Apr 25, 2011Rango is one of those rare movie games that is actually good. Actually it's fantastic! It also doesn't require you to have seen the film or know anything about these characters. Rango is just as charming as Gex or Abe (from Oddworld) and he stars in one of the best action-platformers of this generation. If you have kids or just want to feel like one for a couple days, Rango is a must-own title.
-
Mar 14, 2011Rango deserved an A but on the other hand, at only four hours it is a far cry from acceptable for a game that is $50.
-
Apr 9, 2011Even if Hollywood never produces another Rango movie, we want a sequel to the game. [May 2011, p.77]

Mar 11, 2011Overall, Rango for the Xbox 360 is one of the better, if not the best, movie based titles released this year. Whether it be platforming sequences, frantic third person shooter chaos, simple puzzle solving elements or stealth sequences where you are avoiding detection, Rango is an entertaining game for young and older fans of the tiny chameleon. While the lack of a cooperative mode and some wonky camera controls are disappointments, the overall Rango package is still very good and is a must buy for those who enjoyed the movie.
-
Mar 19, 2011Rango is yet another solid licensed game that obviously had some time and thought put into it.
-
Mar 16, 2011With Rango, a lot more could've been done in terms of multiplayer (c'mon, ostrich races!) and getting the film's voice talent to contribute. As it stands, however, it's a better-than-most film-to-game adaptation, backed by a strong story, mostly fun gameplay, some inventive ideas and good-looking visuals.
-
Mar 14, 2011Ultimately, Rango's another example of how to do a licensed property justice. Rather than simply rehash the movie's story, EA and Paramount are giving players a new adventure to experience. It's a little on the short side – and even then it starts to get repetitive near the end – but it's definitely one of the better tie-ins I've played over the years.
-
Mar 11, 2011This is a great family title if you are a parent who is concerned about some of the more violent titles on the market. If you are a fan of the film (or have kids that are) be sure to give this game a shot.
-
Apr 11, 2011Despite the short length and lack of overall difficulty, Rango is a good game.
-
Mar 9, 2011It is difficult to find a movie-based game that is really good, and Rango almost achieves it. It doesn't bring anything especially new, but overall offers a varied and entertaining adventure.
-
Mar 21, 2011Rango is definitely not a bad game and is much more entertaining than previous movie titles such as How To Train Your Dragon and Monsters Vs Aliens. For $50, the price is a little high but could make for a great weekend rental for your young one (and a free child's movie ticket to see the movie comes with purchase of the game).
-
Mar 18, 2011Clearly, the game is designed for younger players in mind (although that seems somewhat at odds with the older crowds that Rango is attracting in the theaters). The game is just a scant five hours long and the lack of extra gameplay modes drags the game's replay value down considerably.
-
Mar 16, 2011Rango isn't a revolutionary action-platform release, but it is a legitimately well-made title built in the mold of the some of the genre's best, and it genuinely engaged us throughout much of the adventure. Sadly, it doesn't last for long.
-
Mar 8, 2011A surprisingly decent movie tie-in well suited for younger players. Not very challenging, original or unique, but still fun and easily accessible. And actually a completely new story with the cool cowboy.
-
Mar 4, 2011An oddball attitude, some decent variety, and a dip into the surreal spice up Rango's otherwise tame action.
-
Games Master UKMay 8, 2011It's really rather good. [June 2011, p.89]
-
Mar 21, 2011Rango is a perfectly pleasant and enjoyable game that replicates the animated movie's style brilliantly. Younglings will love it to bits and won't notice its shortcomings or the fact that some of its voices sound ever-so-slightly off. Nor will they care that it's all over in the blink of an eye and there's no reason whatsoever to play it again ever.
-
Mar 14, 2011It doesn't skimp on the imagination or level design, and while it might feel a little patronising to some in terms of constantly telling you what buttons to press, it still offers some very enjoyable fun.
-
Mar 14, 2011In terms of controls, fun, and general wackiness, Rango reminded me of the old Spyro the Dragon games, except not as refined. It's a sub-Spyro game, but again, for a game that was based off a movie, it is quite good.
-
Mar 9, 2011It's very traditional, very solid and in gameplay terms doesn't offer anything new to the genre. Behaviour have, as mentioned, attempted to keep things fresh, but there's only so much they could do if their remit was to create a generic platformer.

Official Xbox Magazine UKApr 16, 2011Imperfect but surprisingly pleasant. [May 2011, p.103]
-
X-ONE Magazine UKMar 30, 2011Trust us - you'll know when you've been Rango'd. [Issue#70, p.91]
-
Mar 26, 2011The level design, added mini-games, and continuous action make the campaign surprisingly entertaining.
-
Mar 14, 2011Too shallow, too easy, too short. Yep, it's another movie tie-in that fails to engage.
-
Mar 21, 2011Pretty, vacant. How 18 months' development could result in a game so trite is beyond us. [May 2011, p.101]
