This game is quite a bit of fun.

The single player campaign was a good time, Although I actually found the storey just average, with some occasional eye rolling motion capture acting and bad lines. The action of the campaign made up for it. Some of the missions were significant fun and varied. I could tell that they were trying hard to make a good single player experience. I would have preferred to have a bit more freedom on some of the levels. I also enjoyed the new features provided by the exo suit.

In multi-player, the exo suit does change a lot, I found the game significantly faster. I found the speed of play and movement made this game much more difficult than previous version incarnations to maintain a decent k/d ratio. Not only is it faster but you and other players have significantly more movement options and now also have worry about the vertical plane with people bouncing across rooftops as well as on the ground. The multi-player is fast and fun but takes some time to get used to the new additions. I like the pick 13 system for the create a class. The map design is great. I like all of the maps and each map have some great features and are fun to move around in.

They should have kept "Squads" from Ghosts. The one major thing COD: Ghosts did correctly was Squads. It was a good place for new players, Much better then the Combat readiness program in this game, as new players in ghosts could select the type of play they wanted and use their normal load outs from multi-player as well as continue to earn exp for their playtime. Squads also had a Horde mode called Safeguard that is the same as the Exo-survival mode in Advanced warfare but allowed up to Six players and not just four, The squads version also allowed you to earn exp for your normal multiplayer character. I play a lot of split screen with my wife and kids, With ghosts they really enjoys the squad mode as they were able to earn Exp and build a character in a multiplayer online co-op mode. In Advanced warfare, you get the horde mode with fewer options as well as the combat readiness program, that seems like a waste of time as neither count towards a character. It seems odd that Activision would take these features away.

Lack of Special play mode with basic game. Previous versions have had a special mode, like Zombies or Extinction. This game does not have one of these modes. Although I have heard it will be available as dlc it unlike previous versions doesn't come with the original game.

Although a lot of fun, with some really good steps forward, Advanced warfare seems to also take away the little extra value that other editions seems to provide so it can sell it to you as dlc latter. This is a trend that many games have unfortunately.

I still will give this game an 8 out of ten due to how much fun it is to play, Could it be better, yes. Could the story be better, yes. Could the acting be better, yes. Could they have added in more extras that previous versions of COD have had, yes. And they should have done all of these things but the end result is the game is still a lot of fun to play. It is different enough that if you are a arcade shooter fan, I would recommend getting this game. The map designs are also really really good. The graphic are also extremely good.

The game play is what you would expect from a CoD game. Silkily smooth movement and great looking texture. The new Exo Ability’s add a much need refresh to the CoD series.

For the People claiming that this game requires no skill are dearly mistaken. While it may have a steep learning curve due to all the new abilities the game is still very fun even when you are getting stomped.

Following the disappointing Ghosts, Advanced Warfare marks a return to form for the Call of Duty series.

Campaign - While the majority of my time thus far has been spent in mult-iplayer, what I have played from the campaign has been enjoyable, and a clear step up from recent COD titles.
The game looks gorgeous visually, and the character performances allow you to become immersed in what has been, for the first few hours, a coherent narrative. The "Advanced Warfare" also helps keep missions fresh, providing new toys to play with and experiences that aren't exactly identical to previous COD's. The only issue I've had thus far is with the quick time events. The prompts are so small you can miss them if you are drawn in to the action around you, which causes you to replay a section.

Multiplayer - Fortunately this game builds off the multi-player from Black Ops2 and acts as if Ghosts never existed. This means the game has went back to the more traditional and addictive ways of unlocking items and completing challenges.
Some new features include the ability to modify score-streaks, a pick 13 system (instead of 10) and supply drops. The supply drops could have been an issue, since they are random, if it was the only way to unlock equipment, but instead they just add to the experience since they provide new apparel and modified versions of weapons that you can receive simply be leveling up.
The game also returns old modes while providing new as well, Uplink. Really there is something for everyone. Don't like the exo-suit? There is a classic playlist that allows you to play without it. However, that may be a mistake since the suit does open the game up and changes the dynamic of the entire experience. It provides a sense of experimentation and wonderment that has largely been absent from the series since the initial Modern Warfare.
The main negative at the moment has been lag and connectivity issues. This can be a major problem in a game like this, but it also is the first week, so such issues are not unexpected. It is worth monitoring how this is addressed or if it stabilizes here in the near future.

