth the money. You will not be disappointed. For a more detailed explanation, read on.
    Pros:

Fallout 4 is a huge, dense, ambitious, open-world shooter RPG. To put it shortly: buy it. It's great. It's well worth the money. You will not be disappointed. For a more detailed explanation, read on.
    Pros:
Fallout 4 does many, many things right. From the very moment I started playing I found myself hooked.
-The graphics are quite good, despite what all of the other reviews may say. Granted, the textures are not the best they could be, and the facial animation certainly isn't close to life-like, but overall, the graphics and animations are solid. The moment I first stepped out of the vault and into the wasteland I found myself just looking into the trees, with rays of sunshine peering through them in a manner I haven't seen before. The game features volumetric lighting, which is a fancy term for describing that light will interact with dust/fog/water differently than a clear atmosphere. There are times where the sun shines in combination with the fog, the trees and/or buildings, and it creates a vibe I've never felt in games. Even the overall draw distance is quite good, but it does lack in some places. Overall, for being a big open world game with so many complicated mechanics, the graphics are great.

-The gameplay is soooo much better than the previous Fallouts. Well, I suppose that that is a matter of opinion, but if you're playing Fallout for a nice open-world shooter experience, then they absolutely nailed it. The gun play and mechanics are at least 5 times better than in previous Fallout games, where the shooting felt clunky, and more of a secondary feature. Guns feel like guns should feel in a shooter. The world itself is incredibly dense and filled with meaningful places. No two places look alike, and there is a certain excitement you feel when you find some place new. Some reviewers are complaining that Fallout 4 doesn't feature as many RPG mechanics as previous Fallout games, and I'll have to disagree. While dialogue options have been simplified, the world is still just as robust and dynamic as it was in previous Fallout games, with several options applying to most situations. You can side with multiple different factions, which in turn affect the way the game ends. The game features a rather large weapon and armor modification crafting system, which uses materials gathered from junk scattered throughout the world. This means, as Todd Howard said at E3, that all things have a purpose. In previous Fallout games, there were lots of items in the world, but many (I mean most of them) didn't have a purpose at all. There are many, many quests in Fallout 4, but many of them are the infinitely repeatable quests that you can play for as long as you can stomach them. The quests in the game are flawed in one sense: there isn't as many unique quests in Fallout 4 compared to previous installments in the series. This, however, doesn't effect the overall experience with the game. It still has lots of things to do, people to meet, places to discover, and adventures to be had.
    Cons:
Fallout 4 is an incredibly good game that I look forward to playing for at least the next year or two, but it does have some flaws. None of the items I'm about to point out damage the game in a sense that it isn't worth buying, as many reviewers have implied.
-Glitches. Yes, there is glitches. If you intend on buying a Bethesda game and don't expect a glitch or two, then why don't you go to the strip club and not expect to see boobs while you're at it. Glitches are a fact of life in the modern world of gaming. Some games, at release, are so buggy that they aren't even playable. Fallout 4 is not one of those games. While I did encounter several glitches in my first play through, I did not encounter any that would be considered game-breaking, and some were just downright silly or entertaining. One of the more common ones everyone is finding is a glitch after killing an enemy in V.A.T.S. in which the enemy flies an incredibly unrealistic/awesome distance after killing them.

-Some gameplay mechanics can be much better. Yes, despite this game consuming my life for the past 3 weeks, there are some things they could do better. Many of which will (hopefully) be fixed with a patch in the coming months. The companion system, for example, is not very good. Not in the sense of talking to them, but pretty much everything else. In Fallout 3 and New Vegas, your companions felt very valuable. They kicked ass. Often you could just let them do all the light work for you. But in Fallout 4, your companions feel pretty much worthless in combat. Other than Dogmeat. Dogmeat is pretty cool.
-Base Building could be much better. It is still quite extensive, but at times it feels clunky, and seems like it takes much more time to build something simple than it should.
Overall, Fallout 4 is an amazing game. :)

It's annoying because I've spent a ton of time on my own discovering places and talking to people, and then the game behaves strangely when I'm SUPPOSE to interact with them. Aside from that, there is a new focus on unique guns and the shooting mechanics. Fallout 4 feels much more like a shooter than its predecessors. There are a few hundred places to discover, with rewards laying everywhere if you put in the effort. It's probably not the best game this year, but so far its the most fun (72 hours played) Expand

The only thing that keeps this game from a perfect 10 is the glitches that come with every Bethesda game. Almost endless game play, a vast open world to explore, and tons of ways to play, I really didn't expect this game to be as good as it is being new to the Fallout series. I was a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls and this game plays nearly identical to those.

