For me to give something a 10 is a pretty big deal, I don't throw them around. But this game is addictive, immersing, clever, beautiful and huge. The main story is a little brief but with what feels like a thousand side missions it makes it feel so much bigger. The addition of Catwoman is great, she is unique and has her own little story. Though this is where my only gripe with the game is. She feels a little bit tagged on, her story is way too short, she has no gadgets worth anything except her whip. Her combat though is way smoother and faster than Batman's which makes her combat enjoyable. Her stealth element is so frustrating at times, so in respect to Catwoman more of her in every way.

But Batman is perfected, he is better than ever and considering this is Batman's story all credit goes to the game for making Batman so perfect. Now I'm gonna go glide around the city, as I have perfected how to do it and its so much fun!

After playing Arkham Asylum, I had high expectations for Arkham City. All were met as Arkham City is better than its predecessor in all ways. First off, flying is amazing! When you pull up, that speed is transferred into forward momentum. After getting the grapnel boost upgrade, experienced flyers can fly indefinitely. The story? It's full of twist, turns, and not to mention cameos from Batman's old friends. Catwoman is playable, however she doesn't steal the show. My only issue is that if you buy B:AC used, you have to pony up $10 to play as her. She has her own arsenal of weapons, and is definitely fun to play as. The story is fairly short, but not only is there a new game +, there's a whole lot of side missions! Most are easy, but the Riddler's side mission will take quite a while. Not only are there 400 trophies/challenges, but he has 5 hostages hidden all over Arkham for you to save. Once you finish that, there are a multitude of "campaigns" to play through (Essentially the challenge maps from AA). A must buy, as well as a GOTY contender. Keep it up Rocksteady! Expand

This game is definately worthy of a 10/10 it is how a game should be, the pc version plays extremely well with a gamepad but it is still just as enjoyable with a keyboard and mouse, even if you are not into super heroes (like myself) it is still a must buy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the best Super Hero games of all time gets an even better sequel. Batman: Arkham City had a lot of hype to live up to and it delivers big time. The story is not only excellent but it is one of the best Batman stories told and that includes the comics. The voice acting once again is superb thanks to the great cast of actors including Mark Hamill (Joker) and Kevin Conroy (Batman). Graphically the game is refined over its predecessor and Arkham Asylum was a great looking game. The musical score is fantastic as it transitions between a light moody track to an intense orchestral piece flawlessly and at the right moments. Now the most important thing about a game is the game play and Arkham City takes an already intuitive combat system and adds more to it. Chaining combos and using gadgets has never felt so satisfying and perfect. There's nothing like taking on a dozen enemies and being able to handle them without a single problem only to finish them off with a takedown. But that's not the only thing that is great about the gameplay. Gliding around the immense city is handled in a way that it feels natural. Being able to move swiftly and engage in combat as well as puzzles is both fun and it makes you feel like The Dark Knight himself. Arkham City also gives you the Ability to play as Catwoman. She is playable for a few missions during the main story and she has her own challenge mode. Now this is probably the only complain I might have against the game but after moving around the city with Batman, Catwoman feels somewhat limited and it makes for some weird things that you didn't want. One example was when I was trying to solve a puzzle but due to her limited mobility I ended up landing on top of a building with armed guards who in return shot me to death. But as limited as her movements are while moving around the city her combat is still very good, even though she has less gadgets than Batman she can still hold her own against any number of enemies. Overall Batman: Arkham City is not only a fantastic game but one of the best of the year. Rocksteady set out to outdo themselves over Arkhan Asylum and they accomplished it brilliantly. Where Rocksteady and Batman go from here is not yet clear but now they have an even bigger challenge ahead and if they show the same passion and care they did with Arkham City I'm sure they will be successful. It can be hard to top a previous game that became such a mega hit, especially on a franchise that has never produced a "good game." But dear God they did it! I will warn you, just like Assassin's Creed, this game does suffer from "collect-too-many-ingame-items-itus" (to the point that it wants you to collect over 400 trophies to continue an optional story line). But if you're into that kind of game mechanic to lengthen your gameplay, then by all means, play on! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman: Arkham City is one of the best, if not the best, video games of 2011 and probably one of the top games ever. Arkham City continues the story (and success) of Batman: Arkham Asylum, with the Mayor creating an Arkham City for the biggest criminals of Gotham City. Seeing villains like the Joker, Doctor Strange, Mr. Freeze (who possesses one of the best boss fights ever!), Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Penguin, and Ra's al Ghul was really fun, though I would have liked it if some of the villains to have a little more screen time (i.e. Two-Face, Mad-Hatter, etc.). Catwoman as a playable character (as well as Robin and Nightwing in DLC) was a really good addition for the game as she possesses a unique set of moves. The gameplay is smoother than ever as gaining combos is easier as you can continue combos even when you counter. The stealth gameplay is even better than before as with the new items and the upgrades you have gained. The collectables and challenges have increased in quantity, thus making this game bigger than Asylum. Overall, this was a great game that improves pretty much everything from the first game. Expand

