It was good, Not as great as everyone made it out to be but it was well worth playing. Had a fair share of annoying bugs and glitches and a campaign filled with repetitive objectives though. Other then that it was fine.

nearly perfect graphics, gameplay is very reliable and and you spend most of the time having a lot of fun just by riding around with your horse, the plot is good, but gets very tense at some parts, and I often felt sad about the end of a side mission

The story is interactive, addicting, and overall, fun. The graphics are absolutely phenomenal and look very close to real life. Completing the game 100% takes about 40 hours because of the engaging side quests and long story (57 missions). The story alone without considering optional side missions, challenges, and strangers would probably take about 20 hours. I found myself doing the side missions first, and then doing some of the story, and then more side missions. Rockstar Games really showed improvement from Grand Theft Auto IV in terms of keeping interest of players, better story and graphics, and filling an open world with various things to do. You could even start up a game of Texas Hold 'Em or Five Finger Fillet. I really enjoyed Dead-Eye and it is really what polishes the game. Red Dead Redemption really shows the open world genre what it is all about and really immerses you in the Western culture of 1911, even if you are not into cowboys and the wild west (which I sure was not). I could not bring myself to rate it a 10 out of 10 for the following reasons. I am not going to spoil it, but the ending to the story was very disappointing, not because it was underwhelming or anticlimactic, but because it ended abruptly and was unnecessary. Furthermore, the save system and computer AI are both awkward. Many times my horse would commit suicide and would require me to get a new one. I found it kind of odd that my horse has no problem jumping off a 300 foot cliff, but there is an invisible wall every time I tell it to go down a 5 foot incline. The glitches are very numerous and you will undoubtedly run into some; such as, sinking underneath the solid ground and going under the map with long motion blurs, dueling someone as they are facing the wrong way, your horse randomly dying for absolutely no reason, objects rendering right in front of your eyes; that kind of stuff. I really hate that the majority of the missions told you to go really far away to actually start doing stuff. All that accomplished was tiring me and wasting my time. One last negative thing, the online multiplayer, in my opinion, is worse than Grand Theft Auto IV's. It works on a experience point system where you work your way up the ranks, but it is irritating because everyone else is already there and you will just get wasted away. You have no chance if you are new so get ready to do a lot of boring missions just for XP. In Grand Theft Auto IV, everyone had a chance; not so much here. Overall, great open world game that really should be picked up for its amazing single player mode and addicting, non-stop, can-not-put-it-down-until-it-is-one-hundred-percent-completed gameplay, with few problems and annoyances. The only reason this doesn't get a 10 is because of a few glitches and bugs, especially the 100% glitch (Still got Redeemed though), but rockstar has announced they're addressing the issue. Expand

Truely brilliant game. If you liked GTA IV and like western movies this is a must have. Great gameplay, story telling, graphics and voice acting. So much to do, side missions, mini games and even hunting. I love the "Dead Eye" shooting mechanic. To even mention how good the ending is does not do it justice, I stood up and cheered! As close to a 10 without being a 10 that I can give.