The game is amazing. I just can't stop playing. The details on game are amazing, can't understand the complaints about this. Some bugs, but just funny stuff like bethesta is used to have. The world they created is huge, plenty of details, immersion, mods and settlement are amazing and better than any before created.

Positives - Exploring the immensely detailed environment, very well done character interactions and a breathtaking soundtrack.

Negatives - Can be intimidating to series newcomers (who are likely to die many times) and bugs (especially with companions).

With that said, as a fan of all of the previous games including the 90s PC-only turn-based versions, Fallout 4 is at the very least a massively upgraded version of Fallout 3 - bugs and all.

The graphics and map size of the game have exponentially increased; providing hours and hours of interesting and fun things to do. Exploring the world of Fallout in sand-box bliss has always been a staple of the Fallout experience; and it still is (SAVE OFTEN). The new addition of crafting and mods has accelerated this game the most for me, however, it's also clear that Bethesda really worked on the small details to make this a fantastic game; from voice acting to a deluge of easter eggs, this is the Fallout we've all been waiting for. This is Fallout's Skyrim.

    - Shooting is so much better now. Without being close to a true FPS, it will still satisfy people who likes shooting without the V.A.T.S. system;
    - About the V.A.T.S. system, it was also improved to make it more action oriented. Now the time slows without stopping, helping players without taking out the sense of urgency in battle;
    - Graphics are way better than any other Bethesda game ever made. Compared to other FO and TES games, Fallout 4 is colorful and offers a large array of environments that the player can live in;
    - The new dialogue system (à la Mass Effect) was said to be a downgrade to previous games. It is however very good, thanks to the above average acting by both male and female voice actors. Having a voice also gives an opportunity for Fallout 4 to have more "cinematic" moments and more emotions throughout the game;
    - The story is one of the most detailed ever made by Bethesda;
    - The crafting system and the progression system (SPECIAL) are better than ever with new ways for player to build what they truly want to become;
    - Settlements and Power Armors (as they are now) are pretty good additions too.

The only lacks in the game are probably some minor bugs (that are actually more funny than gamebreaking) and the companion AI (that I feel is not up to what can be done). Fallout 4 is the new definition of RPG in 2015 and is really the peak of the serie. It is the Skyrim of Fallout 3.

Crafting and item hunting is fairly well done, although it would have been much more enjoyable without such a hash item weight limitation.

At the beginning there are really not many interesting questchains. None of the factions seemed that interesting or intriguing to me at first. It does get better the more you progress. The new graphics patch has improved the visuals significantly, the environments look very good. Voice acting is sometimes not that good in german, but good in english.

Many animations and coversation cutscenes are fairly wooden and not really believable. The writing sometimes doesnt seem to be very smart.

The pip boy interface is a bloody nightmare. Locating a specific item is fairly hard and often not the entire name of an item is displayed. Navigating is not intuitive.

The music is quite good, some City tunes are really beautiful.

Overall the game felt a bit like a drag in the beginning, mainly due to the fairly lackluster, generic quests. However, this seems to be a game that gets better the longer you play. After a while the bizzarre world really captivates you quite nicely and the story picks up pace after a while

New armour and weapon modding system is an amazing improvement on previous games. Power armour is badass and comes with its own mods too. The spoken dialogue and new conversation style was something I was really against but I stopped caring about it so much as the game went on and I feel like it really enhanced the story, which for the first and second act was really good. While also controversial, I found the new perk system fine and occasionally more intuitive than other editions, although I did find myself wishing for a little more variety in what new abilities they gave me.

The story towards the end lacked as I didn't feel any kind of personal involvement. Things just kept happening around you. Also, the results of your sentence choices rarely have any effect on the overall direction of the conversation. In F:NV alliances could be brokered and factions ignored, but here there seems to be a 'kill everything' approach to all the faction storylines. This is also seen in the general mission variety, which usually boils down to a 'kill everything' checklist.

Oh and of course, bugs. Lots of bugs.

