My rating reflects the lies, constant neglect and customer appreciation that Bungie has towards it's players and fans. The game gets boring as soon as you beat the game which can be done in 8 hours or less. Also the story is awful. I would give a higher rating for graphics, music and game play. Though that would telling Bungie they did a good thing.

Played for 3 days to get to level 20 and let me put it this way.
I played borderlands 2 about a year ago and can remember a few of the characters like jack and claptrap but played destiny in the weekend and can't recall a name of anyone or what the story about you is about
Fun since I had 3 other players to link up with but very empty stages no real reason to explore just grinding

Found a successful 6 person team strategy or a way to beat that super-tough boss by spamming grenades until you finally knock it off the level only to find you didn't earn that precious raid armor you've been tirelessly playing for? Don't worry, Bungie promises to patch that too, only to make the game more difficult.. Finally obtained that Exotic weapon after 50-75 raid runs? You guessed it, Bungie will "NERF" that weapon because it was "too powerful". I loved this game until I completed the "story" mode (which doesn't feel complete in the least) and Bungie released the 1st patch. I'm at the "like" stage after 2 patches... I'm sure the next patch will push me to the "F-THIS GAME" stage. Thankfully, this game has a fairly high trade-in value. It's not open world - the different elements of the game world are disconnected and feel like separate arenas. Its not an RPG - every class and player looks and plays identically. This game is aggravating due to the fact that some exotic bounties REQUIRE people to play crucible. I don’t think it is fair to make people have to do something they don’t want to do. Many people including myself don’t want to play crucible at all. There should be a choice of PvP only and PvE only routes for exotic bounties. Of course they didn’t think to implement this; I bet most of the developers received their degrees from Full Scam University. That is why we buyers were scammed. Expand

Destiny is a disappointment. I had hoped for a game that had a fantastic story and campaign as well as advanced AI for the campaign combatants. I found it quite uninteresting and the story poorly explained. The whole game lacked energy.

I feel like I have wasted my money. The game gets better after level 2o only because you don't really have to play the non-sensical story line anymore. Everything that you want to buy takes forever to earn. I made the mistake of actually liking this game while I played through the storyline...so I bought the extra DLC pack along with it. I feel that was a mistake. I am close to taking it out of my system and never playing it again (or at least until some of the DLC I already paid for is out).

Now the PvP Multiplayer is the worst **** thing I have ever played. The mechanics of it make no sense, and Bungie somehow made it so I want to play Halo instead of it. Shotguns and Melee are the most powerful thing in existence....unless it is your shotgun or melee attack, then you will always lose. Everyone's gun is better than yours no matter what level. The hit locations seem like a random luck to kill someone. If you run in a pack the entire time, you will win...because while you wear down an enemy shield...a teammate will take the kill no matter what.

The bounties they have so you can rank up faster in both the fireteam and the PvP are really just the same thing constantly.

I had this veil over my face where I thought this was fun...but I was right the first time I played it. It is the same thing over and over and over. if I had to really give this an honest score...I would say a 3 out of 10. It just is missing so much.

Then you play it. Credit where credit's due, the gun play is pretty good but the game is aggressively boring with as many short cuts taken as possible.

Destiny is desperate to be an MMO, with a single social hub and market along with several planets, each with one location you'll grind across multiple times through what passes for story. Very little is explained beyond 'darkness is coming and you must shoot the dudes who make up the darkness, we think' unless you feel like reading the glossary, but the game did such a bad job of engaging me I couldn't be bothered. Dinklage seemingly doesn't care either and the fact his character, a little robot called a 'ghost' that somehow resurrected your character thousands of years after he/she/it died but can't help you if you're in a shaded tunnel, gets worked up about potentially finding something brilliant on Earth before dropping the whole plot line and forcing you to go to the next planet without a reason, likely as I wasn't high enough level for the 'explosive conclusion', if that's what's left of Bungie under Activision's control thinks sending in waves of generic enemies is, makes me wonder if they have any idea how stories are supposed to progress

I always felt City of Heroes spoilt me for MMO story telling and general awesomeness, but Destiny is poor by both MMO's current standards and shooter standards as the MMO troupes it has to have wear what's good about Destiny down. The PvP combat could be fine, mind, but I had no urge to try it as the rest of the game just bored me. Do yourselves a favour and either play Wolfenstien: The New Order instead

GRINDING!! is the core concept of the game. This game is good or bad depending on if you like grinding.

    The big question
    Why mmo:
There is none seeing other people in your campaign only means you're missing out because they have more then likely killed everything and you can just walk on by. i have never seen more than 6 people in one area of the game excluding the tower. you get disconnected from the game because of random error messages like rabbit, monkey, cat. Its hard to contact bugie and get a reply. You have to collect stuff to upgrade and obviously you have to compete with other players. I can't think of one advantage being always online gives.