I was never a fan of Grand Theft Auto, and when I heard that Red Dead Redemption was like a clone of GTA, I didn't know if I'd like it. But I decided to check it out cause it did look interesting, and plus being a criminal was optional this time around, which is great cause I don't like being the bad guy in video games. Plus I grew up in Texas, so playing a western style game would probably remind me a bit of home. The result? Fantastic! The game definately went beyond my expectations. It had a very good story. It was funny, dramatic at times, and of course it was action packed. The game stars John Marston, a man who once walked the path of an outlaw, but decided to walk away from that life to start a family, and go straight. But Govenment officials decide to kidnap his family, in order to blackmail John into hunting down his old gang members. John agrees to do it for the sake of his family, and so you must now travel around, looking for these outlaws. Throughout the game, you have to travel between towns and countries to complete quests for people in need, so you can earn the trust of the people who can help John find his old friends and kill them. On top of the things you must do to progress, the game has a huge amount of sidequests that will earn you honor and fame, which will help unlock more side-quests, so you can get more done, and get more found. The world in this game is big, and I mean really big. It's almost as huge as the world in Elder Scrolls IV, if not bigger. So you'll never get bored of exploring the beautiful landscapes of New Austin Texas. The combat system is pretty much flawless, it's just like many other 3rd person shooter systems, you hold a button to aim over Johns shoulder, and press another to shoot. The crosshair is pretty small, it's basically a tiny white dot, but believe it or not, it's not hard to get used to at all, cause once you learn the dead-eye targeting system, you won't care how big the crosshair is. With the dead-eye system, you can freeze time, and place you crosshair on the enemy, and set your spots where you want to shoot your enemy, then once you release the time freeze, John will automatically shoot in those exact spots. Of course this has limitations, you have a dead-eye meter, and once it runs out, no dead-eye for a while. Don't like it? Tough luck cowboy. The game has all the freedom of a GTA game, you can go around and rec havoc, or you can help the good towns people. Wanna get drunk? Go to the bar and have a few drinks why don't ya? Wanna do a little gamblin? Stop by town and play some poker, some blackjack, or heck maybe even some liars dice if ur in the mood. But how bout some bounty huntin? You can do that too sonny boy. When you see a wanted poster, take it, and get yourself a nice bounty by hunting down the bastard who broke the law. It's all a great time, and why not even go into the wild, and do some hunting? Or maybe you wanna go wrangle some horses. How bout racing? Or maybe you just wanna get into some trouble with the law like you did in GTA. It's all there, all the freedom of GTA and more. Of course the game isn't perfect. As many people will tell you, Red Dead Redemption is a very glitchy game. I was once playing the game, and when I stopped in the wild to inspect something I found, I saw as my horse took off flying like it had wings. It went so high up, that it fell to the ground and died, luckily I had a horse certificate with me so I could call another one, but that was funny. It was like my horse was abducted by aliens. lol So yeah, you will expirience glitches, and probably alot of them, but they usually won't interfere with the overall progression of the game. Bottom line, this game is great, and it's a must by if you own a 360 or PS3, especially if you're a big fan of Grand Theft Auto. If you havn't already, get this game as soon as you can. I give Red Dead Redemption a 9/10. Expand

The open world consists of a large fictional United States territory modeled after Texas, Arizona, or New Mexico during the early 20th century. Cars are a new invention. You'll also venture into Mexico, which is connected by bridge(s) to the aforementioned fictional U.S. territories. There's a lot to do, and although it's a 360 game, the graphics are gorgeous. The world is extremely immersive, and you'll actually want to take a look around. I spent hours just roaming around the desert hunting, which is a good way to make money, incidentally. The main character is likable, and you'll actually want to see him succeed as the game progresses. The overall plot is very good as well.

The game does an excellent job at making you feel like you're in the Wild West. Rockstar made the game, so that's not surprising. This is basically Grand Theft Auto: Wild West. Like I stated earlier, there are cars in the game, but they're limited to a beginning cut-scene, and one mission where you man a mounted machine gun. Apart from that, your mode of transportation is a horse, the mechanics of which are quite good (better than the Witcher 3, in fact). The combat is good as well, however, if you've played any of the GTA series, you'll be largely accustomed to it.

As civilization begins to encroach on the Wild West reformed outlaw John Martson is threatened by federal Marshalls and forced to pick up his guns in order hunt down the gang of criminals he once called friends.
In terms of open world settings Rockstar have outdone even GTA IV for epic scale with the breathtaking, expansive and diverse landscape providing the perfect background for the games story to take place. Despite some slightly overly long journeys between destinations the player’s interest in the games narrative is easily maintained thanks to a set of characters that are also amongst Rockstars best.

In terms of gameplay Red Dead Redemption sticks pretty close to the now familiar template. Characters with missions that need completing can be seen on the in game map and once accessed further instructions are provided. While the primary focus is obviously on shooting there is a far greater variety in these missions than in the latest in the GTA series. The run, gun and cover system is virtually lifted straight from GTA IV including an auto-aim that can be switched off for those after a real challenge. This, along with a limited bullet time mechanic, is largely successful at allowing the player to feel like a hot shot gunslinger without making the game too easy.

On top of the single-player campaign a generous number of co-op and competitive multi-player modes are also available. After all the pre-launch hype it is disappointing to realise that these don't really compete with the best online shooters but they certainly provide an entertaining distraction from John Marston’s story.
With a charismatic lead character and hours of gameplay Red Dead Redemption is amongst Rockstars greatest achievements.

This is a video game. It is incredible.

It's gameplay is smooth and intrinsically engaging. You should probably already know what you're in for if you're looking at this review, so don't be surprised that it's a third person shooter with emphasis on the western aesthetic. You'll feel like a cowboy in this, and not the good 'ol western kind, either. It's like The Unforgiven meets... well, actually, its mostly like The Unforgiven. You're going to shoot your way through tons of mooks, and probably feel pretty bad ass whilst doing it.