I think Fallout 4 managed to become an enjoyable experience greater than the sum of its parts. Glaring flaws make it far from a perfect game but it is definitely worth the money for its 60+ hours of quality gameplay, For those it really clicks with hundreds more hours can surely be found in the nooks and crannies of the wasteland.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I would give this game an 8.5 but 9 make more sense than an 8 for this game.
    Pros:
+ It's huge. I'm 60hrs in, discovered 210 locations, finished over 100 quests, and there's still about 1/3 of the map I have no yet explored. Do NOT judge this game based on flat, playable area. This game is very dense.
+ The story great. You have some real tough choices to make and none of them seem like the right one. This is the best story Bethesda has had since Moirrowind.
+ Gameplay is great. The gunplay feels fine and, if you're good at FPS, you can certainly play through the game without VATS with no trouble. Even though they took away the ability to micromanage skill points, this game really takes away the need to min/max on Survival playthroughs. You can build the character you want and still make it through the most difficult content.
+ Voice acting is much imporoved. No obviously recycled voices for any characters.
+ The customization is fantastic. If you get bored with the "same weapons" that is your fault. You can mod any gun you want if you invest the perks.
+ Settlement building is a great meta that will allow someone to keep playing without re-running the same content.
+ There are tons of hidden gems that give the world a lot of character.

    Cons:
    - Companions are useless, annoying, and only good for their quests and being pack mules.
    - Game is GLITCHY. It just is. I haven't had near the bugs that some are complaining about, and none have been gamebreaking so far.
    - Graphics are not a con, but they're certainly not a pro. So I've added them here. The ambient/lighting effects are top notch. Everything else is meh to bad.
    - The radio station is basically the same thing as Fallout 3. There are thousands of useable songs from that era. WIsh they would have expanded this libary more.
    - There are a lot of obvious quality of life improvements that were overlooked. Some are so obvious I simply can't believe they would ignore them.

    Conclusion:
This game is not a 9, nor is it an 8. Everything that makes a Bethesda game so good is right here. If you're looking for something "revolutionary" however, keep looking. It will likely keep you entertained and engrossed longer than any other game on the market today. If Fallout 3 was Oblivion with guns, this is certainly Skyrim with guns. Fallout 4 is a must-buy.

The graphics are not up to the standard of the likes of witcher 3, yet this is offset by the ability to interact with nearly everything in the game. You can scrap down, move, kill, destroy, build, paint and tinker with so much it is nearly overwhelming and it really encourages you to experiment. The satisfaction of clearing your homestead, fortifying it and arming the place to the teeth is akin to animal crossing meets far cry with power armour. You are encouraged not just to have a life within the game, but to build one you care about and defend to the death. The story and voice acting range from functional to flawed to down right funny. Sure no one has threatened to rip off my melon and **** down my neck but a few bad mouthed raiders have given me some reasonable lip. I don't really mind that though because I'm too busy systematically raiding every building, cave and base I can find, locating surprises you could easily miss. I like that because if I play again, as with FO3 I know I'll find something cool I missed the first time around. Don't listen to the haters, they're just bitter they are nearly a decade older than when FO3 came out and don't have the time, patience or creativity anymore that the game requires you to Invest to reap its richest rewards. I am also a HUGE Bethesda fan, playing the Elder Scrolls series since Morrowind. Morrowind and Oblivion are some of my favorite RPGs of all time. With all that said Fallout 4 has been an incredible game with many interesting and fun elements. For all of you who don't like to read I'm going to do you a favor and break it down into four points: 1. Gameplay 2. Sound 3. New Features 4. Problems I have with it

    1. The gun gameplay is superb with so many guns and customizations to choose from no two guns feel the same. Sure the controls aren't as snappy or controllable as Battlefied or COD but that's hardly to be expected from an RPG... VATS is as helpful as always providing a helpful slow down to the madness during combat but now it keeps time going which adds an element of risk to your selection. Will they move in time to avoid your shot or dodge behind a piece of cover? Lastly because of the viewing distances sniping and long range combat is better than ever before. I personally like to run a ranged character specializing in sneak, perception, and agility. To conclude, the gameplay is classic Fallout at its best, refined and tuned to keep up with modern gaming but not too different to loose that frantic Fallout feel.

