The game isn't terrible, but it does feel unpolished - as if it were rushed for a deadline. The primary city, "Toki Toki City" seems quite bare and empty in offline mode. Sure, there are some NPCs that will say a few words in text, but not much else aside from game-mode NPCs.

There is free-roaming in Toki Toki city, but it still feels quite restricted. One cannot run, dash, or fly, and the city itself (divided into three parts) is actually quite small.

The voice-overs are decent for all of the recognizable DBZ universe characters. However, the created character is a mute. There are options for voices in create-a-character, but it seems to only apply to brief combat sounds.

The combat is decent, albeit repetitive, but what else would you really expect from a Dragonball fighting game? I do enjoy the freedom provided during combat. It's somewhat free-roaming and definitely has more of a Dragonball universe feel to it.

I do really like the RPG elements that were implemented into the game. It is fun to begin with a rather weak character and after fighting and gaining levels, turn into a very powerful combatant. You are provided with three points each time you level up to distribute into six different attribute categories - each category is unique and has a different impact on your playing style.

There are many different skills/techniques, equipment, and items that can be obtained throughout the game to customize your character's appearance and abilities.

Overall, it is definitely a step in the right direction for games set in the Dragnball universe, but it's not quite there yet.

I would give it a 7.5, but I'm rounding down to a 7 for some of the minor bugs in the game.

Fans of the dragon ball series will enjoy Xenoverse for it's great character creation and ability to customize your fighter almost anyway you want it. The story to Xenoverse is interesting with the ability of time travel thrown in it let's them make any fight possible and it makes for some creative alternate universes to battle in. Some story missions will see easy or just right when it comes to difficulty but then around the half way point the game's difficulty spikes extremely hard and forces you to grind levels in side quests until you are hopefully strong enough to stand a chance. This can become extremely frustrating and make the game feel tedious, Side quests do vary in difficulty and opponent so it's not to boring but with the story being the only way to unlock all the characters you are forced to complete it.
Overall if your a fan of the DBZ series or anyone who played the games in the past and are used to the unforgiving fights you will enjoy this game. It's Character creation and over-world is perfect for any DBZ fan.

This game was extremely fun for the first 60 or so hours, but after I beat the story mode and did a bit of post-game grinding, I really lost interest in it. It was a lot of fun to play through the first time, but the thought of doing it all over again with a new character seemed like more of a chore than anything fun.

This game is very different from the Dragon ball games from a few years ago. I like this game but I have to say it has problems. I like a challenge but this game is a little much especially during the Buu Saga. The fighting is fun with fights such as 3V3's but the fighting system is clunky. I do like the story a lot with plot being about fixing history. It has a nice mix of game and anime cut scenes. I do like this game but I have to say this, get ready for the difficulty.
Sometimes grinding on side quests can help but that's no fun. In conclusion, Dragon ball fans should buy this game but be ready for the difficulty.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse was one of the games I bought when it was on sale.

I really loved creating a character and getting into the story of the saga. The things I liked were the combat, the soundtrack, Dragon Ball Super animations in the game and the GT DLC. But the reason why I give it a 7 is very specific: The master bar fills up very slowly, there is no Super Saiyan Vegeta 4 and I

But the reason why I give it a 7 is very specific: The master bar fills up very slowly, there is no Super Saiyan Vegeta 4 and I was infuriated by the fact that it was only achieved by preordering the game, there are no more transformations, the artificial intelligence of the allies is stupid, the difficulty is strange and what is hated the most in this game is the luck factor. Did it seriously occur to you to say that the dragon balls, a team or a soul would only come out by luck? Those are bulls#@$ Every player knows that the luck factor is the most hated thing in the game if it's not a party game and it occurs to them to implement it here.

Still they should update it to improve it.

Decent game. For most players, being able to customize your own character is great but if you are like me, I could care less about that. To me, the whole point of a DBZ game is to play with your favorite/s DBZ fighters. Future Trunks can be annoying at times which sucks because in the anime, Future Trunks is great. Nice concept though and worth a playthrough.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is a game for the fans. They're the ones who will appreciate seeing the well-known story arcs through different perspectives and being able to play them out in unconventional ways.

People unfamiliar with games themed around Dragon Ball Z will not find much here to latch onto, but fans of the Dragon Ball Z franchise will not know what to expect from a twist and turned filled time travel story that will rearrange all of their favorite characters until those fans can put them back in order again.