The tower is the most pointless annoying place. you will travel here after most missions to hand in a piece of crap and get more crap which wouldn't bother me so much but the loading screen to get there is about 1-2min. i can go for a piss and get a drink and will still have time to watch me fly the stupid spaceship in. so i can spend 30 seconds running to a place and holding x.

    Story: No spoilers here ;)
There isn't much but if you have played games before you will know how the game ends before the second mission. The campaign will take you to similar or the same location several times and if you don't do the bounties you will also have to repeat mission or play multiplayer.

    Gameplay:
The gameplay is the same as borderlands except not as varied. you have two forms of superpower which you can switch between but have to level up independently. You will find that certain certain set ups are better than any other and changing them would be silly. The balancing between classes is horrible. The titan has a slam attack which puts you in melee range and if you don't kill them they will quite quickly kill you, all the bosses have instant kill melee attacks so you can't use it on them. so you resort to slowly chipping away at his health from a spot where he can't hit you very well and thats that.

    Enemies:
There are two types of enemies ones with arms and legs and ones which float. They all act the same, feel the same just look different. The bosses are just big versions of the smaller ones There isn't a single unique boss which has different levels to him. They just repeat the same attack or movement again. again. agian.

    Multiplayer:
I really don't want to talk about the multiplayer because it is the most unbalanced multiplayer game. When you complete the raid you get the vex mythocast best weapon in the game can out trade anyone in multiplayer easily. The same applies to a few other weapons like the ice breaker, suros regime and the vanquisher 3 i believe . They have nerfed some to bring a little balance but even then the class system is just wrong. oh and your super powers recharge due points and time not kills. secondary weapons are op. getting ammo for the is easily or you can find one which recharge ammo.

    Warlock:
superpower has a self revive, instant kill melee, and infinite grenades and over shield.
    or
an instant kill range area of effect bomb thing.

    Hunter:
the golden gun from 007 with 3 shots or 4.
    or
a melee state which grants an overshield, damage resistance, instant kill melee, homing attacks, instant lock on. on kill health recharge or invisibility or dash.

    Titan:
A smash the floor which goes through walls similar area effect to the range warlock ability.
    or
a bubble shield from halo which can be destroyed by the warlock and hunter powers and everyone in it.
can be useful in certain situations.

obviously only high levels can get the best super powers and weapons but the game will match level 30's with level 6's.

    sound:
some of the worst game sound i have heard from AAA games in a while. Theres probably about 5 songs in the game. all the guns sound similar and they start to grind. you will inevitably turn the sound down.
The voice acting is okay but what they are saying s horrible just a random assortment of cliches.

    Conclusion:
The game is repetitive simple and buggy due to being connected to the internet 24/7. Long loading screens, unbalanced multiplayer which once you have the right set up becomes easy. The worst part is that i haven't even talked about the super floaty homing grenade which can chase you though walls. I wouldn't recommend this game to a friend.

Thanks to bounties and hunting for exotic equipment, the game will keep you entertained through both game modes and it will definitely have you interested in a long time as exotic equipments are very rare and hard to obtain.
The game mechanics and combat of the game gets a 7/10
The level cap which is set at level 20 and requires light equipment after and along with limited weapons and lack of a third subclass can definitely improve the game.
    I would rate the game's graphics a 8.5/10
The only flaw being lack of character customization which somewhat ties into graphics. The graphics of Destiny are beautiful starting from the loading screen and going to boss fights and multiplayer, it is beautiful all the way through.
I would give the story and audio of the game a 6.5/10
Mostly because of the lack of story and the awkward character voices and guns. The background music along with most sounds for the game are fit and quite enjoyable.