COD may not be the thinking-man's tactical first-person-shooter, but what Advanced Warfare does is bring the fun back to the series. And really, isn't that what you are looking for when you purchase and play a Call of Duty title?

    WHAT THE GAME DOES WELL
COD has always done a nice job of making fast paced video game action feel so gritty and realistic (Says the man whom the closest I ever came to a battlefield was one of those boring Civil War reenactments my Dad made me go to). Even in the parts of the game where you are essentially battling as or against a killer robot it maintains a certain level of realism, as weird as that sounds.

My favorite parts of the game is when you get to play with the futuristic technology that we imagine militaries possessing someday. There really is no feeling quite like the one when you are operating weapons that will one day be designed by the brightest minds in the scientific field for the sole purpose of making it easier to kill more people faster. It does kind of make you think we are heading for a bleak and depressing future, but meanwhile in the present it makes for one hell of a video game!

Best looking game I’ve played so far on Xbox One. The motion capture looks awesome and if they could only make the facial expressions feel a little less stiff, it would look pretty close to the real deal. I also know that this statement will make me look stupid in not too many years from now as the graphics keep improving to the point where we will basically be looking at a real human someday.

Advanced warfare is another great example of where it is better to have the campaign be short and compelling rather than adding in hours of filler gameplay just for the sake of getting a longer game. Each of Advance Warfare’s level are well thought out and add something to a very enjoyable and exciting action movie-esque story.

WHAT THE GAME DOES EVEN BETTER
Kevin Spacey is an American Treasure that gives a great performance in this game solely because he is incapable of not giving great performances. He is very much prone to overacting (which is pretty much the only kind of acting he does these days), but Kevin Spacey overacting is still an achievement that must be experienced at all times and in all forms. I want to see him continue to be motioned captured into even more video games, even when it doesn’t make sense.

WHAT THE GAME COULD HAVE IMPROVED
I was kind of hoping for better and more exciting gameplay. By no means is the gameplay dull or limited, but Titanfall has just done the futuristic warfare angle better so far. Titanfall made me feel more like an innovative and unstoppable killing machine then I got from this game. COD will just have to settle for second place this year in that specific category.

Call Of Duty multiplayer and I just do not get along. I’m not that good at multiplayer in general, as I would describe my overall ability as “average.” With COD though I would say my abilities would be better classified as “I suck.” It seems like whenever I start playing it usually ends with people I don’t know complaining about how I’m repeatedly holding the team back. Since I don’t (usually) like getting ridiculed by strangers on-line, I don’t end up getting that much replay value with COD games.

    OVERALL
As someone that pretty much plays Call of Duty for the campaign and just dabbles with the multiplayer I’m not really getting into the full Advance Warfare experience. However, just the campaign is enough reason to play the game, because even though it is short, it is still very well done. I ended up playing through the campaign twice, so even without getting into multiplayer I still feel like I got my money’s worth.

I was very surprised! Graphics were amazing, gameplay was solid, and the exo suits fit the game well. The worst part of the game was probably the sounds as the guns sounded the same as popcorn being microwaved. The story was good but not great and the multiplayer is AMAZING. Exo Survival is pointless and dull. Overall, definitely worth the price!