    2. So many of you have complained about the voice acting for the main characters and that it is a travesty equal to treason and punishable by death. Why?? When did having a voiced character become a bad thing? I must have been out of town and missed the memo. Just as many great games (Dragon Age Inquisition, Mass Effect, BioShock just to name a few) have done in the past Fallout has given a voice to our character. Maybe some of you don't like it because it takes away from your connection to the character? What ever it is if it really bothers you that much GET OVER IT. It is not a big deal its just a voice and doesn't take away from the gameplay and if it really bothers you that much you have my permission to plug your ears and hum a tune every time your character talks. Moving on, the music score is classic drawing much of the music that made FO3 great and adding some new classics.

    3. Customization out the wazzoo, Settlements, Facial sculpting, power armor customization, customization of weapons, customization, customization oh yeah and customization. There are so many things in this game that you can change and make your own! This leads to many different possibilities for dramatically different play throughs. Something to me that makes Bethesda RPGs so great are the many different customizations of character, weapons, skills, armor, and even story and FO4 delivers this over and over. Another new feature to add to this list are good graphics. I know that some of you will think "Wahh good graphics aren't a new feature wahhh" and I will respond by saying um yes they are. Maybe many of you forgot or just have issues with memory but FO3's graphics SUCK!! Seriously go back and try playing now you will be amazed at how poorly the graphics look. Want to know why? Because it is a massive game! you cant expect a game that huge to have photorealistic graphics (at least not yet). Here is a revelation that will amazing you... FO4 does have good graphics! Sure its not going to win any awards for its graphics but its on par with every other massive game Bethesda has come out with. So until all you people who whine about graphics get a masters degree in game/graphic design, can it.

    4. Lastly here are my problems: it wen the route of Skyrim. Bethesda has done this thing recently where it is trying to appeal to you silly casual gamers (what ever that is) and has dumbed down their game. Personally I thought Skyrim was only decent and lacked a TON of cool, albeit, more complicated features oblivion did (off the top of my head spell creation). Bethesda has done it again with FO4 where they have taken out some of the features that will in the long run make each of the characters you create more unique and lost some of its depth in gameplay. An example of this is the fact that now all you have for skills is the S.P.E.C.I.A.L system instead of each skill being leveled up with use. This makes it so that you don't have to learn to use skills before you put points into them and makes your character feel over powered right off the start. Secondly I wish they hadn't made power armor so abundant and so accessible right away... Power armor should be something you work to and establishes you as a king/queen of the wasteland later in the game.

To recap this lengthy review (thanks to those who actually read this even though I doubt it was many). FO4 is an INCREDIBLE game that is only going to improve over time with updates and DLC. Give it a chance, stop being a cry baby, and actually try playing it through and you might realize that you have a piece of gaming history.

The graphics are improved over Skyrim, and may not be quite on par with some other current gen games, but I really do not care it works and is a massive RPG game(graphics beat Dragon Age Inquisition by far at least). The combat is fun as well, though I am annoyed at how hard it is to aim down the sites and will dock a half point for this annoyance that I have ran into so far. I am also pretty disappointed about the removal of the item degradation, and knock the other point off for that bringing my rating to a 8.5/10. Overall the positive changes outweigh the two negatives I listed, so I will round up to a solid 9/10 and will continue to enjoy this great addition to the Fallout serious!

The master chief collection ran perfect for me also soooo...The story is deep, Theres lots and lots to do. It can actually be overwhelming to a point. When I got my xbox one, I actually wanted the Madden 25 bundle instead. After playing Fallout 4 for ONE HOUR, I was completely amazed. It's beautiful, large, enveloping, and unsettling as hell at points. The odd graphical hiccup is noticeable and funny, but it's an otherwise near perfect game and a monument to this current generation of gaming.

The game has 70 base perks with 229 of different ranks and each do something based on each special attribute it is in, The special system and perks can help give a type of class build to your character.

There are a number of new features that have come to Fallout 4 to make it one of the greatest Fallout's in the franchise.
    1. You can now customize your weapons. melee and armour with mods to suit your playstyle. There are also brand new weapons in the game.
    2. The map is really big
    3. Power Armour isn't something you equip. Power Armour is basically a tank suit.
    4. More dialogue then Fallout 3 and Skyrim combined
    5. Weapons now have can do melee damage (You can bash your gun on an enemy)
    6. NO MORE LEVEL CAP
    7. You can now sprint
    8. V.A.T.S now slows down time + no more random critical hits
    9. You can fly in vertibirds

Overall with all my hours put in to this fantastic game, I highly recommend this game to previous Fallout fans and newcomers to the franchise.

