Best RPG released since the Ps2 Era.

    Perfect game in every respect.
Completely destroys Failout 4 in every possible aspect. From the character models, all the way to the superior combat system. Xenoblade Chronicles X takes the cake. The foolish and lack of mind will play Fallout 4, and the wise and true gamers will Get Xenoblade Chronicles X.

If you are looking for a game that baby's you and holds your hand like so many RPG's of this generation have done, then this game is NOT for you.
This game is designed for truly hard-core RPG players, who love to dig deep into the mechanics of a game to pull out new levels of strength that the average player will be baffled over, and want to aspire to.

Xenoblade X is probably one of the first games to come out this gen that goes almost entirely hands-off in terms of hand-holding; from the very start of the game, you're free to wander the world as you please and take whatever path you can find to your goals, even if said paths often end up with you being eaten alive by something you didn't expect.

The most that the game will do, is give you access to a VERY extensive manual, and a few Splash pages to explain general functions at the relevant times.
Other than that, the game leaves the player to their own devices.

Some might find this to be off-putting compared to the level of hand-holding they're used to in other RPG's that have become popular this gen, like Fallout and Witcher, while others will remember this just as fondly as they did the classic RPG's of the old days, when exploration was key to self-improvement and the games were not afraid of being hard on their players if they took steps into areas their builds and stats just weren't ready for.
The difference here is, you can actually circumvent many of those would-be choke points, IF you are clever enough to discover the path around them.
And once you get a flying Skell, this game suddenly takes the term "See that mountain? You can go there." quite literally, allowing you to basically explore every last nook and cranny of every land mass in the game.

For exploration nuts, this is literally one of the best games they can buy on the market; each and every continent is filled to bursting with secrets and challenges to find and overcome, and despite the hardware not being at the same level as other consoles, the visuals are gorgeous and the music is atmospheric in every sense of the word. [outside of the rap, possibly]

The mechanics are deep, and those who love micro-managing and min-maxing their stats and gear will find an experience that rewards their tenacity with God-like levels of power.
But even for those that do not, simply keeping their gear, classes, and levels up to date will allow them to progress and enjoy what the game has to offer.

Despite all of these things, the game is not perfect.
The following points are subject to opinion, but the music is hit and miss, and the lack of volume sliders and Japanese dubs with English subs may be a turn-off to certain gamers.
If there's anything truly wrong with the game, objectively, it's that you have to go out into the city to find party members that aren't currently with you, and that there is no way of tracking the locations of Collectipedia items. [But then again, that's what the internet and guides are for.]

But in the end, these small flaws do not do enough to mar the experience to any significant extent, and that's why my final rating for this game is a full 10.

If you don't own a Wii U and you've been looking for a game that takes exploration to new heights [literally], then you owe it to yourself to get the system and this game.

This game may be limited it some ways, but the things it does well, it does better than almost any other game. The world is one of the most stunning ever created. The battle system is deep and even though you need to look past some things if you are new to xenoblade or japanese Rpg's as a whole. the game still deserves praise for what it bringa to the table.

I'm not a fanboy, that is I never played Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii. The last Xeno anything game I played was Xenosaga and I got lost in the first tutorial area somehow... Anyway, I'm only saying this so you'll know I'm pretty unbiased in terms of the series in general. However, for this game it helps if you have an affinity for JRPGs since there's a lot of common tropes used here.

With that out of the way, the game itself has so many layers to it that it feels overwhelming at first. It can make you feel a little dumb honestly, with it's textbook digital manual and lengthy tutorial pages. At first I thought maybe it wasn't for me and I wasted my money. But I decided to press on and just wander aimlessly for a while and figure things out on the fly, which worked out surprisingly well! It's so much fun to master your favorite combat style (dual blades and guns for me!), explore the wondrous expanse that is Mira and take it all in. This game is offering a real experience, like a great movie or an engrossing novel.

But that doesn't mean you should expect a compelling story or characters from what I've seen so far. I'm fine with it because I bought the game for the gameplay, but some might be turned off by some snooze worthy dialogue here and there. Luckily the cutscenes and character interactions seem to be short for the most part! The music is great though, I absolutely love it! Definitely not your typical JRPG fare and helps establish the tone of the game. It makes up for the lack of a great story in this reviewer's humble opinion :)

What you'll keep coming back for is the very deep combat system and exploration aspects of the game. It's impossible to describe the satisfaction you get from learning the ins and outs of combat, stacking your arts correctly and killing crazy alien monsters. This is why I play video games. I mean sure, we all love a great story a la Metal Gear or Mass Effect or something like that but sometimes you just wanna GAME right?

