A Wii game combining a clever shoot-em-up with a surprisingly rich (if reasonably limited) object editor that lets you create your own levels and scenes. If you've ever had the itch to make your own shooter but don't know a lick about programming, this is one of the best ways to go about it.
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyBlast Works sure looks juvenile, but it's not a bad shooter--it's an enhanced version of "Tumiki Fighters", an indie PC game that uses "Katamari Damacy"-like mechanics. [June 2008, p.76]
-
For a value title, Blast Works provides serious replay value for those willing to take the initiative.
-
BlastWorks provides a good amount of shooting action out of the box, but the ability to create your own designs and easily share them with others is what really makes this title shine.
-
If you have a Wii, then get this game. It‘s that simple. Blast Works is an amazing demonstration of how you can take an old concept and take it in directions that are limited only by your imagination.
-
BoomtownFor what you get on the disc Blastworks is a fantastic package, it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but if you like your scrolling shooters, or have an inclination towards game design then this really is a must have.
