Game InformerA solid interface makes this Xbox 360 port a reasonable - though not ideal - way to play Tropico 3. [Issue#203, p.92]
-
Tropico 3 is a one of a kind game for the 360. I think that's what makes it so great, is that there are next to no other games on the system that are like it.
-
If you're an Xbox 360 strategist or megalomaniac then get this game as you won't be disappointed.
-
Tropico 3, while problematic, still manages to dig its hooks in deep.
-
Overall though, the gameplay is what shines through here, and while I'm sure there's a better experience to be had with the PC version, 360 owners itching for some city building sim will be pretty happy with what this port has to offer.
-
You will be pleasantly surprised by what this simulator offers. A must buy any day.
-
Tropico 3 combines a very good city building game with an intriguing political game. In that regard, it's fairly unique in the 360 catalog.
-
It's complicated enough playing on PC with so many menus to navigate and things to keep check on. However, Tropico 3 does a good job of having things accessible despite having a terrible tutorial.
-
Tropico 3 is a deep, complex and though game, packaged in a very good technical realization and catchy music. Missions are much varied and never boring, but they get sometimes ruined by the complex and unclear menus. If you like managerial games, this is surely a suggested game.
-
Whatever your inclinations, Tropico 3 is an enjoyable city simulator that offers the same sort of replayability that others of its kind do; this one just emphasizes experimentation with moral behavior rather than perfecting a building grid.
-
Games Master UKAn engaging, competent city builder but it doesn't quite offer the unique spin it suggests. [Christmas 2009, p.79]
-
Xbox World 360 Magazine UKA challenging city builder. Shame it doesn't like you ruling with an iron fist. [Jan 2010, p.87]
-
Suffice it to say, the more you play the more in-depth and rewarding the game becomes. The presentation is top-notch for a game of this genre, with beautiful visuals bringing your island to life and a rollicking score to keep your ears happy
-
While Tropico 3 on the Xbox 360 is enjoyable, there’s no reason to get it on the console if you have a PC capable of running it. The game is still an entertaining experience, but the controls are plain-and-simple better on the mouse and keyboard.
-
Tropico 3 offers gamers hours of strategic goodness on Xbox 360. However, playing by yourself will probably only hold your interest for short stints.
-
Tropico 3 is a great distraction, if a bit dated and minimal-looking.
-
Tropico 3 is a great city builder and at the same time an enjoyable and very good-looking RTS also in Xbox 360.
-
This game could have easily pushed into the eighties had it not been for the awful and extremely frustrating save game issues that dog it right from the start to end. Nothing is more upsetting than losing hours upon hours of work to a simple design flaw and it almost puts you off starting again. Where the game really succeeds though is that, despite all that, you cannot help but want one more go.
-
Official Xbox MagazineCommit to your fiefdom, and Tropico 3 becomes a gift that keeps on giving. [Apr 2010, p.81]
-
If you’ve ever daydreamed of being a Caribbean dictator, Tropico 3 provides you with just kind of gaming experience, and the generous helping of over-the-top political humor and educational tidbits from that era in history are what really set this game apart from other city simulations.
-
While the Tropico franchise has existed on the PC for a while, Tropico 3 marks its first appearance on consoles, and for the most part, it's a solid first outing.
