    A superb game with a great cast of characters, Dragon Age Inquisition offers a fascinating world to explore with deep lore. The game offers a great deal of content to explore, some of which can be almost overwhelming if you try to do it all, but that's what subsequent play throughs are for!

    Dragon Age: Inquisition has made up for a lot of the missteps that were taken in Dragon Age II but still doesn't quite live up to Origins.

    The "hack 'n' slash" combat of Dragon Age II has been refined to put more emphasis on using your skills which I like. I still prefer the combat system of Origins were you needed to load attacks into a queue (the same as kotor) which put a great    Dragon Age: Inquisition has made up for a lot of the missteps that were taken in Dragon Age II but still doesn't quite live up to Origins.

    The "hack 'n' slash" combat of Dragon Age II has been refined to put more emphasis on using your skills which I like. I still prefer the combat system of Origins were you needed to load attacks into a queue (the same as kotor) which put a great emphasis on chaining your skills together in the correct order, and when you did the results were often very satisfying. Some people consider Origins combat too slow and tedious which is fine, people are entitled to their opinions and honestly they're correct in saying it's slow and tedious, still prefer it though. Inquisitions combat system is a worthwhile compromise between Origins and DA2.

    The story is the most epic in scope in the Dragon Age series so far. You're leading a fight against almost everything in the DA universe. Your enemies include mages, templars, demons, darkspawn, assassins, the carta, dragons, a rebel army, the undead, various monsters, a would-be archdemon, a would-be god, poltical figures, and even grey wardens.
    The story and writing are great, living up to the expectations set by Origins for the most part. The side quests aren't as memorable as the ones in Origins but the main quest and companion quests are on par.
    The amount of side quests in this game is daunting, coupling that with the fact that the quests are not very memorable can make trying to 100% this game a chore but they do move you around the various locales promoting discovery and collecting lore.

    Graphically this game is nothing special. Slightly above average in my opinion.

    Bugs are present on the xbox one version. Frequent audio delays which occur mostly within the first few seconds of loading into an area, frequent texture pop-in, freezing happens occasionally but lasts only a second or two, bugged dialogues which require you to reload to get the dialogues working properly but this only happened to me once.

    A few critiques I have:
    Some of the war table operations take too long. Sometimes I would wait to advance the story so that I could clear out every war table operation on the off chance that the operations have some contextual effect on the main story missions. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has done this and it needlessly inflates playtime. Also it sucks when after completing a long operation you're rewarded with junk.

    When I have a party with a warrior, rouge, and mage, and I go up to an item requiring action from a mage (like activating a veil fire torch) while I'm playing as a warrior it would be nice if the a.i. mage in my party executed that action instead of me having to switch to them to do it. A minor gripe but having to switch characters to perform class specific environment actions needlessly increases game time without adding anything.

    The shared health potion thing sucks. You can only carry a limited amount and because of this the result is frequent backtracking to inquisition camps to resupply your health potions. I understand it makes hard fights harder by having to manage your potion consumption correctly but the ultimate result is having to go back to a camp to resupply afterwards. Again needlessly increasing game time without adding anything.

    The game is huge, the characters are so well written that they feel real, the crafting is well done and though I'm not a fan of the action, also the fighting system is a thumbup.
    I'd give it a 9 if I didn't see so many crappy 'reviews' giving it a 0 because !homosexuality!

    Being a rogue assassin is one of the main abilities that a rouge could be. However, the way of assassin quest that is required to be done to get that specialization is bugged. After investing 75 hours into the game and trying every trick that people wrote about I was still unsuccessful, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE GAME. Unless of course you do not want your special ability tree thatBeing a rogue assassin is one of the main abilities that a rouge could be.     I must say that I am extremely disappointed in this game. If you are a fan of previous dragon age or Bioware games prepare for an entirely different game. This feels more like a bad version of Skyrim or the Witcher and resembles nothing from Origins or Dragon Age 2.     This game fails to draw you in the story. It is filled with meaningless quests of collecting and capturing things. Nothing has purpose, nor does the dialogue. It is very simple and bland, and your companions don't even seem interesting.

