I've played a lot of Lego games and this is one of the best. Been playing it for quite a while now so feel I can make a descent judgement on it. Firstly I'm finding the graphics the best yet. They've adding some great new features like the mining and buddy up skill. The only thing against it is that it doesn't include the 3rd film which is odd. It's still a complete game withI've played a lot of Lego games and this is one of the best. Been playing it for quite a while now so feel I can make a descent judgement on it. This is a great game. Has the same quality as Lego lotr and marvel. Expand

    Best Lego game yet.

As adventure games are my favourite, Lego LOTR had stood out as the best in the series for me. A huge overworld to explore with absolutely tons to do. Not to mention the fact that the game was absolutely beautiful. Story and character wise I prefer the Hobbit, which gave this game a bit of a head start. But T.T. have gone a step further and given this game even more

But T.T. have gone a step further and given this game even more reasons to put it out in front.
Whilst the game only covers the first two movies, make no mistake, it is huge. The over world is easily as big as that in LOTR, but has greater depth. For example, this time rather than burning some vines to get a white brick, you would instead open access to a cave, in which there would be another puzzle.
There is an immense amount of abilities and items, unfortunately T.T. decide to tell you exactly which one to use at each puzzle and turning hints off doesn't appear to prevent this. It would be nice if instead they gave us clear descriptions of what all the abilities/items do and let us turn off hints completely.
Thankfully there are numerous puzzles that are not simply solved with abilities and these tend to have riddles as clues (albeit simple ones).
Another thing to note, in LOTR the next section of the map would be blocked by the next level. This is not always the case in Hobbit. Often the path will be blocked by something like rubble which requires an explosive or another obstacle requiring a particular ability. This slight change in dynamic adds to the sense of freedom.
The collection of loot is never a chore, I enjoyed collecting it as I went along and it gave me more incentive to explore both in the overworld and in levels after achieving 'master burglar'.
The game is absolutely beautiful and seems somehow smoother than LOTR. Perhaps running at a higher frame rate. The music is great as you'd expect and there is voice work exclusive to the game.
Overall this is my favourite Lego game and one of my absolute favourite games of the last generation.

The LEGO formula may be finally getting a bit stagnant, and the new additions, while cool, may be too little, too late. If the final section had been included at retail, I'm not sure my opinion would have swayed much more in either direction, but it certainly is noticeable in it's omission.

Lego The Hobbit is a handsome game, but it's also proof that the formula Traveller's Tales employs for most of its Lego titles simply doesn't work for everything it adapts.

Yet again TT Games offers a superb title, packed with much content and simply an extremely enjoyable Lego game.
