A Shadow's Tale is an engaging and enjoyable platform game, with a nice artistic direction and a good number of original elements that fit effectively into the gameplay.

Lost in Shadow is a fantastic addition to the Wii library . A good game from Hudson Soft.

While perhaps not a ground-breaking addition to the Wii library, A Shadow's Tale had the potential to be more than what it ended up being. Nevertheless, what was given is still quite a good experience that will delight Wii owners craving for an original concept that strives to convey a unique atmosphere to its players through a well designed soundtrack and visual style.

The basic idea behind A Shadow's Tale is quite intriguing, but the game design fails to drain the main portion of its drive. The game plays it's strongest hand in the opening quarter and unfortunately rest of this trek is repetition of the few good ideas. If the contents were compressed and the game sold via Wiiware, the result would definitely be an instant classic. [June 2011]

It takes time to gather momentum, but A Shadow's Tale is worth stepping out of the dark for.

If you can keep your expectations in check, accepting that Lost in Shadow is essentially an old school Prince of Persia-inspired game with a clever twist, you will find it worth your time to try it out.

It's a creative and distinctive adventure in terms of both graphics and gameplay--rare qualities in this day and age--making this title well worth experiencing for yourself. [Jan 2011, p.89]

I'm worried that I'm making Lost In Shadow sound bad. It's not bad. It's actually rather good. It's just nothing terribly new.

Poor pacing almost derails this imaginative platformer, but a variety of clever puzzles in the second half of the game make it worth sticking with to the end.

Interesting gameplay mechanics, sadly repeated over and over. Despite that, Lost in Shadow is a fresh and new experience, that every Wii user lloking for soemthing original should at least try.

Ultimately I can't recommend Lost In Shadow to everyone. The puzzles and combat are too difficult for children (even on easy mode), and platforming fans will be put off by the unresponsive controls.

Lost in Shadow is a great experience that's spread a bit too thin. Though the core ideas behind the game are remarkable, the game's length and awkward pacing early on will frustrate some and might make others outright bored.

However, as I got deeper into the game I fell in love with its brilliance and its weirdness. It's incredible how much effort went into designing levels that are played as both a 3D foreground and a 2D shadow projection. And the song Hinagiku by Gutevolk sets the tone of the atmosphere so well. I wish there was more of this game! Full Review »