Anyway, that's about all I got. Give this game a shot! If you already have a Wii U, this will justify your purchase much like Smash Bros, Mario Kart etc but as a great single player game. Now there's a reason to keep the thing hooked up even when I don't have any friends around to Brawl it out with! Game of the Year contender? Probably not, but that's more because it's been an awesome year for games (Bloodborne) and less because of anything wrong with XBX itself.

The music is wonderful, the combat is fun, the scenery breathtaking and alien.

There is so much to learn, picking up this title truly feels like drifting into a whole new world. I recommend giving the in-game manual a good read!

Some minor complaints about the game: The voice acting is professional, but slow---I would like to see a mass effect style sentence-skipper. The dubbing is obvious, i hope for a japanese voice pack DLC. I wish there were a more integrated questing system with friends, but the current online play is satisfactory. This is largely a single player game, with a few multiplayer missions or world bosses now and then.

You now can begin the sidequests at a single terminal rather than having to search for a particular NPC to unlock them, making them more accessible. You can also set any quest as your target for the map to direct you to the right area. The online features also do add to the game, particularly the multiplayer online quests and the global nemises. Sure, the music and story aren't as good as XC's, but they are still great and this game makes up for it with the online content and the introduction of skells, large mechs that make travelling large distances easier, and can strengthen you in combat as well. Overall, it may well be my favourite game of all time and obviously one I would recommend to any gamer, and yes, it is worth buying a Wii U just for this game.

I generally stay away from RPGs because I know how much time they consume and require unbroken attention so the player doesn't forget the intricacies of the game's systems, but this game is truly worth it.
The world is, if I'm not mistaken, the largest non-procedurally generated and non-MMO game world in the history of console gaming, and that's only a good thing. On foot there is plenty to see and do in all areas of the vast planet and when driving a mech, countless new possibilities are open. Not only is the world enormous and packed with content, but there is incredible verticality to it, so it's surface area is even larger than the map would have you believe. The perfect running speed and use of mechs make traversing the world easy and never feel like a chore, which is an amazing design victory.
The combat system is strategic yet fast paced and not turn based, meaning that it doesn't feel like you're wasting your life playing a game, instead it feels thrilling and exciting, every battle is enjoyable and worth your time.
The monsters themselves are incredible, the variety is enormous and it's a wonder when you see each one for the first time.
I played the story alongside many many side quests, so it took a total of 180 hours for me to complete the main story. The flaw in the story is its disappointing pacing. I was immersed in it and really enjoying it until it suddenly ended 180 hours into the game when I thought I was only halfway through.
Whilst it's a negative that the story ends abruptly and fails to live up to its build up, the truly amazing thing is that after 180 hours of playing, I still thought I had another hundred hours to go and was fully excited to play through it, the game still hadn't gotten old after all this time.
Besides the story, there are three other flaws:
The enemy draw distance is quite bad. It's not a problem on foot, but when driving a mech fast, enemies can spawn when you're just a few meters from them causing you to run into them when you don't want to, triggering an unwanted encounter. Fair enough though, the game is graphically beautiful and this is one of the shortcuts that was taken to allow that.
Another flaw, giant locust type enemies that camouflage themselves and jump out at you... why?!
Do they not know an enormous amount of people can't stand these kinds of creatures :S oh well, I looked past it as they're ultimately only one of many other creatures, so they're not too common.
The final flaw: the amount of grinding needed to be able to get the best gear setups is ridiculous.
Without doing it, you can't face the game's legendary monsters and live to tell the tale, so personally, I ended up passing on this. I never defeated some of the epic monsters I had been seeing as I played the game but it's OK, there's only a handful of these guys out there and honestly they're amazing enough just to look at.
One last flaw before I forget, before the final boss, you will be asked twice if you'd like to proceed. Say no, and save the game, this is crucial. If you fail at defeating the final boss, you will not be able to go back and change gear or train your character. You will have to fight the boss again as you are until you beat them. If you aren't ready, the only way to go back and change gear or train is to turn off the game and go back to your last save before starting the boss battle. This is a stupid design flaw in the game, really stupid.
Despite the flaws I've listed, I can't give this game less than 10/10.
What it does right is just so incredible that this game deserves to be in the top league of all games ever made. I can recommend very few other games as much, let alone more, than Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Xenoeblade Chronicles X is a huge world to explore on ground and in air. Side quest has a lot to do with the story and the side quest connect very well and helps you learn more on each character in the game. Fighting both ways fighting on ground and fighting in the air! Danger is also in the skies. How i feel about this game? I'M REALLY FEELING IT!!!