However, I mention The Unforgiven because this game has an amazing storyline. I would even go into saying that the story, atmosphere, and characters of the game make it better than the gameplay itself. You can get bored of the gameplay after the solid 40+ hours you'll be asked to play it, but the story will be stuck with you long after the game isn't there. Go into the game because you want to play a game, but for the love of God, beat the game. You'll come away from it with a story.

I only dock a single point because it has, in the past at least, suffered from the rare glitch or bug. I might even excuse that, because I don't remember actually seeing anything bad during my playthrough.

BAD: In the downloadable version that I got, the multiplayer is broken and crashes immediately after I log on, if I log on; Most loading screens are long; After car racing(one-man carriage with a horse) on one mission, I couldn't do it as a side activity(pretty fun doing that); COULD NOT **** ANY OF THE ABUNDANT SUPPLY OF PROSTITUTES; Could not drive an automobile; Wish there was a whip in the game

FINAL VERDICT: Just alone with the single player, it earns a 9/10! This is my favorite Rockstar game and should be played by everybody. It's an ALL TIME LEGEND!

Red Dead Redemption does a perfect..not nearly perfect, but a perfect job at pulling the player into it’s western world.
Red Dead Redemption tells the story of John Marston a former western showdown gun slinging bad guy trying to redeem himself.
He does so by repaying life debts and hunting down a few old friends.
But you are given freedom in the way you handle things outside of the games 13 hour main campaign.
Outside of the story is where the beauty of this games immersion really starts to shine
Its clear to me now why so many systems from this game have been added to series like assassins creed and also why it works here and not for them.
Red Dead redemptions world is basically a giant desert, it’s pretty empty.. this can turn off a lot of players, It won’t and doesn’t surprise me at all to hear many find this game to be boring.. it can be, but isn’t really a run around and have fun kind of game…there are very few npcs roaming and inhabiting the world, but those that do all have a personality and a story to them.
As you travel throughout the world on horseback you’ll run into strangers asking for your help, all which is optional.
Some wanting help with getting a land deed, their wife, or are just in need of some materials that you can find organically in the open world.
All of which you can deal with in your own way, you can pay someone off or just kill them and take what you’re there for.
There is however an honor scale, you can get away with doing a few not so good things, but if you terrorize the world, the npcs will react to you in a bad manner.
Adding to the oraganicness, You can also pick flowers, herbs, and hunt and skin animals.
Hunting in Red Dead Redemption feels so right because the animals feel alive and real like all other npcs, they don’t feel like they are triggered or spawned into the world, they feel like they live there.
Everything down to the mechanics screams immersion.
The game asks for physical input in both running and controlling your horse.
You have to pay attention to the game, you can’t just hold a button and go, It definitely takes time to get used to such a system of immersive mechanics, but once you do you will greatly appreciate it.
Where the game does loose its spark at least for me is about 1/3 of the way through the main campaign. While the story really is great and the characters are brilliant, the mission design after the first 3rd of the game all plateaus.
At first you are doing immersive tasks like hurdling cows in a bad storm, going out to catch a wild horse, really bringing the world to life, but later in the game it gets massively boring and repetitive..
It turns into a lot of cover based follow the marker 3rd person shooter and ride shotgun while you take out the bandits following you over and over and over, luckily if you can manage to stick it out through this grindy section of the mexico part of the game, things start to pick up again for the final 3rd and missions will begin to feel varied just like before.
But the annoying npcs that accompany you on many missions constantly rushing you and never shutting up about how slow you’re going doesn’t make the campaign any more enjoyable.
But trust me, it’s worth it to make it to the end of this game.
There’s also a free roam multiplayer where you can join other players in the same open world from the single player game to take over gang hideout and earn some cash, unfortunately multiplayer these days is pretty nonexistent, so don’t expect to get too much out if unless you have dedicated friends to play with.
Red Dead Redemption is a beautiful and immersive game.
I found it to be relaxing, boring and grindy at times, but Escapism at its finest.