    The fighting is bad. It is very hack and slash with very little tactics compared to Origins and DA2. Some of the graphics look nice, but the characters look worse in my opinion. It just looks awful.

    Many things have been copied from the Witcher. The texture of the scenery and people, even the fonts are the same. Also the currency which is usually sovereign, silver, and copper in the previous two games is gone. Now its just "gold".

    This game appears that it doesn't even any of the original designers of the original dragon age. It is a regurgitation of all the successful third person RPGS but utterly fails in originality. Basically they tried to make a copy of Skyrim and Witcher and called in Dragon Age. EA has forever ruined Bioware. I am not even difficult to please, as I still really enjoyed Dragon Age despite its issues.

    I have never felt so cheated. Shame on you Bioware. This game is a simple Skyrim plagiarism. What happened to the witty sense of humour, interesting characters, engaging story and simple navigation? I never felt so bored and disappointed. Before I felt like I was a main character in a movie-game. The Inquisition is simply mediocre. Bioware you just have lost a loyal fan and customer and II have never felt so cheated. Shame on you Bioware. This game is a simple Skyrim plagiarism. What happened to the witty sense of humour, interesting characters, engaging story and simple navigation?     I obviously have not played the entire game, like every other review. I haven't even played multiplayer so this review is far from accurate. However, this game is amazing.

    -Graphics can be a bit hit or miss (but the game is huge so this is to be expected)
    -Can't choose stats on level up
    -Skill tree's seem limited

    Bioware is back, and I hope they never leave again. So far I give this a 9/10 but am giving it a 10 to make up for some of the 0's which are completely unfair.    … Expand

    Nothing like DAo or DA2 and that's not a good thing. This is not an RPG, its a hack em up game. All that made Dragon Age fun is gone. Now I have to wait for Mass Effects and hope however the designers that ruined Dragon Age Inquisition don't get there hands on it! Very sad to see something that was so much fun ruined because people don't take a hint...If it is not broken, DON"T FIX IT!

    Me: Casual gamer, liked DA:O and DA2 for different reasons (although O is better duh).     The story is Dull and adds nothing new to the RPG genre.There's a big blast that creates a "Breach" between the world of Thedas and the Veil which opens up a bunch of mini portals called "Rifts" around "Thedas" and lucky for the inhabitants of this land you happened to get caught in the blast that created it and received a mark on your hand that let's you close these "Rifts". Wow! amazing story alert,amazing story alert, who wants to hear an amazing story? XD

    --This open world is as open as the maps on Fable 3 and feel like a repetitive cut/paste job with Super Mario 3 themes like desert,snow etc. There's not a lot to do or see It feels more like a B game that should have been left on PC.
    --the graphics look like last-gen with a bit more polish. Not as good as next-gen titles that launched around the same time.
    --It's hard to relate to characters that act so pompous. Gone are the interesting Under Dogs from DA:O and in are these new 1%-er protagonists who are more worried about their own petty problems then they are about the end of the world.(I'm revising this review a year after writing it and can't remember any of their names)
    --You'll spend a lot of your time doing annoying one-liner fetch quests to unlock new regions to be able to progress through the very short and uninteresting main quest. I spent 20 hours doing those boring forced side quest and only got 12+hours of main quests.It's the first time an RPG forced me into hours of fetch quests. One play through is all I can do on this. This game is an MMO RPG in disguise being sold as a AAA Single Player game.
    --Terrible Combat, Hold down the RT and spam XYB till you run out of stamina rinse and repeat. I liked the semi-turn based Combat of older Bioware Games, Holding down RT and Spamming X,Y,B, gets boring fast.
    --More Glitches then I could shake a stick at, my game crashed a handful of times especially during certain cut-scenes and I noticed a Frame-Rate drop every time I pressed the run button. There are definitely performance issues with this game but it's still "playable."
    --Repetitive Multi-Player with micro-transactions(Proof that this really is a cheap MMO in diguise).
    --Character progression and overall learning curve is definitely geared towards casual gamers. They either think were too dumb or too lazy to actually level up our own characters to keep pace with the game and to play the Combat portions without some sorta autopilot(There's more hand holding here then in the last one).
    --I could go on forever about the terrible combat.graphics,story,acting etc.

