Multiplay is a lot of fun also. Soul Harvest is my favorite. The customization is crazy lots of armor pieces to win and customize with color, pieces, patterns same for the weapons too. It keeps you interested in he one more game approach in hopes to get that cool piece of armor and such.

Snap map is a breeze but also provides deep tools for you to use but the one thing that is UNACCEPTABLE to me is no bots to check multiplay maps to test out new modes you might event. Even COD has bots in the game. This makes a game that is a 9 drop down to a 7 due to the fact of leaving out an a very important tool in customizing. I do think it was taken out due to a season pass that you have to buy to get everything. Maybe they are too scared the user base will out make their creations. Besides like other games that seperate the user base with pay for map packs this game will be hot for a few months but Im pretty sure by the release of the last pack most interest will be lost as the gamers have moved on to other experiances.

My original guess was that it was going to pander to console players by making it slower ( I thought this after I saw the scroll wheel that slowed down game play.) It has been a long while since I have seen a shooter with intelligent map design, design which rewards players for playing the game at a faster pace, in fact I rarely found myself stopping in between combat, if at all. There is secrets galore in this game to. Not only that but the game itself is absolutely beautiful. From the large bosses to the small imps for pistol fodder every part of the game does not lack in design, This game reinvigorated my faith in ID. The online has obviously improved since the beta (Its great, i didn't get the chance to play the beta but I heard complaints) With a larger selections of weapons. In fact I see so many modding possibilities for the multiplayer on PC. After playing leagues and leagues of modern shooters this is the most refreshing multiplayer I have played in a while and will suck in hours and hours of my time I haven't really played around with snap map yet, but Ill be looking forward to it!. Anyway this reinvigorated the franchise and will forever be known as a classic, Amazing job id, i look forward for more Expand

Just finished the game on Ultra-violence. Game took me roughly 8 hrs. It was my first playthrough. I'll go over a couple points.

tl;dr - The game is solid, but has several issues. If you're a fan of Quake, DOOM, Serious Sam, Bullet Storm, etc. play the game. Keep in mind that this game is trying to recreate 25 year old gameplay. Nothing incredible. (6.5-7.5 out of 10) PROS: - Nice

    PROS:
    - Nice callback to the original DOOM. (armor, health, keys, style)
    - Graphics are really nice, each area created a unique environment.
    - Fast game play. Combat is great!! Sets the mood for really fun, and brutal enemy encounters.
    - Gore galore. Blood everywhere!
    - Music is pretty good too.

    NEUTRAL:
    - Not a horror game. I was a little let down by this, but I can understand the decision.
    - Shorter game. (8-10 hrs)
    - Really heavy focus on executions. (glory kills)
    - The achievements are BAD. Not that important if you're not an achievement hunter. As an example for a bad achievement, you only get a 10gs cheevo for beating the first level on the hardest difficulty. That's it. No other achievement is awarded for completing the campaign, or other subsequent levels on Ultra-Nightmare. Huh?

    CONS:
    - Oh my God, the story is bad. So many holes in the story, especially near the end. Of course you can collect the in-game codex to get deeper with the story. But when I finished the game with over 80% of the codex collected, I still could poke holes at the story.

    - Buggy. I can't tell you how many times I've fallen through the map, or an enemy got stuck on some texture pop, or some other random BS happened during my playthrough. I've gotten stuck to the point where I would have to reload checkpoints.

    - The bosses. Every boss fight in this game was atrocious. I hate them. The game barely works during these sections, and I honestly feel that they were the least fun sections of the game.

    - VERY repetitive. The only down time you get is the loading screens, and in-between rooms. It is essentially a mindless "go here, clear room, get key, urg, open door, repeat" type of game.

    - Step down from 'Wolfenstein: The New Order'? It feels like DOOM is a downgraded version of Wolfenstein. It really does.

    Summary: A solid game
DOOM was a fun game. As a fan of the series, I enjoyed plowing through hordes of demons with a metal track playing in the background. The game is bloody, fast-paced, and brutal, which are all good things in my book. The easter eggs are awesome, the weapons are fun to use (super shotgun FTW), and killing the big baddies with executions is satisfying as hell.

At the end of the day, however, that's all DOOM is; a run-and-gun shooter. The formula is not exactly new, and while it does pay homage to the originals, big fans of DOOM 3's survival horror style probably won't appreciate this installment as much. The game is very repetitive, and can grow dull after a few hours of play. The story isn't that great either. I know it's DOOM and all, but, after playing Wolfenstein, I expected a little more.

I feel that DOOM honestly just didn't live up to the hype generated from the fans, the years of it's absence, and Wolfenstein's beta bonus. It is a good game, but there a collection of small things that keep it from being perfect. I recommend that any fans of the series try it out. Just don't be expected to be blown off your feet or anything.

I don't understand the hype around this game, it's a solid shooter for sure but it didn't really excel in any area. The main downside of the game is that it was just a group of different encounters with very little inbetween. Once you've glory killed the demons a couple of times it starts to get old for a core mechanic.