Red Dead Redemption is a great western themed open world game. It puts you in the cowboy boots of John Marston, a former outlaw who is now in trouble with previously associated gangs and government men, and is also trying to get back with his family. It seems a bit cliche at first, cuz it is, but it's not a bad thing because it takes a cliche setup and does cool things with it. To gain his "redemption" he meets interesting and memorable characters along the way, and asked to participate in assaults and movents and gets involved with different factions and there's some good plot twists and a few really sad moments. Even though John Marston is a little bit of an **** you still care about him and his motivations as he shows real emotion and is well written and performed. This game is made by the same people as GTA, so it takes heavy influence from the GTA games. It's an open world game where you do story missions, side missions, buy weapons and supplies from stores play mini games such as poker, and of course mess around and have chaotic fun in your own way. The open world is pretty big and surprisingly diverse. There's country side, a swampy forest areas, snowy mountains, and of course deserts. But each desert has a different tone to it, such as one that's Arizona like red while another is blaring white hot sand. You travel through the open world through riding horses all over the place which can get extremely boring at times, or fast travel by setting up a camp or paying for a carriage ride. The story missions can also get a bit repetitive. A lot of them just have you ride your horse to some place, shoot some guys that somebody doesn't like and that's it. But every now and then something refreshing happens such as raiding a fort or defending a train. The horse riding feels a bit weird at first but once you get the hang of it it works pretty well. The shooting works like a standard third person shooter. Rb take cover, lt to auto aim at an enemy, rt to shoot. But the cool thing about this game is dead eye, which allows you to slow down time and aim at specific parts of an enemy and it shoots for you. While his is fun, it's a bit overpowered and gives you an unfair advantage over the enemies at times. Which brings me to a problem I personally had with the game, but it may not bother everybody. This game is EXTREMELY easy. There is no difficulty setting, so I don't have an option to make the game more challenging if I want to. I know games these days are generally pretty easy, but can still be a little challenging every now and then, but this game is almost never challenging at all. But this May not bother everybody. One new thing this game adds is the fame and honor system. If you help random strangers and do jobs, you will gain honor and fame. But if you start shooting random people and stealing stuff, you will lose fame and honor and get a bounty on your head. In GTA if you did bad stuff you could simply wash your sins away by getting your car resprainted at pay n spray and the cops go away, so it's a nice change. This game also fixes a lot of the incredibly annoying problems that GTA IV didn't fix by adding the weapon wheel, less rag dolly physics, and a freaking mid mission checkpoint system so you don't have to start a mission all over again. All these improvements made their way into GTA V. In terms of graphics, while the game came out in 2010, it looks like it came out in 2013. They really are that freaking good. Every texture is super detailed and and it has an impressive draw distance where you can gorgeous vistas from clifftops. There are some glitches, but none of them are game breaking. There mainly just funny glitches that you tubers like to exploit for fun. The sounds effects are rather average. Gunshots sound like gunshots. Horses sound like horses. Footsteps sound like footsteps. But the voice acting is incredible as normal for a game made by Rockstar Games. The soundtrack is also very good, it sounds western the way it should. So if you like open world games, I'm not sure if this is a must have, but it's definitely worth checking out if you get the chance. After all it is super cheap nowadays. But if you want a good western cowboy game, then it's without a doubt a must have. There really aren't that many western games out there and it's awesome to see a reputable company like Rockstar to take the time and money to make one. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I might be a bit late to the party but Red Dead Redemption has probably become one of my all-time favorite games. The story is top notch with characters that flirt within a world of moral grey, there are characters that are characterized as more black and white good or bad but most of the characters are very morally grey with characters such as the main protagonist, John Marston a former outlaw and one of the last remaining embodiments of the old west myth who wants to escape his past for his family's sake but won't hesitate to threaten people in order to achieve his goals, or Abraham Reyes a revolutionary fighting for the freedom of the poor but as events unfold, it turns out he's just as bad as the man he's trying to usurp power from. A majority of the enjoyment of the story comes from the interactions with the numerous characters where they spout about topics such as politics, the government, the changing of the times (a theme that doesn't really get touched upon until John makes it to Blackwater) and the morality he tries to uphold despite his past as an outlaw. If there's one failing I find with the story is that it underdevelops it's villains somewhat. A lot of the horseback dialogue while riding to missions is used to reveal details about John's past with his gang led by Dutch Van der Linde and his other remaining living members, Javier Escuella and Bill Williamson but not many interactions take place between Bill and Javier with John but the limited ones that do occur, Rockstar makes sure to give them so much character that you can vividly imagine what life was like between all of them back when they were friends but I feel the game would've been better if they developed Bill and Javier more cause a majority of the game is about finding the remaining Van der Linde gang members and Dutch doesn't factor in until the last third of the game who gets the most in game development as to who he is as a character and why he does what he does outside of the in mission horseback dialogue. Enough about the story cause that still holds up extremely well, what about gameplay? The game still plays as good as ever but it has started to show it's age. RDR does play more as a Western-themed GTA without the ability to do all the ridiculous stuff that GTA is known for. RDR 2 has developed more of an identity outside of the western-themed GTA but RDR does hold more ties to GTA than RDR 2 does. The gunplay (which there is a lot of) feels solid but at times clunky, namely when you're aiming while riding your horse. When on foot, it feels solid but it does use a lock on feature when you take aim and sometimes transitioning from one target to the next can feel weird to do but the Dead-Eye feature does help in that regard somewhat. Horse riding feels very fast and smooth but maintaining momentum is difficult. It's a game that at its time of release, it helped to push the Rockstar open world model more towards a grounded less clunky style of movement and gameplay but the clunkiness is still there as evident from the early year RAGE engine stuff. Speaking of the RAGE engine, this game looks so much better than GTA IV and it still holds up pretty well in terms of modern standards. Since the old west setting doesn't contain many buildings and a lot more open space, the team at Rockstar were able to squeeze more detail out of the world and the character models although some of the character models do look dated now, namely the animations and the hair. Another thing the game does extremely well is the handling of the cinematic scenes. The camera is utilized much better but it's still very minimalistic in stuff like camera movements and framing but they do manage to pull off some really cool looking shots during the cutscene moments. All in all, Red Dead Redemption has gone down as one of the best games of the 7th generation and a game that still holds up extremely well compared to most games at the time. If you haven't played this already, play it. Expand