One negative I have with the game is that there doesn't seem to be a way to be evil. In other words, you have to be a good guy or gal. I usually don't play that way anyways, but I've always liked how in Fallout games you can decide what kind of person you want to be.

This is a great game and once the DLC and console Mods come out it will be amazing.

I am not sure where to begin, there is just so much to talk about,i'm going to ignore comparing it to the past games as they are a different kind of fallout,as this one takes a more borderlands approach then for say skyrim. While i'm sad the RPG elements were sidelined,i'm only going to focus on the main game.
Best combat system in a bethesda game to date, combat is far more fluid and fun.

Massive immersive world, everything from weather to random encounters
Top notch crafting, the best I have seen in a RPG game to date.
I constantly saw myself looking for the plentiful collectibles in this game, simply to see every little detail.
There is also a lot more then simply combat, the settlement idea is a grand idea, and I hope to see it in the elder scrolls 6 instead of the on-rail hearth fire house building.
The quests are dynamic and interesting.

    Here are my only problems
Speech is a bit pointless,as no matter the choice you make in the speech, other then intimidating/bribing/persuading.
And the perk/skills system, which isn't a massive deal,I just wish they went more with skyrim or the past games instead.

Overall it is a outstanding game, and I believe the problems aforementioned will be fixed with mods.

Overall though the game lived up to my expectations, but rarely surpass them. There were bugs galore, as in every bethesda game. The combat was severally improved, so props to Bethesda on that, but in turn, we lost some of the role playing aspects that defined fallout. The story was initially cliched but left me deeply thinking halfway on who I should side with, so the lack of player choice wasn't a total letdown for me. That along with weak settlement construction and some cannon defying choices bethesda made, Fallout 4 is a great game, but far from perfect. Fallout 4 Image This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I feel bad for all the hate Bethesda is getting. People need to realize something important:

This game is much worse on consoles due to frame rate being capped at 30FPS and textures being compressed. Load times are also excruciating on console.

This is not just Bethesda's fault, this is the fault of the people for buying a $350 console that is essentially a $700 strength branded gaming PC, and expecting $1400 gaming PC power. Maybe games like Battlefront were optimized for console better, but on PC with everything on Ultra, this game is everything I wanted it to be in terms of graphics.

Although textures here and there could be twice as definitive, the natural light and shading and atmospheres created are 11/10.

Character animations and what not, as with all Bethesda games, is their weak spot. But its completely tolerable.

At first I thought I was going to be majorly disappointed in this game, for a few reasons:

The intro, time in the vault, and first walk in the wasteland is extremely concentrated, fast, and simple.
All 1-100 skill leveling from Fallout 3 has been condensed into a singular SPECIAL/Perk Chart. It feels bottle necked and simplified for extremely casual players, and this is not what Fallout 3 was.

The first important NPC tells you to jump into power armor and allows you to control a settlement in like five minutes. The first Brotherhood of Steel guy you meet asks you to join. This is all cheesy in my eyes and I wanted drastic broad-stroke story before I received Power Armor and General status.

In 2015, all forms of entertainment feel required to pull the user in, FAST. I think this is a bi-product of that unfortunate concept.

Fortunately enough though, after a few quests and with playing on the hardest difficulty, this game is the hardcore challenge I wanted. Quick-save exists for a reason, you can get your ass kicked. On the hardest difficulty, two swipes from a Yao Guai and you're dead. And that's with good armor.

The settlement building is quite allowing, and you do not run into an anticlimactic Tony-Hawk style inventory cap. Mods and DLC will surely add tons of content to settlement building over the next two years, and even with the vanilla release content, you can accidentally spend hours building your bases.

Weapon/Armor Modding feels just right. There's complexity for sure, but it's not revolting and easy to get into.

The worst part of this game is the story. It started off so fast and I do not care about who was killed. The main character has no emotion, despite the fact that they give you to social option to be like "IM LOOKING FOR MY SON" all the time. People need to realize though, story isn't what made Fallout 3 either. It was all the systems throughout scavenging, traveling, character customization and combat challenges. THIS GAME STILL HAS ALL OF THAT.

The thing that is most controversial to me is the map size. The map size is smaller than Skyrim/Fallout 3, BUT, in their defense it is quite dense. I think we should expect map size to double with all the DLC that eventually comes out.

The Story grips you from the very get go, the character creation is pure enjoyment and fun having quirky comments made as you adjust your characters looks to the way you want them.