Visually its amazing. The gameplay on the campaign is pretty fun and challenging due to the lack of ammo when you get into hordes of monsters to slay.

Multiplayer is pretty average. It's fun for a little bit, but it doesnt give you that feeling where you want to play it over and over again. I can happily play it for an hour, then turn it off and put it away for a week.

This game has to be one of the best FPS game that i have played in a long time with all the guns you can get and modify. there is some good jump scares in the game and as you progress through the stages it gets harder. This is a game i am happy i purchased and would recommend people buying this game and giving it a try.

First, still after 2 years and 62GB of updates, there is a bug that corrupts some saves. When it happens, enemies stop spawning correctly and passages remain blocked. If it happens to you in the 6th mission (like it did to me) you're of luck: there is no way to restart the current mission from the beginning. Unless you really love the game and start from scratch, you have to restart the game. So take the rest of the review with a grain of salt, as I've only played (pretty thoroughly) the first 5.5 missions.
Let's switch to something positive: the combat. The enemies attack you from all sides, each one with the different types of attacks. Movement is crazily fast and fluid (60fps). Prioritising and being quick on your feet is crucial: trying to bring an important guy to low life and go for a close up gore kill is a risky tactic, rewarding you with a rain of health packs. Most weapons are awesome, with interesting primary and secondary fire modes. The only distraction is weapon switching on consoles: you switch from let's say the shotgun to the rocket launcher, only to find that it's low on ammo. You hold Y, time slows down, you switch to let's say the gauss cannon. You fire a couple of crucial long shots, then you press Y for a quick switch back to shotgun, only to be found again to your rocket launcher.
And that's just one of the areas where Doom prioritises old-school for old-school's sake, not caring about innovations since Halo. In most console shooters inventory is in front of your eyes (dropped weapons of the enemies), you don't need to stop time to pick it or manage its upgrades - and that allows it being played co-op. Even the most hardcore PC fan who loves to remember that x weapon is on button 7 will accept that being to play Doom in co-op would have been AWESOME.
At least its combat... Because a big part of 2016's DOOM is about exploration. We're not talking just about optional exploration to find admittedly cool collectables or original-Doom levels. In order to fully upgrade your weapons and armour to the max you have to pass lots of time between battles navigating the map, and jumping around. And even though there's not much to see (Doom is an endless exchange of grey, red and brown), there is a lot of pleasure in finding those things. But reaching them is not fun. The first person perspective, floaty movement and (in cases of hidden areas) confused visual language on what is interactable or can be reached would have been simply annoying if they weren't combined with an abysmal checkpointing system. You risked a jump to reach something marked on your map and you fell (because the game expected you to go there another way)? Good luck, you're back before your previous battle. And if this battle is the one where you have to use your double-jump to hunt around imps who push you to the abyss, you might be justifiably infuriated (if you enjoy shooting with platforming, try Titanfall 2's campaign instead).
Until this moment I didn't mention any story. It's because Doom proudly makes fun of its "scientists opened a door to hell, kill and destroy everything you meet" plot.
There's also a multiplayer, but I arrived to the game so late that it's dead - most people say it wasn't particularly good anyway.
To conclude, Doom appeals to nostalgia with some hits and some misses, but real thing it is adding to the genre (and which I hope other games will copy) is the rewards for risking to get close and personal with enemies.

My interest in playing FPS that has no additional tactics is at its end I think. Doom is great for what it is,just not my type of game.

    Pros:
    - The visuals and shooting were great
    - Tried some interesting techniques with skills and melee finishes

    Cons:
    - I had a headache playing it

Fun for a short while, but the boss fights were very tedious and boring. Admittedly, I am not very good at fps games and I just don't have the patience to learn the boss's tell moves and counters so for you, this game might well rate more highly, but for me it wasn't a super hit.

You run. You kill. You platform. You run. You kill. You Platform.

My biggest gripes with the games are around the exploration system. Shooting and defeating enemies is always a blast, but exploring halts the game to a screeching halt almost every time. Finding stuff doesn't ever feel rewarding, the platforming is the easiest platforming out there, and every location in the game just feels like the same location but a switched-up maze.

It can easily be compared to the Metroid Prime games, where you explore and find stuff to advance, except with more "pew-pew" and "bam-bam". However, Matroid did it better. There were actual biomes; there was a feeling of loneliness and dread, mystery, and wonder. There were moments of build-up and challenge; there were puzzles and challenges that made the game more than just shooting.

    This game just shoots.

That's not necessarily a flaw for the game. That's what it went for, but more variety would've definitely benefited the game, along with biomes or environments that could've added more of a dynamic for this game.

Overall, it's mid. Overrated and fun at points, but even pew-pewing got tiring.

In the upcoming sequels (because let's face it, we know that they're already in development), please bring back a strong element of horror. I believe Guillermo Del Toro would be a fantastic asset for horror consultation. If you decide to go that route, I'd love to see the path this takes.