Also, after completing the main missions, you do a couple of side missions (Stranger missions are not that impressive), maybe the Legend of the West outfit and you'll see yourself bored, massacring Blackwater a hundred times

Of course I can't deny there is reasons why they are so good and popular, but making such wacky antics felt more of Saint's Row honestly. Bully was also one of those games too but I respected Rockstar more for trying to be different and still show their style all the same way. When Red Dead Redemption came around however I was very interested and in retrospect I see it as an important game and one of the best wild west styled games ever made.

Red Dead Redemption is an open world sandbox wild western shooter that has you playing as John Marston, a former outlaw put up by the gov't to hunt down his former comrades so he can get his family back and resume his life. The time is in 1911 and it's during the end of the Wild West age and the emergence of a new modern age, so it plays itself as a dark and grim end to one the most iconic American symbols in history. Unlike previous western games like Red Dead Revolver struggling to make mainstream and critical success in a modernized world, Redemption's emergence was something of a phenomenon that grew to be loved and acclaimed by many (myself included) for finally having a fun and wonderful moment of being a cowboy.

The single player is the main part of the game. The activities you do range from herding, horse breaking, hunting outlaws, poker, horsehoes and more really drives home the marriage of fantasy and grit the Wild West has on the modern minds. The story itself isn't outstanding, but it's very good at making John Marston a likable and memorable character that plays off the movies and shows that had Clint Eastwood and Dean Martin. Some would write off his character as simple but I'd argue that having simple characters add more mystique to them as long as the context of their character is intriguing and answers the main questions we ask while leaving the rest to our own thoughts. The ending and epilogue is one of the best gaming moments in any open world shooter I have ever played and the amount to do leading up to those moments can make you emotional as they happen. Criticisms of the story would be some mission design isn't that good and the combat can be a bit too easy. Money is practically useless and there is repetition in the side missions.

The multiplayer is a mixed bag. The co-op side is very fun with friends; riding as a posse and being outlaws is a jubilation of charm and fun that is goofy and yet badass. I loved running with strangers and friends into towns, stealing and being chased down by sheriffs in the sunset. You can level up your character and earn different character skins, weapons and more, but I found this to be pointless as it makes customization feel limiting and not as rewarding. The competitive shootout modes and such are cool ideas, but don't always flow well and I wasn't really impressed with it. It felt more like something tacked on then a well rounded mode. I felt if Rockstar had only made the game open world co-op instead and focused more on level design fitting around players than the experience would be far better. Still, despite my issues, I consider it to be one of my better multiplayer experiences in recent memory and I do respect the chances Rockstar took with them.

The combat and cover system screams the action of Wild Western Clint Eastwood films. The gun shots, explosions, clumping of horse hooves and intensity is wonderful and extremely satisfying. A bit iffy on cover control at times, but for what it's worth and what it brings to the table, I did not feel disappointed with it. The music is pretty dam good, with a Western feel mixed with a modern style, mirroring the times of the game's world. The graphics and atmosphere was amazing, with dynamic night and day cycles, weather, shadowing and more that gave the game a sense of realism. Of course being such a big game there is going to be technical problems, but through patches and time those issues were gone and my enjoyment for the game was in full force.

