    An ideal game for X-mas times. Inspired by classic such as Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie and little bites of Luigi's Mansion, it has enough personality to feel original and make its own adventure.

    A Hat In Time is a game that is proud to wear its influences on its sleeve and largely does them justice. The 3D platformer features a quirky story, diverse and memorable levels, interesting well-voiced characters, and collectibles that actually have a point. The platforming is responsive and the difficulty scales appropriately on the whole, but the game is let down by camera issues — clipping through objects, zooming in at inappropriate times, and shaking all contribute to unfair deaths for the player, often at the worst possible moment. There's something here for players of all abilities and most will be able to look past its faults for another enjoyable completion.

    I had hoped for some more originality to be seen in the game’s mechanics or level design, but the lack thereof doesn’t hinder the quality of the experience. Nothing in A Hat in Time is going to change how you think about 3D platformers, but if you know that ahead of time and are still looking for an enjoyable, cute collectaton, there are definitely worse options to choose from.

    A Hat in Time is a decent game that suffers from some technical issues, and while it doesn't present anything new for the platforming genre, it has the potential to provide a better experience future installments if it thinks out of the box more and more.

    I applaud Gears for Breakfast for their ideas and vision, as A Hat in Time is in many ways truly original. I’m just really disappointed it wasn’t better executed in terms of technical finesse.

    On one hand, I applaud the passion that developer Gears for Breakfast approached this project with, and admire their enthusiasm. However, on the other hand, I have to be honest and admit that I didn’t have much fun with this game. Although A Hat in Time was crafted with love, and has some good moments, it’s overwhelming and obtuse, and lacks cohesion, polish and great gameplay.

    Reasonable people can disagree on whether and how heavily to weigh its off-screen issues. What’s less open to debate, however, is how much this game is weighed down by wonky controls and an even wonkier camera. There are other, much better 3D platformers out there, and they’re much more deserving of our time and your money.

    This year has seen quite a few 3D platformers and I’m pleased that the genre has seen a resurgence because I must admit that I’m quite a fanThis year has seen quite a few 3D platformers and I’m pleased that the genre has seen a resurgence because I must admit that I’m quite a fan of 3D platformers. A Hat in Time is a game that I’ve heard quite a lot of good things about so I was actually quite looking forward to it, and thankfully it was worth the wait. They have managed to deliver in a number of areas and that’s evident from the get go. The levels in the game can be quite brilliant at times and you can tell that they’ve had a lot of effort put into them. The world in which the levels take place in is fantastic and the game encourages you to explore a lot, and when exploring you will come across loads of little secrets which is great. Whilst the exploring is great you will however struggle with the camera from time to time and it will frustrate you as well, but thankfully it’s only a small problem in the grand scheme of things. The most important thing of a 3D platformer is obviously the platforming elements and thankfully everything has been done well here, which is both a relief and very much appreciated. Another thing the game gets right is that is has a decent amount of replayability and I didn’t get bored very often because there are a number of different abilities for you to collect and use. The presentation side of the game is absolutely perfect in my opinion. Visually the game manages to be both retro and modern at the same time and the same can also be said about the soundtrack, which is great. At the end of the day A Hat in Time is a fantastic addition to the 3D platforming genre and in a lot of ways it reminds me of why I like the genre so much. It does a great job of being fun and enticing throughout and the mechanics it needs to get right it does get right. I only have two real gripes with the game so it shows you that it gets most of the things right, and this makes A Hat in Time one of my favourite games I’ve played this year, so without a doubt this game gets a massive thumbs up from me.… Full Review »

    Deliciously fun, charming as charming can be and good lenght!
    Only complain is on fps not completely solid and minor camera problems.
