I didn't play the original in 2003 on PC / Ps2, and pick up this title to know it better: I thinks this is a good remake, although it don't have the same refinement as other recent remakes (Beyond Good and Evil, DMC Collection, SH Collection, etc.). The graphics style, and gameplay doesn't show many improvements, as the Critics Reviews says, it seems to be a 2000's game indeed. The game has many troubles with the camera and with the gameplay too... it seems clunky sometimes, and this could be improved. The general feel while playing this game, is the one of playing a old game in a PC emulator. Still it is a nice classic action-adventure game, on a 3D platform style, with a nice and funny story and diversified gameplay- I recommend to the ones who played the original (and miss it), or the ones who wanted to know a classic game (like me), but in either cases without many great expectations. Rayman 3 and Rayman 2 are complete classics, and this is a flawless game... for a 2003 game. The camera is extremely clumsy and might even get you killed, all the "new features" are kinda meeh. This is worth buying if you loved this game back in the PS2 days

As one would expect the change in console generations has allowed for new additions such as achievements and leaderboards. There are some omissions in the form or the original's intro and the "Wanna Kick Rayman" bonus videos, but they don't make this 360 port a lesser version of the game.

The gameplay takes a much more linear approach than most 3D platformers. Rather than throwing you into open areas where the goal is to collect everything in sight, Rayman 3 breaks the experience up into more traditional levels. It allows for a more action-oriented approach. Levels are still littered with gems so the genres collect-a-thon nature is still present. The well-crafted boss battles, regular enemy encounters, and platforming challenges allow for some occasionally tricky segments that can push you further than you were expecting without ever really becoming too difficult. The well spaced out mini-game diversions do a great job of providing breaks from the main gameplay segments. I do think that the "Funkyboard" levels go on for a little too long, mostly due to their stiff controls, but I appreciated their funk soundtracks.

The music in the game is a treat to the ears and very memorable. The dialog not so much. The game tries to have a self-aware, sarcastic tone but is never as funny as it thinks it is. Oddly enough there are some sound design issues that will actually prevent you from hearing most of it's jokes. The characters can rarely be heard over the levels themselves even with some adjustments being made in the options menu. Graphically you can tell this is a game from the previous console generation. Bumping the game up to 60 frames per second, in up to 720p has made it easier on the eyes, but just know Ubisoft didn't go the full remaster route. The colorful and sometimes outright magical level designs themselves can still leave you gawking regardless.

Amassing as many points as possible throughout the game will open up bonus levels and the achievements themselves will extend the life of the game as they will require you to find everything and perform at your very best. Rayman 3 is still a worthwhile 3D platformer after all these years. Even in the face of the occasional difficulty spikes with a boss or two, the hardest thing to deal with is the camera which can sometimes obscure your view, make it difficult to lock on to a target, and has a tendency to hung on the geometry. Yet it plays well and features some very creative level design. It's imaginative world and goofy sense of humor reminded me of the Oddworld series, only not as dark. Something that makes it perfect for all ages.

I remember when I play the original, on XBOX, and wow, the game is a classic. And when I watch Rayman 3 HD I'm feeling happy. This new version is same like the original, the only different is the HD, but if I can play again this classic, I'm feeling happy.

Absolutely great game. Great bosses, minigames and music. The graphics aren't amazing obviously but the art direction is great. Really really fun, a true classic. I prefer the original over the remake though.

