Resident Evil Code: Veronica X gives PS4 players a chance to experience an underrated classic of the series, via this surprisingly robust PS2 Classics emulation.

Putting together the best elements from old classics and newer titles, this is probably one of the best RE's available.

It's still one of the best entries in the series, but it's illogical that they released the exact same PS2 games, instead of the more recent HD version for PS3. Great story and characters, but gameplay and graphics are not up to the task.

It maintains the spirit of the great game it once was, but this lazy port enhances the main faults of the original: a cumbersome control scheme and restrictive inventory mechanics.

This adaptation is almost disrespectful for one of the most iconic games in the saga. A kind of emulation of PS2 with minimal additions.

It's a port of the PS2 version and holds its own against the HD edition. This is the last of the old-school RE games, so the controls are clunky and the voice acting is pure cheese. But it's also great fun. I would rate this with an 8 out of 10. Expand

    Final Thoughts:

Resident Evil Code: Veronica X is undoubtedly the black sheep of the series, marking the overdue need to transition its mechanics, despite the comfort that returning players will find in them. Rehashed story beats and over-the-top characters feel less iconic and more lazy than in previous instalments, and poor design choices make the new 3D visuals forgettable. It’s undeniable that Code: Veronica rests on the laurels of Claire and Chris Redfield, who’re thankfully supported by some wonderful music and smart puzzles.

However,I am an enormous fan of the franchise and after reading so many positive reviews I was excited to finally give this game a chance. However, after finally beating it I feel like I'm in an M. Night Shyamalan movie or something because this game is absolute butt cheeks and I don't understand why so many people are simping for it. "I know what it’s like to lose. To feel so desperately that you’re right… yet to fail, nonetheless." - The Anos This game are bad. If this review sounds like it was written by a crazy person, it's only because I played Code Veronica before writing it. Benghazi was an inside job. Expand
