I have nothing but praise for Codemasters’ return to the muddy motorsport of rally.

Whilst DiRT Rally doesn’t have the WRC seal of approval it has the hearts of its die-hard fans.

There’s no doubt about it, DiRT Rally is the finest rally game currently available on Xbox One.

For our money, this is easily the best rally game ever released. Not only that, it's transcended the scope of that admittedly small genre and is surprisingly close to the top of the general racing game category, too.

Without question the best rally sim ever made. Reality without the whiplash.

Dirt Rally is a true return to form for Codemasters' Dirt franchise and may be the company's best title to date.

The DiRT game that rally fans have been craving, DiRT Rally is a triumphant return to form that every self-respecting video game racing aficionado needs to own. Don't be put off by the steep learning curve, DiRT Rally is worth getting to grips with; it's super rewarding and ultimately a fantastic rally title.

The best proper rally sim we've had since Richard Burns Rally over a decade ago and a well timed return to form for Codemasters and the DiRT series.

A great rally racer, true to the roots of Codemasters' series with a no frills approach to the core of the rally experience and brilliant visuals. Challenging and satisfying, it a definite must buy for any rally lover.

One nice conversion of a driving game as demanding that only experts on the genre will fully enjoy it. We miss a couple of new features on the console versions, but it's still a great racing game.

It’s the best rally racer on modern consoles, and a fine debut for this DiRT sub-series.

DiRT Rally is a tour de force for rally games, and a return to form for Codemasters. It is brutal, unforgiving, and most of all extremely rewarding for those that enjoy true rally games. It is not for everyone, and its simulation aspects will turn off a ton of gamers, but those willing to stick with it will find one of the most finely-crafted racing games of the generation.

In conclusion, if you are a casual racer who just wants to have fun and enjoy doing races without too much frustration, Dirt Rally is not for you. It is daunting for even hardcore racers. However, if you are seeking a real rally simulation experience and have strong willpower to overcome all the challenges that this game throws at you, it’s the best game on the market compared to titles like Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo and WRC 5.

It looks great, it's smooth and packed with real-world rally cars to get your motor running. It would benefit from a wider variety of locations, particularly in Hillclimb and Rallycross, but what you do get is very much worth playing.

DiRT Rally is an unforgiving, temperamental beast at times. But it’s also the very best game in a genre that has been brought back to its purist roots with style and love.

If you've got the time and patience to overcome its seemingly impenetrable exterior, then Dirt Rally is a thrilling racing game that's best in its class. This is a game where satisfaction can be had with a podium finish and one where you'll feel a true sense of pride and joy for every hard-earned victory... as rare as they may be.

An honest, often brutal celebration of rallying that will exhilarate racing fans but intimidate newcomers.

I thought myself to be good at racing games (forza 6) but in this game I keep crashing, flipping the vehicle and driving off cliffs. Even with all assissts on I am having troubles. I played Dirt, Dirt 2 and other codemasters titles. Still I welcome the challenge. And now, I'm much better at this game. I'm using a controller not a wheel but I admit it will be more enjoyable if u play it with a wheel Full Review »

I'm really surprised there are not more user reviews for this game. If you are on the fence about getting Dirt Rally you should get it. I dontI'm really surprised there are not more user reviews for this game. If you are on the fence about getting Dirt Rally you should get it. I dont believe there is a better rally game/sim available. Even if you have not played a rally game before and like realistic racing sims, you will like this one. Some of the really good points for this game are the graphics, realism and car setup. Unlike a lot of racing games in the past this one really makes a difference when you tweak the setup. One complaint I have about the game so far is not having more options for race types like in previous Dirt titles but that is it. Full Review »

You can'tIf you are a pad player, stay as far away from this as you can. When playing with a pad, the cars will begin to act like clown cars. You can't drive straight, you can't keep the car in slide and overall feeling is like driving on the moon. Funny how people are calling this a simulator. The physics are so bad the avgn should do an episode from this. There is absolutely no consistency in the handling. Never have I ever seen sides of the road so deadly as here. Even the smallest objects will send your car flying. If you drive just an inch off the road, your car will immediately solve the problem of interstellar travel and find itself on Mars.

But when you plug in a racing wheel and pedals every handling issue vanishes like a fart in the wind. I found myself driving almost two times faster than I did with a pad. But physics are still there an they suck ass.

The car roster is pathetic, music sucks and track list is too small. Sensation of speed doesn't translate very well. It's difficult to know when to brake, when it seems like you are doing 70mph but when you look at the speedometer you are actually doing 100mph. Co driver notes are always too early or too late, so you have to memorize every track. Hardly rally anymore, is it?

Looks like we are still waiting for the perfect "next gen" rally game. This isn't it.