I have never played an open world, or sandbox, game like it. The visuals and voice acting is unparalleled (mark hamill as joker, and he's amazing? are u kidding me?!!?), the flying around, grappling, was amazing, and once you get the hang of it is fun in and of itself. However, to me the golden goose of the game, besides the Dark Knight himself, is the combat. And by combat, I don't just mean combat style, but the weapons and tools you get to work with in these combats, not to mention the interesting combos and perks earned. I LOVE the combat style. What some have called button mashing is actually a free flow artistic dance that rewards you for timing of your hits and counters more than anything, I can say that anyone saying the combat is too simplistic would be saying that it is too difficult to master had it been a little more developed. Now, getting to my two points that i havent seen made that clearly need to be: 1. DO NOT, as a casual gamer or otherwise, play Asylum after playing City and think that it will be a similarly entertaining experience, because unfortunately it won't be, at all. If i were to give Asylum a grade, it would be lower than it's worth for the sole reason that I am comparing it to City, and that isn't right at all, it is the sequel's job to improve on the predecessor. I am saddened by the fact that because of what I played first Asylum felt like a completely watered down version of City. (It amazes me what was upgraded, polished, and refined in less than two years! I'm sorry, but anyone saying they are in the same league are almost as crazy as those saying that Asylum was better) and 2. COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE DLC PACKS: dlc's are almost single handedly ruining the gaming experience. We know this. It's bad enough we pay 60 dollars a game......but they are leaving things out of games now just to get more money from us, and that is every game, and we as gamers need to do the only thing we can do: stop buying games we are completely unsure of enjoying or wanting. DLC needs to stop, or made into gifts given as u get better or go farther in games. HAVING SAID THAT: this is not a game where complaints can be made concerning dlc!!!! Why? because the game is the best I've ever played even without a single DLC, and the game is not hampered at all by not having a DLC, and it is in this exact game that i say 'bring on the DLC for more and more fun at a price thats deserving! Any other game I would say stop making DLC and use that time and money to make better games, better consoles, and better UI.
Summary: Arkham City is the best game of the year, but do yourself a favor if you haven't played either and play Asylum first, you will probably love and appreciate both.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Not being a huge fan of Batman, but having watched all movies many times it is difficult not expect something from a game in Batman universe. "Arkham Asylum" provides us with an introduction that amazes right from the first minutes till the credits. "Asylum" was solid game and perfect in many ways, but it is "City" that may have a title of masterpiece.
The game starts with gang's riot in Gotham and Bruce Wayne, without mask, wearing business costume and not regular Batman suit, being carried by Penguin's gang members.
You won't wait long till the first fight starts and protagonist puts his mask on to explore Gotham. There is main storyline that includes conflicts with Joker, Harley, Riddler, Two-Face, Penguin, Freeze and many others. Commissar Gordon, Oracle, Catwoman and Robin will be on our side during the game. Basically, all characters whom I remember in Batman universe appear in "Arkham City", and I couldn't be any happier about the cast.
Gameplay introduces some new features that you will get used to very quickly. There is much to do and explore in Gotham and Riddler puzzles return to add some headache :)
Playing as Catwoman gives much satisfaction as it gives a feeling, that Catwoman herself would made a good character in her personal game (not a movie though).
Good music, perfect level design, hilarious acting, addictive gameplay just won't disappoint anyone.
Game marker gave me pain in "Asylum", in "City" I remember puzzlement when having explored one tower I could not figure out how to get in. It does not make the game worse, but in inevitable sequel I wish there will be some work done on it.
My favourite game moment while placing a gel on a wall to explode, the wall gets broken by Bane from the other side, I'm sure that any gamer would jump in surprise.
Talking about sequel I just can't imagine how a game in Batman's universe can be any better than "Arkham City", I hope I am wrong