I wasn't much of a JRPG fan before I found out about this. The combat is pretty good, there is a HUGE world for you to explore, the story is meh, and plenty of customization available.

The only annoying thing is that the music is louder than the voices in cutscenes.

I liked X more than the first xenoblade, I don´t know why, the story was very interesting, very good, I hope Xenoblade 2 is as good as 1 and X, also the voice acting was good, sadly I felt there was a lil bit of lip-sync problems

After I couldn't get in to Xenoblade on Switch, I tried this. I loved it and then quickly realised it is a big open world exploration game, which is not for me at all.

I went back to Xenoblade and have to say it blows X out of the water.

However if you like open world games, this is a big beautiful open world. I tend to prefer animation game world's but this was fantastic.

This is really a 6/10 for my personal enjoyment but if levelling, exploring and open world are your thing, then it doesn't get much better than this. I am still in two minds as to whether I want to trade this in yet but I am now at the last boss on Xenoblade and X doesn't compare for me as I love Xenoblades story. X doesn't really have much story.

Fantastic game and the battle system has a horrible learning curve but is fun once it clicks.

I am still giving a 10 score because I think if I look at it in context, rather than my personal view then it deserves a 10.

    - many side quests to do
    - hard but fair bosses
    - amazing soundtrack - fantastic graphics, especially for WiiU standards Negatives:
    - caused of the free open world, lots of enemies which are highly over levelled - especially in the ending chapters, a lot of grinding is needed
    - when you start a harmony quest you have to end it and you can not start a new chapter or other kinds of quests during that time
    - some quality of life problems in the game

So yes, the game has its problems, but still it is an amazing action RPG. It is the worst Xenoblade, but that doesn’t say that the game is bad, but more how good the entire series is. I recommend this game to everyone who likes exploring a massiv open world, likes a good written story, likes figuring out new tactics in combat and every RPG fan.

Seeing all the species coexisting on planet Mira you really feel on a living planet that thrives on its own. It makes you feel like an outsider, where for once the human race is no on top of the food chain and this game paints that picture spectacularly. And just as you feel you've explored everything on the planet the game gives you a big flying robot (a skell) that changes both the exploration and the combat beautifully. The exploration, combat, and making bonds with the citizens of New L.A. are by far the best things in this game. The most common reason this game gets hated on is because of the story but you have to realize that this isn't a masterpiece because of its twelve chapters, it's a masterpiece because it is capable of creating a sense of scale I have never experienced before, it manages to bring you into it's world better than Botw and any other open-world j/rpg. Yes the battle system is hard to learn, yes the menus and skills are confusing, but after you see past that you see the beautiful masterpiece of a video-game that is Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Oh also a port to switch would be amazing.

I'm editing my review 2 seconds after submitting it because I realized I forgot about the soundtrack. The music in this game is phenomenal and goes so well with the theme. It's so fun to explore an alien world while listen to beautiful music, take my word for it. The music is so good it makes what could be repetitive battles into something to look forward too. Enough said, this game is beautiful, buy it and buy a wii u if you don't have one.

The progress gates are there to protect you from dying horribly. Though I wish there was something that could be done about where all of your party members are (they're listed on the map for where they are most of the time, but you have to add them all one by one). Probably the best thing I can say about this game is that it's the best of both worlds, the Combat system of Xenoblade Chronicles, and the mechs (under the name Skell) of Xenogears. A wonderful combination. I would also like to mention that the story seems fairly solid, some might find it contrived, but well.... it is kinda like a realistic anime type game... so there's not much of a surprise there. But this game doesn't need that story to be good, it has plenty of exploration and customization while having a decent enough story to keep you playing for hours on end!

Only real downside are the progress gates, which while protective, can also be annoying when you just want to get on with the story (chapter 4 requires you to have 15% explored on the main starting continent... it can take awhile just to do on its own).

It's a massive sci-fi RPG, with probably the largest open-world I've ever seen. All of its charms, and even its flaws, come from the fact that this is an enormously ambitious undertaking, presenting players with a huge playground of a planet that is ripe for adventuring and exploration.