The gameplay and graphics are outstanding, and the game runs so fluid.. It's beautiful. It really is a true next gen shooter and I'm really excited to see what Sledgehammer can do to now improve on this even more. I have a few negatives such as kill cams. I feel this is a problem every year and even though its been improved a little, I always sometimes wondering how has that guy killed me even though I'm behind cover?! My only other fault is the frustration when you shoot someone first and then out of nowhere (No RKO pun intended) he just kills you. If sledgehammer could get those faults, or at least kill cams correct, Call of duty is only going to get better and better. First off: the classic Call of Duty fans should know that this game does include a 'classic' playlist online which excludes any of the new exo abilities, that being said, I think this game keeps a nice balance of old and new to keep a good median of the fans pleased. Like any other Call of Duty game, yes, it does feel like that same thing that we get year after year with not a lot of new things being brought to the table. The game does bring the use of the 'exo suits' in which give the game that feeling of Titanfall pilot play being able to double jump and turn invisible. At first the gun selection felt very weak, but once you realize that you earn different and better variations of each gun as you progress adds a new sense of accomplishment and loot. Other than the addition of the exo suits (which give you the ability to double jump, hover, and a number of other futuristic abilities) it really is the same old Call of Duty. The fact that they brought back my personally loved 'Infection' mode was a huge plus being it's been absent since Modern Warfare 3. I think most multiplayer fans will be happy since they have playlists to suit just about everyone's wants, plus it brings back the fun of custom emblems that I know I missed the most when Ghosts was launched. As far as the story goes, I can say this is the first campaign in the Call of Duty series that I got into really easily and I think it really is mostly because of the character they built for Kevin Spacey. It really does have the same linear missions that they always have been, but Spacey does bring that cinematic feel to it that makes it feel like something other than the same old predicable story lines these games have always been. In all; the game is what it is, just another entry in the Call of Duty lineup that will never end, but it did change it up enough from those before it to make it fun again without feeling like you are just playing the same game from last year. These games always lack real variety, but really, when all you are doing is: spawning, shooting, dying and repeating there isn't a lot of variety to be had but at least it's different enough from those before it that it does make it fun again. I know for a lot of people these games are guilty pleasures because you don't want people to know that all you do is play the same 8 maps over and over killing mouthy 12 year old boys, well, this latest entry really is guilty pleasure worth even though not a lot has really changed over the span of the past 5 entries. So, a hit in points because it's the same old thing, but still a high score for bringing future to the table without making it a 'Halo' game with spaceships, lasers and aliens... oh wait, they do have lasers. What most people need to understand is that it's not the game itself that makes the online play for most people enjoyable, but more the people playing it who take the time to find ways to exploit and even cheat by controlling your spawn points and camping them out; those people will always be around to ruin the fun of those that are just playing to have a good time. Unlike previous entries, this one features the likeness of a major Hollywood actor. In "Advanced", Kevin Spacey plays a corrupt C.E.O. who isn't a far cry from his "House of Cards" character. Gameplay-wise, the big innovation is the exo-suits which are right out of the sci-fi flick "Elysium". Their inclusion in multiplayer help quicken the pace to the combat in both competitive and cooperative modes. Unfortunately, the suits' abilities are restricted in the otherwise entertaining campaign.

One of the game's highlights are the visuals. Graphically, it is a solid jump up from the previous gen's COD titles. The single player takes on the form of a futuristic "Modern Warfare" with cool tech such as the sticky gloves from "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol". Developer Sledgehammer Games (they co-created MW 3) has not only done a steady job with the single player and multiplayer aspect, but have added their own zombies experience. The exo-suits give the "Advanced Warfare" zombie maps a different feel from Treyarch's zombies. AW also includes a cooperative survival mode that featues waves of different enemies. It can be played with four players and is quite fun though it lacks depth.

Overall, this is a solid entry in the "Call of Duty" franchise. It may not be a masterpiece, but it is a solid outing. I'd rate it with an 8.3 out of 10.

As for zombies and the DLC maps, it was ok but i dont think it's worth the money, although i did enjoy the exo survival mode. Although it's not the best call of duty, its still a good game worth playing however i don't recommend the DLC or the season pass. Expand

I can't believe I am going to type this but this CoD, while being better than Ghosts, feels very generic. The maps are insanely small, the fact they are trying so hard to be Titanfall without Mechs, it just all falls flat. I am not saying this game is terrible, but it sure isn't great either anyone giving this a 10 is a fanboy, as is anyone giving a 0 is just a hater. The campaign on Advanced Warfare is great compared to previous CoD games, if only for the fact that you can actually follow the story! Kevin Spacey is a great addition and although there’s no real surprises in the story it’s quite enjoyable to play through. In this franchise (and its competitors’) I don’t expect much from the single player modes, but this was a vast improvement.

