Some aspects of the game and unlock requirements may feel a bit repetitive and tedious, for example if you get left behind in a race, then it’s simply irrecoverable. Restart it. You will however be drawn back and your wins will be fist pump moments.

It’s a must-buy for anyone who has craved a new Burnout game and physical buyers of the console version get Danger Zone 2 as a freebie – essentially bringing back Crash mode and providing more value for the money.

Dangerous Driving completes Burnout’s revival, but not flawlessly.

This really is just like Burnout. Less flamboyant, sure, but supremely enjoyable. [Issue#178, p.82]

Dangerous Driving feels like the little engine that could. When it works, it is a fantastic experience. It felt like Burnout never left. The lack of music and compromised original consoles though really drags it down a notch. I wanted to love this game a lot more than I did, but as it stands it is an incredible throwback to the glory days of Burnout racing. I hope Three Fields eventually gets to where they want to be and makes a true AAA Burnout clone. I would buy it day one. For now Dangerous Driving is the best alternative we have had in years.

Dangerous Driving is a fun but limited old-style racing game. Its sense of speed is exhilarating, but on a standard Xbox One/PS4 the frame rate drops to a not so exciting 30fps.

An interesting take on the classic Burnout-esque racing games, but falls too short on its efforts when you are not on the track, with awful menus, a bad campaign design and lack of game modes to be a true Burnout successor.

First of all, hats off to TFE for bringing Burnout back. It’s a shame the budget is holding back the experience, and some key aspects, like the handling or the physics need some tweaking. A few patches could make it noticeably better, and we hope for a sequel where everything comes together.

Three Fields are doing the gaming community a service by keeping the arcade racing genre alive when the big boys seem to have lost interest. Much like their previous entries, there’s a lot to like here – from the fast, responsive action to the sheer thrill of smashing rivals and reveling in that takedown camera. Sadly, its bare-bones approach to modes, its erratic physics, and its barely improved technical aspects, keep it from reaching the heights of its inspiration.

Disappointing is perhaps the best word to sum up Dangerous Driving. It could have been so much better, but instead it’s just passable fun. The saddest thing is, if you want a game that plays like classic Burnout, it’s the best option currently available. Like a cover band howling the tunes of your favourite but now defunct artist, it’s not a patch on the real thing, but you make do with what’s on offer. Dangerous Driving is good enough to provide some high octane entertainment, but it’ll still leave you craving a worthy Burnout successor.

The spirit of the classic Burnout series is omnipresent. But before the fun kicks into high gear, the highspeed racer is taken down by AI problems or lackluster presentation.

Dangerous Driving ends up being a Monotonous Bore. An arcade racer that doesn’t do anything particularly new or different. And really, when the crashes look like simple physics experiments from the late-90s that can trigger from the slightest of scrapes – it was destined to fall short of hitting its lofty Burnout spiritual successor goal.

As a Burnout fan, I had high hopes for Dangerous Driving. Unfortunately, Three Fields' effort fails to capture the spirit and feel of its inspiration, and consequently, emerges as a pale imitation.

For all the good in Dangerous Driving, there are many, many, moments of slackness. All of this combines to see Dangerous Driving deliver one of the most disappointing overall experiences I’ve had for a long old while.

When this game landed in my inbox, I did have very high hopes that this would be the Burnout of old that helped introduce me to Xbox 360 racing, as one of my first Xbox 360 purchases was Burnout Revenge. Unfortunately, those hopes were dashed by an ostensibly full-featured release that appears to be a beta in disguise. Three Fields is promising free updates that add content and fix issues. Unfortunately, as it stands today, players would be better advised to set their satnav’s destination for another title.

It’s hard to recommend this to anyone unless you’re sorely desperate for a new Burnout game. If anything, Dangerous Driving might leave you pining for a decent sequel more than ever.

Dangerous Driving puts you behind the wheel racing at break neck speeds and feels thrilling as a roller coaster ride when you really max outDangerous Driving puts you behind the wheel racing at break neck speeds and feels thrilling as a roller coaster ride when you really max out at top speeds. The game looks and runs silky smooth most of the time with only occasional jitters, which I believe are a fraction of a second loading sequences on rare occasions. The Burnout series built a massive fanbase rapidly when it came to the arcade style racing and furious soundtracks, as did I spend soo many hours crashing cars at high speeds. I was thoroughly looking forward to the arrival of Dangerous Driving and while it may not be Burnout 3, I have thoroughly enjoyed every game Three Fields Entertainment has brought to the Xbox One. Dangerous Driving rocks you with a huge amount of fun and and custom Spotify music to rock even the original burnout playlists to if you prefer to like me. I found the racing at high speeds to be a rush and I was pleased with the car physics and the ability to adjust the sensitivity in the steering controls. Crashing was still really enjoyable and with the number of courses so the game stays fresh and fun especially if you are rocking to your Spotify favorites along the routes. I'm looking very forward to the DLC and tweaks to come in the following months. Those who are looking for Burnout nostalgia will no doubt have a blast with Dangerous Driving because I absolutely did. This is an excellent game at the right price point and in the end I give it a thumbs up, great work once again Three Fields Entertainment. Full Review »