TheBungie is, hands down, one of my top 5 favorite developers in the industry. After all, Bungie makes everyone of their games with such care and consideration to every aspect. Halo is also my favorite video game franchise ever. So of course, I immediately jumped on the hype train for Destiny the day it was announced, even though I'm personally not a fan of what it does to certain games. The big, big, BIG question is (quite possibly the biggest question of the year in gaming): Does Destiny live up to the quality of Halo and can it also be the best game Bungie will ever create? To be honest, I absolutely adored Destiny the first week and a half. However, the more you think about the game and get deeper into it, you start to realise how many glaring flaws there are that put nasty dents on the experience. Don't get me wrong, though, there's a lot of damn good stuff here. But it won't last for long. Let's start with the good. Destiny gets the fundamental gameplay or shooting done perfectly. With the ability to double jump or glide and slide, the combat gains a new aspect of versatility, different from your other shooters. The game also has 2 abilities for each class that were cool and creative. I felt the core shooting felt a lot like Halo, which was amazing. Plus, when in combat areas, the game gives you enough room or cover to feel safe, but not too much to make you feel like you're stuck in a metal cube. Another stunning facet of Destiny is its graphics. Remember the jaw-dropping feeling you had playing Halo 1 and stepping out of the landing ship in the second mission to see the Halo ring in the sky and everything around you? When playing Destiny and just looking at the world around you, that same feeling comes up. The graphics are just so amazing. Destiny also uses loot systems with gear and weapons. While the loot system has some fundamental flaws (more on that later), it was a good gear game, and I always pushed myself to get better gear and weapons (EARLY ON). I also enjoyed the PvP a lot here and there. That's all the good. Now...THE BAD. Destiny takes inspirations from games like Borderlands or Diablo for its loot system, and it's not nearly as good here. Drop rates are very rare up until level 12 or 13, and the loot rewards you get for every mission complete are irritatingly random. On the subject of class diversity, I only played as the Hunter, and I had moderate fun with his abilities. The story of this game....WOW. Wait, did I say "story"? There's barely any at all! In the "story" missions I never felt as if there was a genuinely good reason of why I had to do this-and-that because most of the time, there wasn't any reason at all. There's only like 5 (maybe even less) cutscenes in the game, and when they do come around, they felt awkward and worthless. Halo is story-driven, and I get that Destiny is NOT Halo, but its pathetic that we would get this much storyline from Bungie. In terms of the mission structure, I kinda felt repetitive. I did say that I liked the PvP, but it can be unbalanced. Maybe about 40% of the time, I died from Super Charge abilities. CHEAP. The guns, though, for the most part, are balanced. Bungie has made comments saying the game "changes" after level 20. I got to level 22 before I stopped playing. You know why? The game becomes a complete, boring drag after level 20. To level up after that level, you must get gear with "light" on it. To do this, you'll find yourself in a constant grind for the good gear. When grinding, you'll be repeating missions a lot. The game just proves itself to be boring after that point. The game sprinkles in MMO aspects, but sadly, they don't go deep enough. I don't want you guys to think I dislike Destiny 'cause I sure as hell don't. However, the flaws take away big parts of the experience. You'll play the game for about 20 hours, and then you're just done. Simple as that. Buy the game at $45 or less. Expand

Too bad, any and every unique feeling weapon will be nerfed to balance pvp, essentially making every exotic weapon a visual reskin only.

Were you hoping to find unique epic armor that told "your story", too bad the best gear is raid gear and the sets look identical across each class. Meaning every warlock, titan and hunter effectively look exactly the same minus whichever exotic piece they chose.

Things that this game should of released with but for whatever reason did not:
Open world voice chat based on proximity in patrol areas and the tower
transmogrify system allowing you to customize your appearance separate from gear stats.
Separated balancing between pve and pvp allowing weapons to feel epic and awesome in pve while maintaining the balance sought after in pvp.
"events" like queens wrath should have at least several truly unique missions tied to them, not reskinned bounty icons with a vendor that sells "rare" quality items, at the very least offer exotic rewards.
Bring back the ability to dismantle event specific legendary gear for shards so that players have a reason to repeat missions more than 1 time.

The story mode is simplistic and leaves you feeling flat. Basically, kill aliens, get to a certain spot, hold x, hold the position by killing more aliens, repeat and repeat. Bounties are the only side quests available and, since you already beat the story mode, once again just kill, collect, get to certain area etc. The multi-player matchmaking is horrible. There is no perfectly fair mode yet (for all levels) and apparently with the new patches these end up nerfing weapons that you work hard on. I beat the game in about 3 days. Then I played the Lego Marvel Game for the first time and realized how much more innovative that game is than Destiny. Huge Disappointment. Expand

Putting that aside, Strike missions have been a lot of fun, giving the player to join up with fellow gamers and take down the forces of the Fallen, Hive, Vex and Cabal. Bungie also constantly update newer missions such as Raid missions which makes Destiny gaming experience very valuable, plus team work becomes essential.

Also the Crucible is a fun multiplayer zone that gives the player an idea of how tough a Titan, Worlock or Hunter you really are.

Let's not forget that the soundtrack is incredible, the visuals are a delight and the smooth gameplay has made this game grow on me since release day.

Let me start by saying I have put 238 hours into this game, done everything it has to offer, and obtained 37/41 achievements.

It's a terrible game in most respects. Don't buy into the hype. The gunplay mechanics are pretty solid, but you can only have so much fun killing hordes of the same enemies over and over again. The story is nearly nonexistent, what little there is is
Let me start by saying I have put 238 hours into this game, done everything it has to offer, and obtained 37/41 achievements.

It's a terrible game in most respects. Don't buy into the hype.

The gunplay mechanics are pretty solid, but you can only have so much fun killing hordes of the same enemies over and over again.

The story is nearly nonexistent, what little there is is convulted and full of jargon. Most of the lore of the universe is told via unlockable grimoire cards, which can only be accessed by visiting bungie's website. Lack of story makes immersion impossible, meaning you'll be all too aware of how terrible the game is.

