Lost in Shadow commits what I consider to be gaming's cardinal sin: taking a great idea and using its originality up in a bad game. This is a real waste.

As much as I may admire the concept, I really can't recommend Lost in Shadow to anyone except those who crave simplistic, repetitive gameplay and an unnecessarily bloated running time.

With its refreshing pitch and mystical atmosphere, A Shadow's Tale seemed like an original game. But if this innovative side is well expressed through the visual, it's not in the gameplay, which is inspired by a variety of other existing games, but without any inspiration to merge all this in a clever way. A Shadow's Tale main flaw remains its lack of pace, variety... and fun. A game that can catch our eye very quickly, but can't keep our interest up very long.

However, as I got deeper into the game I fell in love with its brilliance and its weirdness. It's incredible how much effort went into designing levels that are played as both a 3D foreground and a 2D shadow projection. And the song Hinagiku by Gutevolk sets the tone of the atmosphere so well. I wish there was more of this game! Full Review »