    Rayman 3 HD
    From fun to frustrating
Rayman 3 HD is an 8 hour long 3D platformer and revamped version of 2003’s Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc where you set out to stop these hoodlum punks running around the forest.. We all have nostalgia of 3d platformers, but Rayman 3D is a reminder that this genre wasn’t as great as we remember them being…
Rayman 3 comes from a time where frustrating equaled fun…
that isn’t the case throughout the entiriety of this game.. but it rings true for the ultimate delivery…
the first half of this game is very casual and fun..
I was surprised how much I was enjoying this 15 year old game, collecting gems to unlock bonus levels, progressing through the levels with the different powers the game gives you, that all really bring you back, you have some tordano power, a fist power, a rocket power, and a flying power..
these are for the most part used in great ways to keep the gameplay fresh through your 8 hour journey..
a lotr of the times youll have to defea enenemies for them to drop this power that you need to progress…
at first its really hard to die in this game..
I was relieved thinking okay not every 3d platformer was some annoying obstacle to overcome…
and then the game throws in annoying enemies that fly around and feel impossible to hit, dodging all of your attacks, and then I die trying to defeat them..
In a modern game no big deal… ill start at the beginning of the room and try again..
    That isn’t the case here…
The checkpoint system in this game is absolute garbage…
I died twice in this spot befgore I figured the enemy out and I had tio start from the beginning of the chapter each time… running through the same areas, recollecting the gems, re fighting the enemies in between that spot, redoing the simple yet tedious environmental puzzle…
and moments like this show up a lot in this game… dying in a boss battle will sometimes make you have to go through a series of platforming to get back into the room to give It another try..
and the final boss is just a bunch of cheap pultiple stage garbage… the 2nf to last stage youre not only fighting the boss but youre fighting the camera and draw distance as platforms are loading back in as you fall trying to cimb to the top, taking damage… and getting to this point in the fight was frustrating enough.. but if you fall, its game over and you have to redo the 2 stages before it…
theres just so much awful dated feeling delivery here during a itme where autosaving and checkpoints weren’t really a thing yet and it really makes the final stretch of the game feel hard to enjoy.. especially since it does that thing all platformers do where everything was fun and colorful, but not its all dark and lava, and ugly, full of steam, all mixed in a soup of unfun anxiety with credits at the bottom of the bowl.
I still do believe this game is worth playing through..
its has its moments of fun, decent level design, a great feeling of discovery and exploration.. it just would’ve been so much better with modern staples and a respect of the players time and effort,
    I give Raman 3 HD

While the aesthetics are nice, and the humour is lovely at times, the game suffers tremendously due to the atrocious camera and hard to control combat. If you are a fan of Rayman or love the early 2000 style of 3D platforming, you can give it a try. The rest of us might well find the game somewhat underwhelming.

The game has a very light hearted tone and the platforming is fine enough. At the start of the game I was kinda afraid I would get lost, but on one occasion when I didn’t know where to go this hasn’t happened. The power ups are okay, but are used very sparingly for puzzles that aren’t that cleverly designed. It very often boils down to “lower this platform here, defeat the guy there so you get the next power up which you’ll use for getting to the upper ground. There’s a point system, which I don’t care about.

This game does very heavily focus on the battle mechanics. Foes are varied and the general guy requires three hits to make them go away. You’ll need to focus on them and then you get the ability to give them rights and lefts hits. You can technically also hit them from the front, but most foes will be able to defend themselves from such attacks. This does make for a very engaging fighting mechanics.
What kind of makes this a downer, is that next to fighting the foes you’re also fighting the camera. While during platforming the camera usually isn’t that much of a problem (unless they take control away for some reason), during fighting it makes it really difficult to consistently focus on foes. This is especially frustrating when you’ll have to deal with multiple foes. This problem does get worse the further you go.

The presentation is really good. Graphically speaking, the game looks really nice. It’s very colourful, the areas are very varied, the foes look really villainess and Rayman itself communicates his movements really effectively.

The later worlds do start giving really fun platform challenges, while the combat becomes more bothersome. You’ll move through tight corridors which means a lot of fighting with the camera.

This one was really fun! Loved the aesthetic, and it had great controls, however, it's far from the best Rayman game out there, and the humor, and cutscenes weren't that great. But this game is really creative and fun regardless. Pretty Good!

Rayman 3 isn't a lacking experience because Ubisoft botched the HD conversion, but because the original is simply one of the weakest chapters of the series.