The dialogue is great and so is the voice acting its not just plain boring robotic acting, the combat is exactly what you expect from a Bethesda game which is nothing to flash but its enjoyable as anything.

The Perk tree is really quite amazing just looking at it you know leveling up is going to be real satisfying working towards getting your characters build the way you want it.

Oh and it has its own radio stations of classical music, which I love games that do that similar to bioshock with its classical songs. Really adds to the atmosphere of the game.

This is just from me playing it for 3 hours so to all those 0's out there, get a life and go back to your Black Ops 3.

In terms of the game, some choices were made that made it better, some choices may not be too great, but as a game? It's incredible for what sixty dollars can buy you. People are satisfied spending sixty bucks EVERY year for Call of Duty or sports games which is the SAME. EXACT. THING. EVERY. TIME. but when it comes to this, "Oh it's the same game, nothing too new" like really? Does that make any sense? Did Halo 5 falling short upset people that now they have to knock down a titan to make it seem balanced? Users shouldn't be allowed to review a game. How is this game a 0? 0 is non-functional. I'm pretty damn sure this game is functional.

In short: The game is certainly worth the money and your time. It's going to have things that will upset some or make other extremely happy but in general? It's still the fallout you know and love and for people who believe that this game is a 5.4? or a 4.3? Go **** yourself.

The Fallout series has always been prized for its immersive world full of colorful characters and questionable life choices. You can be an angel among men and women or a total jerk, but in Fallout 4, things are a bit more ambiguous.
    (Be weary. Spoilers ahead.)

The game starts a good deal of time in the future, long after the events of 2008’s Fallout 3. The Wasteland is no longer a completely grueling desert of radiation, but a somewhat blooming foundation for the future. Sure, parts are still heavily irradiated and ghouls and super mutants roam about, but there are blue skies and green grass!

One of the first things players will get to do is customize their Wastelander. For the first time, you can select a gender for your character, and players may even hear their name out loud from the game’s characters. There are over 250 names supported.

After customizing your character, you find out you and your family have been selected to move into Vault 111 pending nuclear holocaust. And what do you know? Literally five minutes after sealing the deal, the bombs drop.

You and your husband/wife and newborn baby head to the vault and are cryo-frozen without consent.
Events transpire, which will not be spoiled here, and then the Wasteland is yours to explore. So what’s different this time around?

Well, conversations have been simplified for entry-level players, but choosing your dialogue options is still a blast. It’s a lot more accessible and the camera is adjustable during conversations, a series first.

Gunplay has been greatly improved and it’s a lot more active. The V.A.T.S. system, which allows players to slow down time and choose a body part to target, has been made a real-time component.
Also improved and made ten times more enjoyable is power armor. Oh, the power armor.

The player’s first experience with power armor has them taking on a group of raiders while defending the Minutemen, a militia aimed at protecting the Commonwealth, a large portion of Boston.

You get in this giant, hulking suit, jack a minigun from a helicopter and take the raiders down. Oh, and then a Deathclaw shows up. I’ll let you experience that for yourself. Overall, Fallout 4 retains the charm of previous Bethesda titles.

The adventure and imagination of The Elder Scrolls and the dark, comedic humor of Fallout is all here.
The game is packed with content, side quests, voice acting and more, and you’ll want to play it a few times to catch everything.

It’s more of the same, but better. Like the game’s opening lines say: “War, war never changes.”

The world is massive. You most likely will not run out of things to do for many hours in. The NPC are great and voice acted well. The gameplay in general is amazing. However, we come to the biggest issue with the game: technical hiccups. Like many of Bethesda's other games the game can be glitchy and is not well optimized. I will give the cruddy graphics a pass since the game is massive, however, frame rate drops even on top PCs is unacceptable. Well all have given Bethesda a pass due to the scale of their games. However, its 2015 and they are still there. It is starting to become ridiculous. Bethesda NEEDS to update their engine. Other bugs include: Companions running straight into enemy fire or getting blown up randomly with no enemies around. Also quests have been known to glitch causing you to have to revert back to a previous save file to complete it. Luckily the massive scale and great gameplay still allows this game a positive review. The game overcomes many of flaws and is well worth 60 dollars. Expand

One of my top games of the year, Fallout 4 was a satisfying quest that I dumped over 100 hours into on my first run. If you played Fallout 3 and enjoyed the combat, the exploration, and the grind of collecting junk, this game is for you. If you are hopeful that they took the best parts of Fallout 3's dialogue and choice system and ran with it, you may be a bit disappointed.

