Oct 9, 2021Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash suffers from its content much too weak for a tennis game (roster below, online limit). Lack of ambition for the license and in 2015 despite beautiful graphics.

Jun 30, 2018100% trash. You cant even play multiplayer with your friends and be on the same team against the AI, basically the most simple game mode imaginable but its not in the game. Pure crap.

Nov 21, 2015They basically took out all of the Mario in it, added two gimmicks, and drained it of all the fun. There seems to be no reason for this game existing. 3DS tennis had things to do, GC had memorable animations and a real tournament, this thing just has scaling changes for no benefit or use. This feels like one of those bad fan made games someone put together over a weekend. x.x

Nov 24, 2015Mario Tennis Utra Smash was deliberately rushed for the Christmas season. It is bare bones and the weakest of the series. Hopefully Nintendo will fix this with a free download.

Sep 1, 2018Let's ultra smash this dumb and boring game in to Bits so we don't have to play it!

Jan 13, 2021This game is a tennis game made on probably a really tight budget since all it is, is a tennis game with a mega mushroom which doesn’t even do much. It looks nice though.

Nov 22, 2015You're honestly better off sticking with Mario Power Tennis than this awful, content-lacking experience. lack of game modes, lack of characters, lack of stages, this honestly feels like a huge step down from a game that was released 2 console generations ago.
-
Dec 2, 2015A lazy effort. The lack of content is just ridiculous. Though it looks nice aesthetically, everything is so below average, it's not even worth writing about here. Play the Gamecube game or even download the n64 Mario tennis on the eShop. You'll have much more fun in those games. 2/10

Dec 18, 2015Really wanted to like this game as I love the Mario sports titles, but this version is strictly a bare bones, phoned-in stopgag so there is something new on the shelves for Christmas. Basic core gameplay is solid, graphics are beautiful, but a severe lack of gameplay modes, courts, character variety and even basic online friend matchmaking hinders this title before it even gets out of the gate.

Aug 10, 2020don't buy this game if you are looking for FUN games it delivers an hour of excitement after that it sits on a shelf for years there is barely anything to do in this game and what there is to do is poorly excecuted
-
Jan 21, 2018This is even worse than Street Fighter 5! At least SF got Arcade Edition but Mario Tennis still to this day has NOTHING to do. Avoid!

Dec 2, 2015I'm sorry, Nintendo. It does have good graphics, but it's not good. What I think is that Nintendo rushed this one for the hollidays. If they delayed the release to Summer of 2016, it would probably be more successful. This game has lack of modes, and I've done enough research for this game. Tennis lovers, go ahead and buy it, but I'm waiting until Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.

Nov 29, 2015While the game's bloom is great, the controls work fine and the game functions well enough. The game is missing far too many assets from the game that pre-dates this by 10 years. Honestly, just play power tennis on your gamecube or pick that up on ebay for 40$ instead. *Dashie's gameplay was funny as **** though*

Feb 18, 2016No settings? You can't turn off that **** BGM, nothing great to report really, my 2yr old daughter had fun looking at the characters on screen but found the players grunts to be "A little bit noisy"
It's a good thing I bought the game on sale. Give me the original Mario Tennis game over this version! -
Jul 17, 2016I love the mario tennis series I love every single game of the series! Well except this one cause this one lacks seriously and has bad gameplay. This was another idea to sell amiibos and it was rushed I bet.
-
Oct 1, 2016The core mechanics of Mario Tennis have potential but there is simply not enough here to justify more than a few hours of entertainment. I can't recall ever seeing such a light return investment on a full priced game.
-
Apr 22, 2017This game is just empty. There are few game modes which are either boring or too short. The only thing this game has going for it is the amino functionality which is actually quite useful for once. This game has no replay value and I have no wish to return to this game whatsoever. This game simply feels rushed.

Feb 19, 2021This game sucks! In my opinion, it doesn't even deserve a remake and I don't care on what anyone else says otherwise about this game, it's pure garbage!
-
Jan 18, 2021I bought this game thinking it was gonna be Gex but a Sh*tty tennis game but it turns out Gex is a REALLY Sh*tty tennis game so F*ck you, F*ck Gex, and F*CK TENNIS!
-
Dec 29, 2022So barebones in content and boring as hell, for $50? Terrible considering how much effort and content there was in previous Mario Tennis installments. Nintendo and Camelot, please do better.

CD-ActionMar 4, 2016It seems someone forgot to develop a game before publishing it, because MTUS lacks content so desperately that it looks like a mini game from Mario Party. [02/2016, p.63]
