Rango is one of those rare movie games that is actually good. Actually it's fantastic! It also doesn't require you to have seen the film or know anything about these characters. Rango is just as charming as Gex or Abe (from Oddworld) and he stars in one of the best action-platformers of this generation. If you have kids or just want to feel like one for a couple days, Rango is a must-own title.

Rango deserved an A but on the other hand, at only four hours it is a far cry from acceptable for a game that is $50.

Even if Hollywood never produces another Rango movie, we want a sequel to the game. [May 2011, p.77]

Overall, Rango for the Xbox 360 is one of the better, if not the best, movie based titles released this year. Whether it be platforming sequences, frantic third person shooter chaos, simple puzzle solving elements or stealth sequences where you are avoiding detection, Rango is an entertaining game for young and older fans of the tiny chameleon. While the lack of a cooperative mode and some wonky camera controls are disappointments, the overall Rango package is still very good and is a must buy for those who enjoyed the movie.

Rango is yet another solid licensed game that obviously had some time and thought put into it.

With Rango, a lot more could've been done in terms of multiplayer (c'mon, ostrich races!) and getting the film's voice talent to contribute. As it stands, however, it's a better-than-most film-to-game adaptation, backed by a strong story, mostly fun gameplay, some inventive ideas and good-looking visuals.

Ultimately, Rango's another example of how to do a licensed property justice. Rather than simply rehash the movie's story, EA and Paramount are giving players a new adventure to experience. It's a little on the short side – and even then it starts to get repetitive near the end – but it's definitely one of the better tie-ins I've played over the years.

This is a great family title if you are a parent who is concerned about some of the more violent titles on the market. If you are a fan of the film (or have kids that are) be sure to give this game a shot.

I especially loved the section where your hitting golf balls into Giant Lars face!