I loved the crafting aspect, and the ability to make use of all the junk found in the wasteland. Weapon and armor upgrades are nothing new to gaming, but I feel Fallout 4 found a way to make it feel fresh and rewarding to upgrade items over time by finding the necessary components.

The story was a bit weird, but by no means did I feel let down by it as I came to my conclusion of it. Fallout 4 is one of the best releases of 2015 by all means in my opinion, and much of the criticism comes out of a place of not being able to please everyone. I was by all means satisfied with my Fallout 4 experience and look forward to another play through in the future.

This game is a great, not as good as new Vegas but still better than fallout 3. You get to build your own settlements. You can join different factions based on your beliefs ( just like new Vegas). There is so much more you can do in this game. BUT hype got the best of this game. Bethesda didn't ask what the fans wanted so they put in what they wanted. Could've been a much better game

Having spent 40 hours in the game, I'd say I'm impressed. I'm big fan of Fallout 3 and Skyrim, so while not perfect, this title still hits all the big marks for me - exactly what I was expecting and greatly improved on the model (for the most part).

As far as a 1st person immersive world - it's the best yet. Environments and insanely better than previous Bethesda titles. They might not be at the top of the list, but the wasteland never looked to GOOD. Character models are a weak link, but I can forgive that because I play the game for the environment.

Quests - Like all Bethesda games, I expect some repetition eventually. You have to when you eventually play 300 hours in a single game. So far It's easily the most imaginative story lines yet. The stories within stories (the ones you have to simply observe) are priceless. The key to keeping your gameplay fresh is to NOT rush through the whole map right away - Don't be in a hurry to see everything. Take your time and save things so you still have something new to explore after your character has many hours under their belt.

-I do miss the skills being separate. I prefered the ability to control my skills myself and if I wanted to build up Sneak, Small guns, and Medic quickly, I could keep dumping points into all of them at each level up. Now, Its reduced to picking a Perk that specializes in one thing. And hoping I find skill magazines. I'm sure it's all there as before, but I don't prefer how they are currently organizing it - and dolling it out.

-I also miss that weapons don't deteriorate - it was such a rush to scavenge additional weapons knowing I didn't have to carry them around - I could immediately use them to repair and improve my weapons and have instant gratification. But I also acknowledge the new crafting system provides a more creative and robust solution to that - it just takes longer and I just haven't spent that much time crafting yet.

-I DON'T miss Karma. I don't believe in Karma. If I want to steal something and no one is around, I don't need the lords of the universe judging me. I much much prefer what they've done here - Your follower judges you. You earn their trust (and get rewarded for it) if they like your behavior. It's is so much more real. We DO make different decisions based on who we are around - plus you might have to play 'out of character' because your current follower doesn't like stealing - OR you roleplay that your character has to "play along" in order to get what you need from them. Which ever way, it's so much better.

-Gunplay is much better. I've heard people say it's terrible. No, Fallout 3's gunplay was terrible. This might not be FPS, but the game is not a FPS. I think it works great and I LOVE the new improvement on VATS.

-I would prefer some tutorials because some of the systems are difficult to understand at first. But then again, I figured them out. I don't mind being a little confused and resorting to a quick web tutorial. It's just up to Bethesda to gamble - what is ok for people to figure out and what is too hard? They run the risk of losing people if they get too frustrated out of the gate. I personally, was more than fine with it.

-Bugs. I have yet to run into any game ending bugs. Skyrim used to freeze fairly regular, so this seems WAY more stable than Skyrim. I don't care if a scorpion walks halfway through a wall or if a random raider is floating above ground. The game has been very stable for a Bethesda game. I also cut them some slack in that I believe it's likely impossible to fully debug this game before release. It's too big and there's way too many varibables. I don't think they have a choice but to do the best they can knowing that the mass public will end up revealing large amounts of bugs. If you hate buts that much, you should know not to play a Bethesda game until a couple of patches have been released. I don't think they are lazy, I think its just the fact of an open world this big and dense.

