Although it may be the best assassin creed, it is highly recycled. From the song the sailors on your ship sing to the sail masts that do not move with the wind, you will find a game that is pieced together.

Terrible. Bug riddled and rushed. Anyone who praises the game is paid to praise it, its not worth the $40 it sells for. The game is just a rehash of Black Flag, but with the tables turned. Instead of being an assassin, you are a Templar. You can intercept assassin pigeons (which are extremely buggy missions) The story is very short and just isn't really there. You never really take revengeTerrible. You never really take revenge on those who betrayed you, instead you're shafted into helping the British defeat the french during the seven years war.

Naval battle is pointless in the game, since most of your time will be spent on land, and most collectibles are in more populated areas like New York and small towns in the River Valley, unlike in Black Flag. where you could sail to tiny islands to get collectibles. Ship upgrades have little to no effect, ended up taking on a small gunboat with my ship maxed out and was owned like I was facing a legendary ship.

Terrain glitches abound too. You'll get stuck behind trees, in between crevices, which require a full restart of the game. That should not happen at all in a video game. It shows the developers were sloppy and lazy.

Assassin's Creed: Rogue is a great game. The main character, Shay Patrick Cormac, is an Assassin-turned-Templar, and this leads to some unique gameplay. I say some, because other than that one change, this is just a better Black Flag.

A competent addition that felt a bit too derivative of AC4 which I played a lot of. By no means a bad game, just lacking in anything new or engaging.

It ends up feeling more like a retrospective than a game in its own right. [Jan 2015, p.80]

Rogue paints the picture of an arbitrary war drawing arbitrary lines.