    -Positives

    -Dragon fight's were fun. Nothing like Dragon's Dogma or anything but still fun.
    -soundtrack was okay
    -War Room was a good feature but becomes repetitive and annoying fast.

    --There are a few thing's that this game does get right and a few thing's that it does really well but unfortunately it's not enough when compared to everything else. The story is short but not sweet and it's locked behind hours of useless repetitive fetch quests. I don't know why they thought this was a good idea cause it's not.The combat is you holding down the RT, spamming XYB and that's it(Even Casual gamers should feel embarrassed by this level of hand holding). Although there a variety of maps in the mix but they're not filled with much and are full of invisible walls and obstacles that are there to set you up for a bit of dialogue and forgettable combat encounters.This game is not worth the full price of admission and is another let down from one of my favorite game developers ever.    … Expand

    This is hands down the best game I have ever played. I absolutely loved it. Voice acting was once again fantastic, story was great and the world was just beautiful. While there are some glitches, I've now played this game through on the Xbox One and the 360 and they were not game breaking (for me anyway).

I thought it was a little weird at first that you had to keep holding down the attack button once attacking an enemy, but honestly this just became second nature once you got a bit into the game.

    *The story and romances in this one are really well written. I'm glad they've dropped the underwear in the shower deal, seeing as this game is rated M anyway.

    *There is tons to explore. I whipped through this game on the One and now that I'm replaying it on the 360 I'm doing different story options and exploring some areas more in depth and didn't realize how much I had missed in my first playthrough.

    *I actually like the side quests. I know some of them are just fetch quests, but they make sense. Plus if you return to areas later, the people you did quests for will thank you and change their dialogue and whatnot.

    For the people who are whining and complaining and comparing this game to Skyrim I just don't get it. I mean I like the Elder Scrolls games and all, but there is just hardly any story there. I never give a crap about any of the people in that world. It's a fun dungeon crawler with a bit of story mixed in as filler. And I love it. But, Dragon Age is just much more than that. They have made this game more open world. The areas are huge and there's ton of stuff to do and find. The combat was fun and much improved over Dragon Age 2. There were no enemy waves falling from the sky. It was more reminiscent of Dragon Age Origins. It's a fantastic game and if you stick your nose up to it, it's your loss. This game rocks!    … Expand

I actually quite liked it but this blows it clean out of the water. I have played about 20-25 hours of the game so far - and even though it's not perfect - it is good enough that once I sit down to play it in the evening I don't stop until I absolutely HAVE to go to bed. So at the very least, it's addicting. The story is entertaining enough so far - it's not the most riveting story (so far) but it's certainly not awful like Destiny - alsoDAI - 8.5 / 10.     The combat can either be played in RPG style where you have an overview of the battlefield and can order your party members around or you can just rush in and attack - I have typically chosen the latter just to keep things moving. I am playing on normal skill level and it's usually pretty easy. However, every once in awhile you end up in a battle where you realize some tactics are necessary and have to go in a little more strategic. Graphics are fine, sound / music is good, characters are pretty fun so far (I'm haven't gotten to much personalized character interactions yet - but the same has a focus on that), controls are easy to adapt to, generally I like most aspects of the game - and with the enormous world the game offers I expect a lot more to come. Yes there are some repetitive trivial missions and filler, but they haven't bothered me too much.
    I haven't gotten far enough into the game to make a definitive critique - but certainly based on what I've done so far it's worth playing, legitimately fun/addicting, and with the currently minimal selection of XB1 games available it wasn't a hard choice to make. Don't pay attention to anyone who gave this game a ZERO - that's just ridiculous. It's not a ten, but I like it.    … Expand