In the story, you're one of the few survivors of Earth's demise. Having crash-landed into planet Mira, the last remaining humans set up the city of New Los Angeles, which acts as an ever-developing hub for main-story missions and sidequests.

The plot could be described as a distinctively Japanese take on something like Star Wars or Star Trek; there are sentient alien races to find, fight, and befriend, as well as a plethora of wild lifeforms (called indigens) to hunt down for experience and materials. The story has its highs and lows, and often requires healthy doses of suspension of disbelief (not unlike the aforementioned franchises, to be honest).

The open world comprises two sets of locations. First, there's the city of NLA and its various districts. There's lots of stuff to do here, but it does feel a little stiff when compared to cities in other similar titles. One of the reasons for that is how unwieldy it is to find your way across the city, with loads of information to keep track of (such as locations for recruitable characters, regular missions, and affinity quests) and no easy way to display all that data on a neat, organized manner. Also, here some of the game's technical compromises become clear, as textures can be a bit too muddy, and the lack of collision detection with moving cars can lead to unintentionally funny moments.

It's all for good reason, though, because then there's the true meat of the title: the Miran wilderness. Each of the five massive continents has its own identity, from sprawling plains to massive forests to desertic landscapes, and they're all beautiful, with detailed environments and a rather large draw distance. Of the seventy hours I poured into the title, the vast majority was spent exploring its many intriguing locales, battling indigens and instaling probes to map out the planet.

It helps a lot that the entire world is pretty much seamless: unless you use fast-travelling, there's not a single loading screen to be seen outside of story missions, which is a phenomenal accomplishment in a world this big.

Another defining quality of Xenoblade X is the depth of its mechanics. Make no mistake: this is not the kind of game you just pick up and play. There are a lot of concepts to grasp, which may warrant a few looks at the virtual manual (or at an online wiki, which I'd say is very recommended). The good news is that, unless you want to tirelessly micromanage everything, you can probably ignore a lot of the minutiae once you get the grasp of basic combat and exploration. Aside from the first few hours, I only cared about equipping arts and skills, relegating other needlessly complicated features (such as soul voices and some of the equipment characteristics) to their automated setups.

And of course, there are the skells, which are the all-powerful mechs that become available for your team six chapters into the story. Better yet, later on you can get the flight module, allowing your skells to take off. If you think Mira is an alluring place to explore on foot, wait until you start soaring above the beautiful landscapes, being able to reach literally every single place you lay your eyes on. It's a true game changer, and takes Xenoblade X from a great adventure to truly beathtaking stuff.

Saying RPG fans should at least try out Xenoblade X is an understatement. The dedication it requires, both for exploring its vast open world and for mastering its more obtuse mechanics, means it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea. But if you're in the market for spending dozens upon dozens of hours on truly immersive and compelling gameplay, you owe it to yourself to give this one a try.

And that's what it the game is, 'an experience,' more than almost any other game I've played. If you've ever watched an anime focused on a character's fighting growth or played almost any RPG in any form, you're already familiar with this game. You start out as a weak, puny human and attempt to slowly climb the scales of power to godly extents. The process feels refreshingly realistic compared to comparable games, in the sense that larger enemies are harder, period, and killing the largest enemies would take hours on foot. The sense of emergent power is well beyond any other game I've played. In a normal RPG you gain levels and get better equipment to do more damage, receive less damage, and fight harder enemies. In this game, you do that while accumulating things like division points, R&D points, ability points, credits, tickets, and Miranium to eventually scale your various forms of power well beyond your human form. You gain use of a giant humanoid robot called a 'Skell' (like 'exoskeleton') and then the world and enemies you struggled with until then feel a little punier. You feel momentarily invincible, but even that's just the beginning of a much larger quest for growth. You need to get Skells for everyone in your party, gain the ability to fly, buy better Skells and collect better weapons for them, and even then you will come up short when facing the ultimate enemies. There is a very specific cap to your power in the form of a Skell you can build from items that are effectively impossible to find without tickets (it's called the Ares 90). Then you're at the top, right? No. Even when you can kill almost every monster with a single attack, there are at least two 'Ultrafauna' bosses that will wipe the floor with you until you build augment after augment to perfect your enemy-specific power. At 100% completion, should you have the patience to reach it, you will have an outrageously tricked out Skell that will effectively make you a god of the islands (and you get a poster...).

