Unless your soul bleeds Mjolnir, or the Church of Halo-tology demands you play it on pain of death, give Halo: Spartan Assault a pass. There's more fun to be had in one minute of any other Halo game than there is in all of Halo: Spartan Assault.

Much like Halo Wars before it, this game fills in some of the gaps in the Halo story while experimenting with a new gameplay style. While HaloMuch like Halo Wars before it, this game fills in some of the gaps in the Halo story while experimenting with a new gameplay style. While Halo Wars was a RTS, this is a twin-stick shooter, and a darn good one at that. It feels like a steal for just $9.99. It's selection of missions are a touch on the short side, but the high replay value makes up for it. The story is pretty good, and gives us a look at some of the things that took place in between Halo 3 & 4. It's just a shame that it isn't presented in the best way. Outside of a few cutscenes, the story is told through descriptions on the mission select screen. That means that some gamers might end up overlooking these story segments by mistaking them as a simple level description. Still, it's only a minor flaw. The game takes many elements from the Halo series and applies them to a new type of gameplay, all the while capturing the feeling of the expected FPS entries in the series. This fact alone means that this worth a look for any Halo fan. It also helps that it is so fairly priced and is just a heck of a lot of fun to play. Full Review »

+ 1 for adding to the Halo storyline, but honestly, this game is bad. The only redeeming feature is that the UI of the menus feels like you're+ 1 for adding to the Halo storyline, but honestly, this game is bad. The only redeeming feature is that the UI of the menus feels like you're using a dataslate. Otherwise this game is terrible. It really is only a cash grab with the micro sales, which themselves really anger gamers alone. Until companies realize micro sales push customers away, they can enjoy the negative reviews.