    I can see why fans of previous games in the series are a little upset by this entry since it plays more like Diablo 3 but with an over the shoulder camera. The RPG elements are great and feel more like something closer to Skyrim than anything else. The areas are still quite huge and can take up to half an hour to trek from one side to the other on foot. The campaign is very very long, in fact, you don't even see the opening title/credits until you are close to 2 hours into the game. The exploration of the land is satisfying but feels more like something out of Fable than anything else, just in the sense that you never go into any large structures that require any paused loading, but more you are spending most of the time in very open outdoor areas with the occasional entering of a small structure to either pick up a mission or buy goods. The graphics is this game is where I have my only real issue. Playing the the Xbox One the graphics don't resemble those of a next gen game, but the massive world does. I've had many times during an in-game cinematic where objects, landscape or people will just suddenly appear or pop into close frame. This isn't a huge drawback because it seems to only happen during cinematic; I haven't run into any delayed draw distances or anything while in live game play. In short, this is a satisfying game of the genre that will have you playing for a long long time and a combat system that can be set up for anyone's play style. The only thing that would get this game a higher rating would be the correction of graphical glitches and just the overall graphics themselves. I understand the shine of the game took a hit on account to make it as massive as it is, but it really does look like something you'd expect from previous generations. (In fact, I would assume there is no difference in graphics between previous and current gen consoles)… Expand

    Loved the single player game + 9 Points however micro transactions - 8 points = 1 point. Any game with reliance on micro transactions loses heavy points. I'm fed up with this rubbish.

    I loved the first two games, but I have to say I just found this one dull. Some will be mad I even wrote a review and rated it, as I only got about 8 hours in, but I tried again and again to get into it and it was just too dull. The main plot is uninteresting.     Best action/rpg I've ever played. Even better than skyrim. I just finished after putting over 100 hours in and can't wait to create another character and play all over again.

    The absolute perfect game in every way, story music visual gameplay, epicness. just breathtaking and memorable. The kind of game you can play for years and years, and that will leave you with fond memories. Thank the stars , finally a giant has arrived!

    The combat sections aren't challenging, just long and boring.
    There isn't much strategy: half the enemies in the game warp behind or push through every formation you set.
    Obviously, the A button is used both for jumping and to activate things. Because it takes real developers to avoid such a basic mistake and bioware doesn't have them. This is more annoying than it seems, don't laugh!
    The story is mediocre too, but you are going to notice that only if you limit yourself to the main quest, otherwise, you forget it along the way: there is so much useless stuff outside of it (collectibles, fetch quests and hunt quests that repeat themselves) that you lose the thread.
    There are many bugs, but IIRC the ones that deny you questlines have been fixed.
    The only good thing is graphic, but the game isn't (and couldn't) be pretty enough to be interesting.

    Just finished it. Took me 107 hours. The story, characters and combat were phenomenal. The decision-making was so fun. The variety of quests awesome. But major letdowns: too many fetch quests (more than any other game I've played). The levels were not intuitive or easy to navigate (not enough fast travel points, confusing map imagery). The ending was anti-climatic (I felt like myJust finished it. Took me 107 hours. The story, characters and combat were phenomenal. The decision-making was so fun. The variety of quests awesome. But major letdowns: too many fetch quests (more than any other game I've played). The levels were not intuitive or easy to navigate (not enough fast travel points, confusing map imagery). The ending was anti-climatic (I felt like my decisions did not come into play enough, like in Mass Effect 3). Would I replay it? If it weren't for all the fetch quests, I absolutely would.     With so little competing titles on XBO it's no wonder this stands out.
    The graphics are probably 'ordinary', but good for DA games.
    The story is really good, characters excellent.
    The world is big and fairly rich in content and diversity.
    I wonder how it will look when there's titles of the same genre and production value on XBO?
    You don't need to be a DA fan or have played the others.