I spent over 60 hours in Red Dead Redemption and I loved it's world, characters and concept. It really feels like being a cowboy/outlaw of those old shows, but with a sense of identity and choice that solidifies itself as an important game for not only being different but also accomplishing a good deal in the process. While it does have issues under it's belt, Red Dead Redemption always was a great game to me as a teen and in retrospect as a adult one of the best open world games and open world stories of all time.

It's an amazing game. The story is amazing and gripping. The gameplay is stupendous. There's a lot to do and it's still fun even when their is nothing left to do except shoot at people. It's not perfect and has a few problems like the dullness of riding horses, but other than that its spectacular. Rating - 94%

Not without its own claims, such as the fact that the hunting animals here are only for sale, without the possibility of crafting. But nevertheless, I think this game deserves its high ratings. The most important flaw that I can write here is the torn and highly caricature presentation of the main story. Often I seemed to lose the "thread of the story". Expand

I just finished playing RDR for the second time in my life and I'm pleased to say that it holds up more than well. In fact, for a game that is now over 10 years old, it holds up so well that I am confident that it has cemented itself in video game history as a classic.

This was released at the time that Rockstar started to really refine game-play in all their titles. Once GTA IV was released, it was just a matter of slight tweaks here and there to make all future titles exceptional. And that really shows in the first Red Dead. Controlling John, house riding and gun-play is extremely intuitive, responsive and easy to pick up. This in turn makes the entire open world experience a delight and so much fun! Which I might add, this world has just the right amount of content that adds extra engagement without feeling bloated (which is rare in the genre these days).

The open world is fun, but also incredibly beautiful. I played on a Xbox Series X and the slight upressed graphics only slightly enhances what was already a stunning looking game. Additionally, I remember frame drops on the 360, which were completely gone as everything ran smooth from start to finish. But the Series X only touched things up as the art direction and design is what makes Red Dead a masterpiece. That also extends to the brilliant sound! Sure, the firing of guns, gallop of hooves and overall effects sewn into the journey are very impressive. But it is the score that ties the whole art design together. Each location is enhanced by the music and given a unique sense of atmosphere as you travel from one place to the next. Oh, also, there are some nice original licensed songs thrown in at just the right time for good measure.

After considering all that, how could this ever be a classic without a masterfully written story behind it. This also came at the time when Rockstar made the wise decision to hire 'no-name' actors for their roles. But they are actors that fit every colourful character perfectly all of which have some of the best dialogue in gaming to work with. The story itself is classic Rockstar, mixing parody with drama that remains a great formula for entertainment to this day. It is Johns journey itself that really wins it all. No matter how you chose to play, you will join John on a struggle to leave the outlaw life behind, while battling his very inner nature.

I could go on and on really as there is so much to love about this game. I played this again after RDR2 and adored how it organically felt like it rounded off John Marston's saga with Dutch and his gang. But that story is one piece that makes a complete package and that package will forever be a must have for any gamer's library.

The ability to slow down time and blow our a man's knee-caps or shoot a man in 10 different places before he hits the ground was all kinds of fun. The ending to this game be beautiful, heart warming and really enjoyable to play. The biggest issue I have with the game though is that after i beat it I lost all interest in playing it. They do allow you to keep going of course, but only the side quests remain and i beat the bulk of those as i went. Expand

Another great game from Rockstar. Red Dead Redemption is the first Western game to really make it work. This review is maybe a little bias as I have now played Far Cry and the Animals in Far Cry are better and there are more of them but this does not mark down the skill of the game.
The Characters are well voiced and the game has a good strong plot that does move along nicely. The horse annimation was very good and it did upset me loosing a horse I had for a long time.
The ending seemed a little rushed for me as you have a lot of missions between major plot moments early on, these seem to reduce as the game went on until it was almost only major plot driven missions towards the end. I did not venture much online with this title as with Rockstar they mainly focus on the campaign which is good.
If you are a GTA fan and also like Clint Eastwood westerns give this a look

  1. 'Red Dead Redemption' is a must buy. Every Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 owner should play this game (as long as they're over 18 and not a member of PETA). The only reasons I can't give this game a full 10 are the annoying glitches, connection issues and the lack of difficulty.

At times breathtaking, often awe-inspiring and never, ever dull, Red Dead Redemption is already one of 2010's biggest hitters, and is likely to become one of this generation's greatest achievements. A staggering work of art.

RDR is a phenomenal game that stands out as one of the year's best. The utmost attention to detail is apparent in every aspect, and is something that no gamer should miss.
