I may seem a little overzealous when I say this, but We Love Katamari is one of the best games ever made. Sure, the concept isn’t for everyone, but it does everything this concept has going for it perfectly. I think the series lost focus after this title which isn’t a surprise because this is the last Katamari game that the creator Keita Takahashi worked on. The other Katamari games are great do not get me wrong and I hope those get remastered too, but future games lacked the same innovation We Love Katamari had for the concept of rolling up junk. This is the top of the clump spirit folks, and I would suggest not missing it.

You could say that We Love Katamari did for its predecessor what Tears of the Kingdom did with Breath of the Wild: It expanded on everything that made its prequel unique, while cementing its signature series' style for the foreseeable future. [Issue #66 – July/August 2023, p. 75]

We Love Katamari is a better game than Katamari Damacy. It has more level variety, and had multiplayer options before it was remastered. The core gameplay of both games is exactly the same. We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie is a fantastic remaster of that already great game. The HD visuals and gameplay tweaks look and feel perfect. The only fault is in the bonus content. It’s always lovely to have more features, but none of them are so compelling that they extend the time you’ll spend with the game. We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie won’t be for everyone, but it will also be a “must play experience” for many.

In this writer’s personal opinion, there are two Katamari Damacy games worth keeping around. We now have both of them on the Nintendo Switch, and I’m quite happy with that. We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie isn’t a perfect experience, but it’s a more than acceptable way to experience a sequel that could have phoned it in but chose to do more. And yes, the soundtrack once again rules. A good version of a great game, and still just as fine a wine as it was back in 2005.

If you’ve ever played We Love Katamari or any version of the original Katamari Damacy, then you already know what you’ll be getting into with We Love Katamari Reroll. It’s an incremental improvement at best—both as a sequel to Katamari Damacy and as a port of We Love Katamari—but if that’s all you’re looking for then the end result will certainly be satisfying. Katamari is already such an unusual game that maybe its sequel doesn’t need to be particularly groundbreaking, and since it’s so rare for any Katamari game to be released at all it’s absolutely a good place to start for anyone that hasn’t gotten to experience the series’ weird and wonderful vibes.

TheGreat revamp of one of the best games in the Katamari series! I am so happy to finally be able to play this game on newer hardware! The gameplay is unique, as well as fun and addictive. The music is also really good. "We Love Katamari" improves on the original in almost every way. My only complaint is that it can sometimes be clunky to control, and I have gotten myself stuck in places or clipped through solid objects a few times. But nevertheless, " I " Love Katamari! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, the game is somewhat fun but some of the levels are over the top difficult and unnecessarily condescending if you dont complete it within a small time limit. Really takes the joy out of the game if it's constantly being condescending towards you for failing a level. And there is definitely a time limit despite the creators advertising that there isn't one. I still enjoy the game somewhat, just disappointed that I spent $30 for it. Likely my last katamari game.