The multiplayer modes are where these games make their money. AW doesn’t make the “huge leaps forward” that you may have read in some reviews, but it’s as good, if not a little better, as its previous versions. The loot system is a nice addition but it’s not quite right yet. There’s a lot of confusion as to why you receive the Supply Crates so there’s no way of encouraging more to come your way. Often when you do receive one it’s less than useless, but I like this idea. I’m keen to see how they develop it in future releases.

We lose a bit of the selection when it comes to the weapons, we gain a couple more game modes and the clan system. I’m not sure the clan thing really works but I can see this being improved shortly. The new “Uplink” mode is a lot of fun and adds a little more variety to the gameplay.

Overall, this is still a re-issue of the same old CoD format with the usual improvements here and there. Nothing positively or negatively shocking here, just another good CoD game.

    This is for mp only.

The main point of this game must be the exo and it work very well. Maps are well done and work well with this new exo. I've played for 8 hours now and I did not notice any problem with it. The come the gameplay that is always good with COD. The new guns and all the stuff appear to be interesting but don't think there is enough perk. Not sure if this is a port

Not sure if this is a port for some ppl but I found that this pc version work very well. Np on this aspect of the game.

Now the graphics are nice but not as good as BF4. But the maps are nice, most of them are. The sound is good but I think it could be better.

Call of Duty:Ghosts is considered by many including myself to be one of the worst Call of Duty games of all time. Was this game better?

The answer is yes, but this certainly wasn't the best. Let's start off with the campaign since it is the only thing I really enjoyed. Actually it is probably one of the best of the series. Kevin Spacey plays his role very well(as always) as well as the other voice actors. There were actually characters that I gave a damn about this time around instead of just random red shirts. The story is compelling and levels are well-designed. A very satisfactory campaign overall.
Now for the part I didn't enjoy all that much, multiplayer. I didn't care for the changes they made with the multiplayer and does little to actually change the gameplay as a whole. The booster packs and mech suits were just a copy cat of Halo. Call of Duty has had a problem as of late with copying other game mechanics, but this was just too obvious. Activision needs a major transformation of this series' multiplayer.
Overall, I would call this game good, but only due to its stellar campaign. However, it is almost at the point where a great campaign is no longer enough for satisfaction.

I lost interest in the COD series a long time ago. As a matter of fact, Ghosts was the first COD I've never purchased. With this however, I was trying a hail-mary sort of pass to bring me back into the franchise I once held ever so dearly. Firstly, the graphics and sound quality are top notch and a true feat of next-generation gaming. The storyline was solid enough and even the multiplayer was adjusted enough to make it different yet familiar. All this aside, after three days of playing I found myself getting sidetracked with different games. It's lost it's edge, it's touch, it's grapple on me for wanting to go back. The game itself is nothing short of fine craftsmanship; it's just not enough of a lure to drag me away from other games. The campaign, whilst brilliant is somewhat forgettable and per-COD-renown way too short. The inclusion of Kevin Spacey is brilliant and his role is well fulfilled. There just simply isn't enough of a drawcard to make it stand out like it once did. 7/10 Expand

Standard COD game except All the exco suit stuff makes the game worse imo. The levels are still designed like they used to be. Stairs and ladders leading places. Now you just ignore them. The levels aren't designed with all the abilities in mind. I feel like playing multiplayer now is like playing a game where everyone is using cheat codes.

Using an exco suit jump makes you appear on radar. There is a perk that stops that. I feel like its a mandatory perk because if you don't use the abilities you traverse the maps so slowly. So its a game where everyone uses the same perk.

Graphics seem no better then last gen. Then again I feel that about every single game this generation.

If you play Call Of Duty online all year round then Christmas has officially come early. But if you’re a sucker for the ludicrous, globe-trotting, re-skinned James Bond adventures that constitute these games in single player, you’ve picked the perfect year in which to take a twelve-month break.

Advanced Warfare is still Call of Duty, but it's more playful, knowing and refreshing than COD's been in years. [Christmas 2014, p.112]

In many ways, the game is the perfect distillation of the franchise's core appeal. But it's still just Call of Duty, don't expect it to revolutionize the industry. [Issue#118, p.61]