    Amazing game, the graphics are good with only a few hiccups. The character skill variety is enough to warrant an extra play through or two. Story missions are engaging with plenty of side missions. A few too many collectables for my taste but this doesn't detract from the game. Haven't played multiplayer, not really my thing. Definitely worth your time and money if your a RPG fan.

    Bioware rightfully made the best fantasy game only beat by Skyrim. The real draw of this game is Character customization, choices, and discovery. I always love creating a female character and this game doesn't disappoint in that respect unlike Fallout 4 for example. Inquisition still has the best dialogue system and the most decisions out of modern games. So the only competition in that respect is between well, previous Bioware titles and Telltale Games. However, most choices don't have a big enough impact. No matter who you choose, Templars or Mages, you'll still have to defend Haven from the forgettable villain. I understand that part is critical to the story but Bioware has given much more weight to choices in the Mass Effect series
    . But Skyhold really is a big improvement over the Normandy. The world is plenty big and the highlights visually are the houses in the Emerald Graves, the Eleven temple in the end, and the sand dunes of the Western Approach(beat Elder Scrolls to the punch). Due to the leveling and weapon damage system, enemies had to have large health bars to make the former mechanics work. There is no point in getting a better weapon if the Red Templars succumb to one or two hits. This makes encounters long and less fun. Dragons take so long to kill.
    Only at the end does the story get intriguing. This is mostly thanks to Morigan(who I kept thinking was the villain due to the reveal trailer) and the Elvin lore.Since that I was eager to make progress in the game, I skipped most of the cutscenes, dialogue, and books;something I usually don't do.It ended up cutting my playthrough in half(about 50 hours instead of the average 100+)
    In a world where Gods and magic exist, religion stills gets thing wrong. Something I only realized towards the end. Not that they were morally wrong(the chantry is clearly the old christian church and a lot of it draws inspiration from the real world) but that it's not certain who these gods were as Mythal turns out not to be an Elvin god but Morigan's Immortal human mother. And there isn't proof of the maker or the Old Gods existence. The only interesting part of Coryriphius (spelled wrong) was when he mentions that the thrones in the heavens were empty. That mystery definitely will be explained in future games.
    The end seems to point towards a Grey Warden civil war being a plot point for DAV. It really sucks that EA most likely took the real ending and released it as the Trespasser DLC only for current-gen. That will probably stop me from playing it as I played it on the 360 and will likely get a PS4.
    So the near future for Bioware is Andromeda. Something that is taking far too long to make. Is it going through development hell? Almost. Bioware is trying to make a far more ambitious game than Mass Effect 3. But here's the problem. This is in terms of content, not substance. Clearly the scale of this game is whats being built upon. And in my opinion thats a bad thing. Inquisition would have been significantly better in terms of story, pacing, and level design if Bioware didn't try to compete with the sheer size of Skyrim. Either way, I'm almost certain that Andromeda will be a great game:)    … Expand

    Very solid attempt from bioware at making up for the shambles that was the previous dragon age game. Found few slightly annoying things such as limited romance options and certain enemies being much harder in the beginning of the game, apart from that the franchise seems to be going in the right direction again.     I just finished a thorough run in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and I was very satisfied. To me, it was more than worth the retail price in terms of time spent, game mechanics, and my satisfaction with the story. Any bugs I encountered were few and far between. Combat (I mage'd it) was satisfying. Companions were diverse and interesting. Many of the maps are exceptionally beautiful, and aI just finished a thorough run in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and I was very satisfied.     While I enjoyed almost everything about the game, it is the story that, to me, made this game shine. I really think they outdid themselves with worldbuilding. I'd played DA: Origins, the first of the series, and "The Keep" website went a long way to restoring my memories, both of the choices I'd made and the place I was returning to. There are stories wherever you look - even a loot item can carry a tale as interesting as the mission you find it on. You could rush through the game, or you can pause and appreciate the varied codex entries you accumulate just by walking around. What results is a world that is as fully fleshed as you wish to explore.