Story missions consist mostly of your AI companion taking exactly 3 waves of enemies to unlock a door or hack a computer. The AI, your "ghost", is voiced by Peter Dinklage. ...Except imagine if Dinklage downed an entire bottle of valium and was being held hostage by Bungie. He sounds about as bored as you'll be doing the same strikes and missions over and over again. "That wizard came from the moon." Yeah, I'd probably down an entire bottle of valium too if I my script was like that.

The multiplayer, Crucible, is clearly half-assed. You use your same character from Player vs Environment, which obviously creates balance issues. There's only a handful of maps, meaning you'll likely get the same one 3 times in a row. Two of the maps are clearly too big for 6v6.
The flag placement in the control gametype (essentially domination from COD) is unbalanced.
Rewards for this gametype are random. Somebody who joins the game at the last second on the losing team has as much a chance at an exotic weapon as someone who backpacks their team to victory. There is no incentive to try. Stats can only be accessed through bungie.net. You'll have more fun running your teammates over with vehicles than actually playing the game, and you'll probably get rewarded for it anyway.

Furthermore, Bungie has been doing some patching, but not to fix the issues everyone is complaining about. Instead they decide to get rid of the "loot cave," an area where players would sit for hours on end, farming for drops. I found it too boring to partake in, but it was sort of like a casino game for players who had exhausted everything there was to do in a day. They also nerfed weapons that didn't need it (auto rifles), and completely ignored weapons that did (fusion rifles) for PvP. Except the nerfing also applies to PvE, because there aren't separate stats.

There's also no proximity chat, fireteam chat, or multiplayer chat. Apparently they're changing this soon, but this should have been something implemented from the beginning. The extent of your communication with players, unless you're in a party, will be the 4 emotes you have available. For a "shared-world shooter," it's pretty damn lonely.

Best thing I can say about this game is it brought me closer with my friends due to our mutual hatred for it. Oh, and it's kind of pretty.

Overall, this game earns a potato/10.

Destiny is lot of fun at first, but once you reach the end game, there is not much left to do, except endless grinding. But I will give it 8 for a fun PVP mode and future potential.

    - Character customization (Even if it's basic)
    - Easy leveling system
    - Easy social interactions
    - Slightest MMO feel.
    - Mix of different game modes/ events to play.

    Bad-
    - Only 3 to a fireteam (In game Party)
    - Horrible story-line
    - Repetitive game-play
    - Loot drop is shocking, zero reward for a lot of effort.
    - Leveling is too slow past 20.

    Overview-
    - This game, what to say about this game. It's one that I think I like then there are moments I really dislike it, so I have come to terms with the main reason this game isn't at the top of the win list. The Loot Drop, with all the games of today this is by far the worst loot drop based game I have EVER played. You can battle and shoot it out for an hour and at the end get a useless set of gloves and a light orb that takes a million of to get something good (Sarcastic), so at the end you feel robbed and underpaid. . . . For example, while in the crucible, myself and my friend where at the top of the leader board, just running a muck and managed to not only get the most points/ kills but win it even though, the rest of our team where in a negative. At the end we got nothing at all, where the rest got a mix of gloves, boots, helmets and light. After that there was no motive to play, because why should I work the hardest and get paid the least? So all in all amazing looking shooter and a lot of fun while playing, but the loot system has just destroyed it in my opinion. 5/10

I have had many instances in which I get a high KD and someone who joins in late gets better rewards. One way to get loot is to shoot identical aliens that walk out of a cave hoping they'll drop good loot. The multiplayer consists of shotguns and fusion riffles along with the occasional heavy ammo and super kills. Everyone says if you buy the DLCs the game will get better I have no reason to believe that any more than them saying the game was good. On the plus side the graphics are really good. Claiming there are hundreds or thousands of guns in the game is retarded there are about 10 Different types of weapons such as (Hand Cannon, Fusion Riffle, Shotgun, Sniper, Rocket Launcher, Pulse Riffle, Auto Riffle, LMG, and Semi Auto Riffle) within these groups there are guns that look almost exactly the same but have a different power and class. Their claims of having a space adventure is a loading screen in which your ship bobs up and down beside others. One of my favorite things to do in this game was the speeders, and classes. Is it worth $60? No it worth about $30. I hope this helped you out... Expand

Destiny feels like the key elements of an FPS and an MMO gently resting shoulder to shoulder, instead of being fused together in a truly creative way. It plays and looks great, and offers many, many hours of entertainment to anyone okay with repeating the same tasks, but it isn’t exactly the game-changing science fiction epic we felt it was aspiring to.

An ambitious if repetitive combination of shooter and loot based ARPG. A boost in loot drop frequency could definitely boost the fun/score. [Issue#254, p.47]