-Crafting settlments is interesting and can be a mini game in its own. This is the 'minecraft' part of the game. While it doesn't seem to be necessary to the story at all (I believe it can be ignored for the most part), it's still a refreshing break and allows for another way in for players. I've heard of some players being so wrapped in settlement building that they largely ignore the rest of the real game. THAT is the definition of an OPEN WORLD. That is the future. Literally do anything you want, as long as you are finding fulfillment in it. I hope to see that sort of thing evolved even further in future Bethesda titles.

In short, I love it. I was hoping it was more of an 'experience' than a 'game'. They certainly delivered!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Being new to the Fallout series, I enter with no preconceptions. I found the game a lot of fun and am over 12 days of play time. I enjoyed the quest lines and the options on how to deal with the factions. I choose to walk the line and keep all of them friendly until the end when the final battle with the Institute was required, or at least the way I decided to go. I did manage to complete the main quest while retaining allied status with all three remaining factions; Minutemen, Railroad, and BOS. Though I did get a quest to attack the BOS by one, I can just ignore it. This keeps my quest options open for now. Sure there are bugs and issues with building, and the faction quests do get boring and repetitive, and once your done with the main quest, it becomes more of exploration, and for me getting the perks associated with the companions topped out. I hope the DLC is good and improves on the play-ability of the game. For me, I got my monies worth out of it and really enjoyed the versatility of game play. I think the building was the key hook for me as if it was just a point and shoot game, it would not have kept my interest. Expand

I'm a huge Fallout fan, although there are some problems with Fallout 4, it is amazing and probably the best Fallout iteration yet. I miss the Rpg elements from the last games, but I would have easily paid twice what I did for this game. Bethesda is by far my favorite game studio, keep up the good work.

This game was near flawless. I had issues definitely with the dialogue and the lack of a karma system, but I can't help but think many people are being unfair on this game. The exploring was fun and so was building the civilization. The side quests are definitely lacking but Bethesda and their DLC will shine through like always. I honestly find this to be one of the best Fallouts because it fixes some issues that I had with the previous ones but it does do some things wrong (like every Fallout). Fallout 4 brings the best combat and crafting in the series while bringing an excellent open world with a really interesting story with great characters and factions that bring shades of grey. Fallout 4 brings the best combat and crafting in the series while bringing an excellent open world with a really interesting story with great characters and factions that bring shades of grey. The one real problem that Fallout 4 has is just because of the feedback that Bethesda got before it's launch. Bethesda obviously tried to make it similar to Fallout 3 because before Fallout 4 came our it was praised as the best Fallout. Now that everyone got what they want they're unhappy. But I do agree that Fallout 4 should've had a deeper RPG system. If Fallout 4 had deeper RPG mechanics it could possibly be the best Fallout in the series. But due to it having the weakest RPG mechanics in the series it is held back. I feel like 1 mechanic doesn't define a game. It still is an RPG with big decisions. People tend to over look the fact that you are 1 person and some how you have the power to push an entire army into victory costing the lives of other entire armies. That is a dramatic change in the world how has that been over looked? The one other problem I have with Fallout 4 is the lack of side quests. There is a great main story and great side quests but there aren't as many LONG side quests as in previous titles. I still love these games and I hope that Far Harbor brings what the community wants because that's all Bethesda has been trying to do. Expand

What I look for in a Fallout game is enough immersive content to last me hundreds of hours. And I got it. Say what you want about the graphics (I think they look pretty decent), but any smart gamer knows that graphics are perhaps the LEAST important aspect when it comes to making a great game.

The main story is not a particularly strong one, but when I play a Fallout game, I just like to explore these new worlds more than anything else.

Finally, don't let the haters decide for you, because in reality, some of them probably still like playing it. If they really hated it THAT much, then they wouldn't be as invested in the game. You can bet that many of them still hang around for new DLC and Mods.

Yeah, you will love this game if you like loot model RPG. You can pick up everything around and use it many ways (crafting, build settlements, sell). But my feeling is, this game si much more empty than Skyrim. In Skyrim I had feeling, there are tons of small stories outside and it has given me motivation to explore the world. Here is main reason just a loot. But in fact I have spent about 80 hours in this game and it was fun. I have not spotted any serious bugs or tech issues. No some kind of bug-fest like in Skyrim. Much better crafting and build models, than Skyrim. FPS model fine and funny. Summary good-quality game for RPG fans, but Skyrim is better for me. Expand

  3. More Fallout 3.9 than 4, but still absolutely essential. Skyrim 2 has a hard act to follow. [Jan 2016, p.67]
