  1. The Wii version of Tomb Raider Anniversary won’t pull in those who have already played the game on PS2 or Xbox 360. Everyone else, however, will be pleasantly surprised by the Wii remote implementation. This is one tomb that should be explored thoroughly.

This really is a special game for the truest fans. [Dec 2007, p.84]
  3. Tomb Raider: Anniversary is the perfect way to revisit Lara Croft. Instead of a remake, we've been given a remade version of her original adventure, bringing with it all the improvements that have been made to her character over the years, yet retaining the qualities that made us fall in love with her games in the first place.

It makes the most of modern technology to bring a classic game world up to date, throws in simple but intuitive controls and doesn't rely on constant fire-fights to bring excitement.

Anniversary is the best game in the series by far. [Christmas 2007, p.72]

Reworked, modernised but still definitely a retro experience, the original Tomb Raider proves there was substance behind all the hype. [Jan 2008, p.41]

If you don't have access to the other console versions, this is well worth getting. [Jan 2007, p.61]
  8. n-Revolution Magazine UK

It massively improves the original's gameplay. [Issue#17, p.80]
  9. And even though the controls and camera provide ongoing problems through the entire game, you’ll eventually learn to adapt, or at least deal with them.

One niggle is that you need to be very proficient with the nunchuck as the Tomb Raider formula calls for well-timed precision which can be very fiddly with the Wii's default controls and rather irritatingly, there's no other option. Great story line, the graphics are pretty good. The puzzles are fun and engaging and not too repetitive. The story is a decent length, but not so long that you can't make good headway in an afternoon. There are a few issues with the camera angles which get a little frustrating but overall it's just a fun and enjoyable game. It's a definite must have title for every decent Wii collection. 7/10 Full Review »
