Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot on Xbox One is a thoroughly enjoyable game, but those familiar with the series will get more out of it. Despite some relatively minor flaws, regardless of who you are there’s lots of fun to be had here.

Outside of some technical hiccups and some boring fetch quests, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's colorful presentation and over-the-top battles should appeal to hardcore fans and baby-faced newcomers alike.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has its faults, and it certainly won’t appeal to anyone who isn’t already a DBZ fan, but if you fall into the niche that this title is aiming for, you will be very pleased. This is one of the most fun interpretations of the DBZ plotline that I have played in a very long time, and in my opinion it well outshines its brothers in the same franchise.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot manages to become the best exponent to revive Akira Toriyama's history in the videogame industry.

DBZ: Kakarot has taken some interesting steps to move on from the Xenoverse games, but only some of them have paid off. While it’d great to follow Goku’s arc through the Z saga’s, the fact remains that this is far from the first time we’ve done so. The graphics, music, voice acting and cut scenes all look great though, and take some of the sting out of the repetition. The RPG elements are laid on quite deep, though the “open world” is hardly as open as first impressions suggest, with proper progression – both in the world and for your characters – locked off until you get to certain beats in the story.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot may not have the deepest combat mechanics but there's no denying just how exciting it is to play. From its jaw-dropping action to its top-notch presentation, this is one epic RPG that fans and newcomers alike can easily enjoy.

This game feels just like you’re playing through the anime series at a more rapid pace. Besides Dragonball Fighter Z, it’s the first game I’ve seen to capture the feel of the series so very well and with a good bit of quality. Dragonball Z: Kakarot is a great companion piece to the old DBZ series. Whether you’re new to the series, are watching it right now or have seen it back in the past (like me) then there is something here to enjoy for you. Fans will get the most of the game, but newcomers will get introduced to the series rather well.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an easily lovable game, and fans of the DBZ franchise would do well to check it out to experience the epic saga once again, just this time in all new light.

While we've seen the story of Goku and the Z Warriors before, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot offers enough detail and fun gameplay to warrant a purchase.

With Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot you can simply enjoy an epic story from start to finish, while engaging in action RPG gameplay that's both rewarding and exciting despite its shortcomings.

While some of it feels a little dated and the side missions don’t diverge as much as they could, the overall package is a deeply engrossing fresh way to experience an old staple for any Dragon Ball Z fan.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot nails the structure and features of a perfect anime-based action RPG, but it lacks in content and execution, with too many uninteresting side quests and underdeveloped features. It still remains a great Dragon Ball experience allowing us to live Goku's and friends adventures better than before though, so fans of the anime won't be let down.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a Story-Driven Fighting Exploration Game featuring the Story and Characters we've loved for years. DBZ:K FollowsDragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a Story-Driven Fighting Exploration Game featuring the Story and Characters we've loved for years. DBZ:K Follows Goku's tale throughout the DBZ story, from the Saiyans to Majin Buu. With extraordinary cell shading, the graphics feel as close to watching an anime as I've yet to experience. The classic sound of DBZ Music has been remixed, and well placed keeping the feel of the Dragon Ball universe with every moment of gameplay. The Fighting Physics are reminiscent of the Tenkaichi Series from years past, simple to learn but takes some time to master. Now you even have some control over your teammates in battle, being able to activate special moves from them, adding a deeper element of strategy to battle. The fighting is just as intense and fast-paced as it should be, lending the feeling of moving at extreme speeds, and hitting harder than a train. The different areas of the game are open to explore, providing crafting supplies, random battles, and side quests for you to complete. The story has been polished up nicely, adding new instances, making some of the moments feel deeper, and removing almost all of the fluff, without harming the core of the story. With original voices, including the Narration voice of Doc Morgan. There is so much more to the game like the community board, where you can gather characters from the series, and unite them in thematic communities to enhance different aspects of play, from fighting and training to cooking and making Zeni! Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is hands down, the best installment of the Dragon Ball Video Game series! Full Review »

I was worried in the beginning and thinking to myself if this is how the entire game is going to progress. But after about an hour, and getting used to the mechanics, it's absolutely incredible.
Graphics are the best I've seen from any DBZ title, and can contend with some of the top current games at the moment in that regard.
The game play and fighting is incredible. I am engaged in every fight. Bosses all have different fighting styles and their supers are all different, which requires different tactics for dodging or blocking them.
The fact it's an rpg and i can go at my own pace and loot around is fantastic.

i love this game and could potentially put 100+ hours into it. I'm 20 in so far and its addicting.

The only downside is this is a game based off of Goku. But in the beginning you RARELY play him. maybe 1-2 hours of my 20 has been goku, which kind of stinks.

But other than that, its an A+ title and the best DBZ game of the franchise. It's a breath of fresh air compared to the other online titles.
