Oct 19, 2023World of Horror is an ambitious and impressive little horror gem that reads as a love letter to the works of Junji Ito and Lovecraft. Revolving around gorgeous retro vibes, twisted tales, and RNG-fuelled gameplay loops, it’s a morbidly moreish experience that’s hard to put down.

Nov 15, 2023World of Horror would’ve been an easy 5/5 if it had touchscreen support on Switch or had better controller support on the platform. Barring that, I have no hesitation in calling this a must-play horror game if you enjoy the genre and are up to try something interesting. Right now, World of Horror is amazing, but I really wish it controlled better.

Nov 5, 2023World of Horror is one of the most unique roguelites we’ve seen on the Switch eShop to date, its expert fusion of text-based adventure, survival horror, and roguelike mechanics makes for a difficult, harrowing, and spooky adventure that we’d recommend you give a shot. Not everyone will be charmed by its extremely retro aesthetics, but if you can get into the right mindset for giving this one a playthrough, you’ll find there’s a lot to love.

Dec 14, 2023To sum things up, this game was a real experience. It opened me to a new genre of games which I previously dismissed. I found myself wanting to replay stories just to try for different endings. World of Horror is an ideal title for gamers who like causal horror titles. There’s a low commitment to the stories despite the range in difficulty, and it’s easy to pick up and come back to time and time again.

Dec 19, 2023World of Horror is not a game for all horror lovers, because of its 80's style of text based adventure game. But if you connect with its formula, with its roguelite touches, its turn-based combat and its visuals, then get ready to have a great time. Too bad it does not squeeze all the options offered by Nintendo Switch.

Jan 8, 2024I’m not sure I would overall recommend the Switch version over the PC version of the game, but if portability is a big factor for you (an aspect this game lends itself to very well), then the Switch is a perfectly acceptable platform for stopping an old god from engulfing this sleepy Japanese town in madness.

Oct 31, 2023The visuals and roguelike elements of World of Horror combine to create a wholly unique experience for Switch users. The gameplay loop does become repetitive rather quickly, but the short gaming sessions and changing relationship between events make this a successful and scary diversion from the norm.