I was totally blown away when I played Batman Arkham City. I thought Arkham Asylum was great, but City is way better in many ways. The combat system which made the success of AA is back and is better than ever with new gadgets and more possibilities for combos. Good story.. Nice gameplay... Is it better than the original. I believe so.. But many people disagree. Either way you are going to love it... DLCs are good too and from time to time they are on sale on xbox live. I bought everything for less than 10 euros.

this game is pretty much the same from the first game (batman arkham asylum), the only difference is that this game is all the greater good, all systems were improved and the game has a better story, it is enough to give a perfect score the batman arkham city.

As a raging bat-fanatic, Batman: Arkham City is everything I could've hoped for. Intense, fluid combat. A menagerie of some great villains. The best story I've seen in a superhero videogame. And an open world that's full of secrets to find. A must play.

I don't care how small the map is. The game is amazing. Beautiful Robotics, smart NPC's, a strong story, they made the character unforgettable (Especially The Joker) the combat is the best I've seen in a Super hero game. This game is a must have. Don't listen to the 125 dumbasses, who are giving this game low scores. They just wanted a big open world. Gameplay is what matters.

Batman is one of the most well-known and superheroes ever created, and until Arkham Asylum, hadn't been portrayed in a video game properly. Arkham City does everything Asylum did, but bigger and better. The story, characters, gameplay, everything is just superb in this game. Gliding and grappling is fluent, and you just feel like you should as batman.

Amazing game. I'm so excited for Arkham Knight. Honestly, it's not exactly my type of game, but it still caught my breath. After the story, there isn't much to do, honestly, but the campaign is great. Awesome storyline too. It's interesting how the amount of time taken to beat the game is about how long it is in the game.

The replay value is huge, the open world is fun to explore, the story is interesting and compelling, the boss fights are innovative, the combat is even better, with even more moves and ways to approach a battle. (Do note that I do not own the PC version of this game, but rather the xbox 360 version. I decided to write this review anyway considering the few differences there are between the versions are minute, and also this is simply one of the best games I have ever played.)

Batman: Arkham City is a great game in every sense of the word. The game is immersive, and pulls you in for hours on end. The atmosphere is spot-on to the lore, and gives a vibe reminiscent of comics such as “The Long Halloween” “Hush” or “The Black Mirror”. The story is well done as well, with talented voice actors giving respectable portrayals of the Caped Crusader’s greatest allies and enemies. The huge map is realized with staggering attention to detail, and is even more breathtaking, I assume, on the PC version. Everything you loved about Arkham Asylum remains intact, the Empowering combat, the Adrenaline pumping stealth sections, the multitude of fantastic Villains who eagerly await their next “Bat-Beating”. However nearly every aspect of the game is significantly improved over AA. There are considerably more enemy types in combat, providing for much more varied and interesting combat sections. You are also given roughly twice the gadgets given in the first game, and everything feels much more open. Going back and playing Asylum after getting used to the freedom provided in City, makes you truly appreciate the changes RockSteady made. The city itself is also significantly larger, 5 times bigger in fact, and you are able to traverse it much faster and with greater precision. The increase in size also allows for TONS of interesting and unique side missions, usually involving a villain not featured in the main story. Which brings me to my next point, the story. The story starts off incredibly, and keeps the momentum going for the first few hours. However, once your map starts to get flooded with side missions and collectibles, the game becomes somewhat cramped, and the middle of the story loses some focus. However, it is wrapped up in a fantastic 3rd act that leaves the ending open, and my jaw on the floor. As far as replayability, there is a LOT of stuff to do. After finishing the main story, you still have to complete a more than a dozen lengthy side missions, 30 challenge maps, 12 different challenge campaigns where you have to complete specific challenge maps in a specific order with specific buffs and debuffs making each fight memorable. Add to that the playable catwoman story missions, the newgame+ mode in which you play through the story and side missions again, with much more difficulty, and the 440 riddler challenges that will test both your skill at the game, and at times your intellect. All of this must be completed in order to 100% arkham city. (Which I am very proud that I did) Even with its minor flaws, Batman Arkham City stands tall, as what is in my opinion, the greatest game of all time.