Everything beyond the quest for power feels like a nuance, meaning the game plays like Monster Hunter , with added plots to direct you around. That makes the stories sound trivial, but in fact they're what kept me interested in the game since I'm all about story. For people who don't just want to run around killing things, the normal, affinity, and story missions are all well written enough to keep things entertaining for the duration. On the other hand, the 'core story' of the game is actually more like a side narration to add a bit of purpose to your travels. There are definitely some few interesting parts in it, along with a few clichés, but because the quest for power is so... overpowering, the story missions end up being more like hindrances to your progress. I ended up wait as long as possible to advance the plot because of how easy it was to get distracted. I searched almost every part of every island on foot, which was a memorable experience in itself, but for people that want to be efficient in total completion, it's far better to do the story missions ASAP to get Skells and flying (not to mention that it makes all other missions available so you won't have to search the same areas as many times to not miss anything).

Content-wise, the game contains numerous 'motifs' from previous Xeno games (Xenogears, Xenosaga 1-3, Xenoblade Chronicles), with a special emphasis on references to the most interesting elements of Xenosaga, but supposedly this game is not a direct sequel to any of those games, which is a major disappointment. The plot elements also lead to more questions than answers, which is bad practice in a world where there's a 50-50 chance for a sequel at best. On the other hand, this game is excellent, so it is ripe for a sequel to further expose the lingering secrets. From here, the worst thing that could happen after to the Xeno 'series' is if they made another isolated game instead of a direct sequel. There's a line at the end of the game (which I don't really consider a spoiler because it tells you nothing about the plot), that's something like "the story continues forever..." Based on the Xeno game creator's priors, it tells me that they may try to leave everything as open mysteries and never touch on them again, which is just mean.

Score: 9/10 from a pure enjoyment perspective. I would say 8/10 from a 'holistic' perspective, but its unique enough to earn the extra point.

Some helpful tips if you're going for 100% from the beginning:
-Read the manual early since the 'tutorials' are bare-bones.
-Complete the Story Missions to get the Skell functions as early as possible.
-Save your tickets for the Ares 90 and augment parts.
    -Whole Game = Beat Telethia.

If all you want to know is whatever or not the game is worth by the answer is yes, yes, and YES! It does such a great job at blending the scale and imagination of the original game with lots of new ideas. The lack of explanation will frustrate you, and there may be a few times where you start to feel as if you're just running in circles for hours and not accomplishing much. But if you can will yourself through that, you will be treating yourself to one of the best games the Wii U library has to offer. And honestly I'd rather take a game with to much passionate ambition for its own good, that one where the creators feel that the bare minimum effort is somehow “good enough”.

    THE GOOD
+Fantastic world and setting with lots of detail.
    +BEST.SOUNDTRACK.EVER.
+Gameplay is both challenging and rewarding.

    THE MIXED
+/- The story is very compelling, but also much to small.
+/- Some characters are great...most are not and need more fleshing out.

    THE BAD
    - Absolutely terrible at explaining things to you.
    - Can feel a bit padded at times. Leveling needs to be easier.

My main criticisms are the emotionless characters and the skells. To elaborate, the voice acting feels subdued and the models, while actually pretty decent, don't show much emotion. I suppose that could be explained by all of the main characters being military and having a stoic demeanor, but it doesn't make it better. As for the skells, after the initial "OMG GIANT ROBOT, BEST GAME EVER" reaction wore off, I found myself wishing I was still on foot. Exploring the world on foot makes it feel big and dangerous, while adding the skell removed all of that. In addition, I felt that they made combat less interesting due to the fewer amount of total skills they could use. Picking party members on foot felt fun because everyone had a different class and could do different thing, but in a skell, anybody can do anything.

I know it seems weird giving a 9/10 rating when 80% of the review is criticism, but those really are the only two things I dislike about the game. The story is interesting, the environments are fun to explore, and the music is great.

This is the best game on the Wii U, a massive Rpg that literally saved the Wii u from disappointment. The game seems to never end and on top of that Mira is an overworld that video games have never had before. Once again the best game on the WIi u easily.

If you're into JRPGS this game is perfect for you! It's a little rough on the start but once you get the hang of the combat commands and you level up it just keeps getting better. The world is gorgeous, the framerate is suprisingly stable for a game of this scale. Must buy title!

