With a killer track list, exciting new Quest mode, social networking, and more challenges and star rewards than most of us could ever earn in this lifetime, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is easily the biggest and the best installment of the franchise to date.
-
A quest mode that is fun and interesting, diverse set lists, and the inclusion of new power abilities will definitely find a special place with fans of the series.
-
This is the best Guitar Hero title to date and it returns to the formula that worked so well for Guitar Hero III. The storyline differentiates it from the competition and its over-the-top heavy metal look and feel work for it quite well.
-
Still the game re-ignited my love for the genre and I have already shredded far more hours into this one than I had planned to invest.
-
Neversoft was able to renovate GH mechanics with a few good ideas which push Warriors of Rock lifespan into the stratosphere. Right after the first few hours you may realize that the core mechanics are almost the same, but still this is one of the most fun and accomplished episodes in the saga.
-
Oct 22, 2010Although it is not forgiving with those not going to devote themselves to the cause of saving the god of rock, this Guitar Hero may save the franchise from decline.
-
Official Xbox MagazineWhether you're playing with buddies online or in the same room, or just battling through the career, this extremely polished sequel is an excellent way to rock out. [Nov 2010, p.66]
-
Better than expected, the new Guitar Hero offers a great rock/metal tracklist (2112 from Rush will be long remembered). It's a great return to the roots of the saga, yet it lacks some true innovation, which we'll be seriously expecting for in the next future.
-
In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock and the minor tweaks in the game definitely makes it a fun experience. The quest mode is a blast to play and with its mythological heavy metal inspired story, it's definitely a great incentive to get players to finish the title.
-
If you're looking for the next great leap forward, then sit tight and wait for Rock Band 3 with its new keyboard peripheral and Pro mode. However, if you're looking for a fun new twist on familiar mechanics, then there's absolutely nothing wrong with Warriors of Rock - if you can get past the fact that you have to play Nickelback.
-
Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock confirms all its precursor qualities and features, introducing a very enjoyable story mode and offering a great tracklist.
-
Warriors of Rock satisfies with a mostly rousing list of songs, still-addictive-as-ever gameplay and plenty of options for both solo players and groups. The only question now is what's left to do for the next time around.
-
Warriors of Rock offers a great rock/metal tracklist to Guitar Hero fans. The inclusion of new power abilities and new gameplay styles are a great return to the roots of the saga.
-
In any event, overall Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is a good game; yet at the end of the day it is more of the 'same old.'
-
Jan 12, 2011With any music, the tracks included are what can make or break a game and those featured in Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock really bring out the best, and whilst the new approach taken by Activision and Neversoft doesn't really change the core gameplay much. The music helps make this one of the most compelling Guitar Hero games to date.
-
Oct 25, 2010While the game doesn't bring anything especially exciting or new to the franchise, it's still a really great Guitar Hero game to play.
-
So if you've been pleased with the series so far and love the latest set list, you're going to have a blast with Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. But for everyone else who hasn't been completely sold on the Guitar Hero franchise, there's nothing going on here that's going to change your mind.
-
Overall, I liked the new direction of the franchise. Don't fool yourself though, this is still Guitar Hero, through and through.
-
Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is often stupid and frequently silly, but I got caught up in shredding my way through the ridiculous experience. It doesn't matter if I was laughing with the game or laughing at it; I was entertained.
-
Elsewhere, the full offering of Guitar Hero 5's multiplayer and party play modes return, as do the addictive mini-challenges for each track (there's even a challenge which uses the Quest powers).
-
Better than perhaps expected, Warriors of Rock offers a great setlist, a nicely corny story mode and a smooth quickplay mode.
-
Rock - It's all about it. The latest chapter on Activision's franchise if one of its best so far, with a huge tracklist and plenty of new gameplay styles. Plus, we have a better graphic interface, tutorials, tons of multiplayer options... It's quite everything a die-hard could expect, only it doesn't change anything musically speaking.
-
Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is a new beginning for this franchise. After years of casual tracklists without any sign of the good, old, rock, Guitar Hero is once again funny and addictive. Play it and love it.
-
The gamiest music game to date by some distance, it'll probably put the 'casuals' off.
-
Games Master UKDec 25, 2010A much-needed change of tack which brings something new-ish to the floundering series. [Issue#231, p.92]
-
The play modes don't introduce anything broadly new, and the quest mode hasn't been executed to its full potential. However, it's still a decent addition to the collection, and the singleplayer and band modes work seamlessly.
-
It features a great songlist, many options in terms of multiplayer and battles to the death. Unfortunately, only the guitar is worth playing – the other instruments haven't been implemented so in such a sophisticated way.
-
Jan 12, 2011If you're still a fan of music games, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is another good, solid entry into the series. However, while Neversoft is in a position of releasing serviceable titles every year, but don't seem capable of making real fundamental changes to how the game is played.
-
Jan 12, 2011Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is a very strong attempt to do something different. With the many, many Guitar Hero games that have come out recently, this is a pretty good thing. And yet, even with all the differences, it still feels like the same old hat. Perhaps a huge fan of the series would get more enjoyment from yet another game where they can strum along to some of their favourite songs, but for others, it may just be more of the same.
-
It doesn't break any new ground, it just offers up a solid, fun, and still addicting package. If you're a long time fan, Warriors of Rock is a no brainer. If you're a newcomer, just be aware of what you're getting into.
-
Of course with all the features already being touted about for Rock Band 3 this year it's hard to think of Warriors of Rock as a really progressive entry into the genre, but I think there's enough fun to be had with the on disc content to make it worth a look for everyone that already generally enjoys these types of games.
-
New features aren't much more than reverb on this familiar riff, but Guitar Hero still rocks.
-
A decent set list of guitar-driven tunes, as well as many of the solid holdover features from the last game, amount to negligible compensation for the lack of meaningful additions.
-
Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is a great game that introduces some new features. People that love rock music will love this game but most people will find that there isn't enough innovation.
-
Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock laughs in the face of innovation and new ideas, and delivers what it does best, the very formula it invented, perfected, and sold to the masses. The only problem is, we've seen it all before, and some gamers may indeed be looking for fresh ideas and a lot more progression, especially with Rock Band 3 and others on the horizon, and you wonder just how much longer Guitar Hero can last in its present unchanged form.
