Despite the introduction of amiibo, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash has little new content. Camelot powered up the gameplay instead, an over-the-top approach embodied by the Mega Mushroom, although the Jumpshot stands as the biggest addition. And the series' legendary accessibility, depth and balance also improved through this great touch of design, which elevates "Jumpman Tennis" among the most convivial games.

Nintendo’s best competitive sports title is just as thrilling as ever, but feels a little too familiar and light on content.

It lacks all the things that make Mario Tennis awesome. Still, the core Mario Tennis gameplay is solid and fun, now being able to play online competitively without any gimmicks. Amiibo functionality is good, as you can play with it online against other's amiibos. Characters show good animations and lot of personality, too. But the game is bad no matter how you look at it, Easily the worst Mario spin off title ever. Full Review »

I have no idea how Nintendo think they can charge $65 for something that feels like a minigame for an actual game. The core gameplay and the online play is alright and the game looks great, but if you compare this game to other $65 games these days, it feels like such a rip off (even older Mario Sports games have way more content [Super Mario Strikers, etc]). Really disappointing. Full Review »

They basically took out all of the Mario in it, added two gimmicks, and drained it of all the fun. There seems to be no reason for this gameThey basically took out all of the Mario in it, added two gimmicks, and drained it of all the fun. There seems to be no reason for this game existing. 3DS tennis had things to do, GC had memorable animations and a real tournament, this thing just has scaling changes for no benefit or use. This feels like one of those bad fan made games someone put together over a weekend. x.x Full Review »
