Resident Evil Code: Veronica X HD, despite the re-learning curve, is still one of the best games that came from the four original RE titles.

Yes, it feels extremely stiff and archaic at spots, but it's still playable and totally worth diving into.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica X is a must-have game, but only if you fall under certain requirements. You have to be fine with more puzzles and obscure item hunts than combat. There must be a comfort level with the various odd camera angles that the game seems to love. The fact that some of the dialogue is off and that some of the voices are laughable shouldn't pose much of a problem to you. You also have to be fine with the graphical improvements being good but not mind-blowing. If you can live with all of this, then you'll certainly enjoy this classic entry in the series because of the story and action. If any of the aforementioned aspects bother you, then stick with the franchise games from Resident Evil 4 onward.

This one is definitely more geared towards the hardcore RE fan than those that are new to the series with 4 or 5, so keep in mind that if you haven't played through the original trilogy of games, you're going to be in for a bit of shock with this one.

So yes. Code Veronica X still does the job. For fifteen pounds though? Hmmm. Unsure. If you're loopy about all things Resident Evil and have some xbox points sitting about then knock yourself out.

Another "Resi" HD Remake, another little disappointment. This time, however, Capcom doesn't deserve too much criticisms… this 11 years old title is maybe more geared towards hardcore fans than the newcomers.

While it may have some video issues Code Veronica is still a great time and worth looking into.

Code Veronica was an incredible game with stellar visuals, a tense atmosphere, and meaty campaign to keep you busy for a very long time. But now that it's been reanimated for the Xbox 360 and PS3, it's obvious how poorly the last eleven years have treated it.

Just don't expect to slip into the gameplay as easily as you might have done with Resident Evil 4 HD. Code: Veronica X may provide many hours of zombie-killing fun, but they're difficult hours, and playing it requires accustoming yourself to the gameplay norms of an increasingly distant era.

Despite being one of the best chapters of the series, this edition of Code Veronica has almost no improvements in visual aspect. Capcom delivers another bad remake for a high price.

Code Veronica X was one of the greatest titles in the Resident Evil saga, but the curiosity to know what terrified gamers ten years ago would be the only reason to buy an overpriced game with such an out-of-date gameplay.

If you can get past the game's clunkiness, you'll be in for a fun (but not mind-blowing) adventure!

The convenience of modern games makes this Resident Evil Code: Veronica X feel dated.

Both the exasperating controls and misuse of resources can be unforgiving and crippling to the gameplay progress, but careful and patient gamers that acclimate to both will find an amazing survivor-horror story with plenty of hours of gameplay.

If you absolutely have to get a downloadable Resident Evil fix, get Resident Evil 4 HD instead. It holds up markedly better in every conceivable way and looks pretty good in high definition.

A relic of a bygone era that Capcom has done nothing to reinvent for modern audiences with this reissue. Yet beneath its off-putting anachronisms there is a worthwhile, menacing game - for those with the eyes to catch it.

In many ways, the only reason to play through Code Veronica is to truly appreciate what RE 4 and RE 5 managed to do. Unfortunately not all titles age equally.
