Another lovely instalment to Telltale's noir thriller, though cracks in the studio's model and/or ambition are starting to show. [Issue#111, p.80]

A Crooked Mile continues the Fabletown tale in fine form, elevating it above the weaker second chapter and putting it on a par with the first.

Telltale make the most of what could have been a flabby third entry by piling on the pressure and ensuring you know that no-one is to be trusted. That said, the game's mechanics are clearly starting to show, which doesn't do the story any favours.

An improvement on the last episode and although some of the storytelling tricks are a bit of a cheat they’re all in the service of an increasingly intriguing plot.

I hope that Telltale is playing the long game here and that the final two episodes will pull everything together in a satisfying way. Not so much for the story - I find myself curiously unconcerned by the prospect of discovering the identity of the killer - but because I want to feel like I made a real difference during the time I spent in Wolf's clothing.

Taken by itself, it's unsatisfying and half-missing, but of course it's not meant to be taken by itself. It's the centerpiece of a larger whole, the lock that will let everything eventually make sense. Crooked Mile has a hard job to do, and has the bruises to show it.

I'm really getting tired of each episode leading you one way and then suddenly switching directions. It's only interesting the first time (or two). At this point it is expected such that I don't put much trust into what the episode reveals, it'll be proven wrong in the next episode anyway.

The QTEs are back again and they still suck. But this episode has 1 particular QTE that is completely useless. It doesn't matter what you do the results will be the same. It is just TTs way of making you mash a button for a few minutes. Boring.

I'm not that big of a fan of missable stuff. For this episode you have to replay certain sections to get all the books. This just equates to me watching the same cutscenes over and over again. I've got other games to play so I don't want to sit through the same scene 2 or 3 times.

There are 2 episodes left. TT needs to start wrapping up the threads because at this point the drama is wearing thin. It's like a soap opera that has gone on too long. Let's stop with the "false" story lines. It isn't unexpected anymore.