    I would usually give any good game a 9/10, because I feel there's always room for improvement, I loved it enough to spread a thick layer of nutella over any grievance I had during gameplay. I don't intend to replay it right away because it is just. so. huge. - but I realized I would have been game for another 100 hours of continued inquisiting after the credits rolled.     This game is pretty great. It's a nitty gritty RPG for true RPGers. If you're not a fan of the RPG style game, don't even bother. It's massive, it's epic, and it will consume all your free time if you let it. Very fun, Very engaging, gets a little repetitive (as do all rpgs... i mean there's only so many different types of quests you can do: kill this, retrieve that, go here, find that etc...)

I have an overwhelming amount of experience playing games for over 27 years so I feel qualified to express my opinion of the game. Despite what a lot of folks are saying and despite the storyline being a bit disjunct and choppy, the game is simply outstanding. Character mods, weapon and material development, RPG style and active combat fight mixtures, team management and skill usage, exploration, conversational user input, influentially based team advancement, the multiplayer levels......the list goes on and on. Very well designed, programmed and developed game. I keeping telling myself, "I'm going to end the game a this point...", and then I never do. It's just and all around really good game...not perfect but very good.… Expand

    I played this game both on XBOX One and PC (my friends machine) and I partially agreed on people writing negative reviews on PC which are about clunky controls / camera angle etc.. But my friend and I get used to on controls pretty fast. It just needs some more practice. I think some people are ready from start to give a negative feedback about a great RPG game which everyone talks about. Which is a kind of attention addiction of being a hater. On Xbox One controls are very easy and smooth. You can easily focus on combat/tactics/environment instead of interface. Although there are some bugs right now on XBOX multiplayer, the developer team seems to be informed about the issues and working hard to update the game on all platforms, which I respect very much.

    In addition, I didn't see much games which you can update/review/modify all your progress and create a new storyline/ world state which DragonAgeKeep.com website is offering in beta currently. This feature is surely innovative and gives old DragonAge fans opportunity to create a customized world state and enjoy game as they like and want it to be.

    One last word about unclear maps etc. This is not a SciFi game which you can have extremely detailed maps that are obtained using Satellite photos. Have you ever see a coastal map drawn by Piri Reis which are believed to be the most detailed maps of the old times... I think map detail is more than enough. On a real RPG game (I'm talking about FRP games which were played using dices and character sheets and without using a computer),on a real RPG you can not even put a landmark on the map and walk that way without getting lost. (Which is the fun part :) ) For me, more realism means more challenge and more challenge means more fun!

    (Just for info, I played DAo but not DA2. I think Inquisition is better than DAo which I believe DAo was more looking like Oblivion to me)    … Expand

Let downs range from an invisible trader (Skyhold keep) to dysfunctional alignment of resources versus crafting (particularly with requisitions). While Origins was a good filler whilst waiting for the latest Elder Scrolls to hit the shelves DA2 and Inquisition have marked a steady decline of the Dragon age series. The game is incomplete as far as a AAA experience is concerned and should be priced accordingly... mind you not as bad as the Fable decline. Skyrim, Witcher, Fallout 3 and a few others have set the standard for RPG's Dragon Age has some work to do to catch up. By the end I really did not care whether **** thing bag (thanks Sera) lived or died, got my funk on with bull and I decided to chop off Blackwells head just for a bit of excitement.… Expand

    Dragon Age: Inquisition represents a glorious return to form for the series, with its huge world to explore, great cast of characters, and immensely satisfying combat and character progression. Despite its flaws, this is easily a contender for RPG of the year, and a must-have for most any gamer.