Monolith Soft has done an extraordinary job of making such a diverse and rich gaming world with an immense amount of things, like the extreme number of alien creature species that all fit the different environments they're in, or all of the breathtaking views of waterfalls falling from strange alien rock formations, and just so much more! The music is absolutely incredible when you're out in the wilderness exploring, but the New LA music during daytime is pretty awful. They could've done better with New LA's soundtrack personally overall, but that's really only where the music falls short. Trying to progress through the story I'm finding pretty difficult because of the requirments needed in order to do them are confusing a lot of the time.

So really, the little problems here and there aren't focused on much because of the amazing content this game delivers, with the deep combat system full of different arts and tactics to use, all the regions and landmarks to explore, all of the diverse creatures to battle, and much more. Xenoblade Chronicles X is one hell of a game that every RPG loving Wii U owner should not miss out on.

This game has absolutly amazing graphical style. I found myself just staring on the enviroment and creatures on countless occasions. Gameplaywise it might be quite a bit of serious grinding necessary but if you combine it with exploration which you would have to do anyway you dont realize it that much.
On the other hand it never feels like "you HAVE TO do...." because due to the already mentioned awesome style I am always wondering what could be above this waterfall or on top of those mountains anyway on my own.

The beginning feels a little bit slow at first and it's wiertd that I found 3 missions each spotlighting and tutorializing the sensor point system but NO real explanation of how the combat system works. So this game sure expects quite alot of you to figure out on your own. Which isn't a bad thing at all but you can feel a little bit overwhelmed by the game once the difficulty goes up after the first few hours.

My few negative criticism about the game is...

Sometimes it is annoying that there are enemies that attack you if you run past them. It becomes a problem because even the Level2 Moth stops you in your tracks with a level 40 character and that slows the getting somewhere down considerably.
The second letdown i feel sometimes is as amazing the creatures look and move, they sadly dont interact with each other. So you wont see a predator dinosaur hunting his lunch. It's a really small problem but would make the world feel even more alive.

If you read or watched other reviews you hear alot of bashing because of horrible music... I dont feel like that's true on the whole. There are some really good tracks but sure the rest is pretty generic filler music Not bad just not special enough for such an amazing game in my opinion. The music placement on the other hand is sometimes questionable ... Fighting a giant boss like creature that doesnt even fit on the screen in my transforming robot suit and the music is something jazz like...

In the end I really really enjoy this game and if you have a WiiU there is no excuse not to buy it. If you consider buying a WiiU just for this game i hope i could help making up your mind about what to expect. and then buy it ;)

    Oh and for disclaimer reasons
I'm a not too seasoned JRPG player and at the time of writing this about 30 hours into the game.

Scale gets a new meaning as well as patience as it will take you the better part of 20-something hours to unlock your first Skell, an enormous mech that you - and your party - can control, changing the tide of many battles. It's at the 30 hour mark you will fully unlock the capability of your Skell when you take it to the skies.

Perhaps the strongest suit of Chronicles X is that it can still amaze you 20-hours in. While most games may have shown all of their colours, Chronicles X really starts to shine once you unlock your Skell, which is no easy feat. Reaching the point where you're able to partake the license can take awhile, and then you still need to do an eight piece optional quest in order to obtain your towering mech.

Getting back to fidelity, it's amazing just how much of it is rendered on the screen, it's simply overpowering at times when you reach a proper viewpoint to admire your surroundings. Just strolling about is something that can entertain you for hours, if you're beat from the tons of battles you have to partake in. In short, Chronicles X is a massively multiplayer online game, meant for those that want the scale from such games, but not the social aspect. Players are not forced to partake in multiplayer activities, but can still reap some of the benefits.

Just make sure that when you decide to boot Chronicles, you have a long stretch. It's not a game you can easily pick up and play for short bursts.

When I purchased the game, I was a little apprehensive and although it looked really cool I was worried that it would be too complicated and that I would get bored with it and quit. I had tried the first Xenoblade and it failed to hook me in and just felt too overwhelming in the beginning. Despite X being 5 times the size of the original, that has not been the case with this game. The main premise for the story is fantastic and really all it took for me to get invested int he game. I don't really focus on the story so much as exploring and experiencing the huge world of Mira, and I think if you go into the game with that mindset you will have a good time This is the kind of game that makes me want to take a day off work and just indulge. I considered giving a 7 or 8 because of some of the annoyances like lack of music/sfx volume control and cluttered menus, but I feel that the good points of this game far outweigh the bad. If that changes I will update this review, but I don't forsee that happening.
