Sure, the game has a few rough edges, most of which can be attributed its humble indie origins, but it more than makes up for its shortcomings with its heartfelt characters and story. Put on your adventuring hat and cape and warm up your pipes, it’s time for an emotional world rescue.

Wandersong is a colorful musical platformer which does not bet everything on its technical element, but delivers a cheerful fable along its ten hour run. However, its non-existent challenge will reserve it to short sessions only. But thanks to its cheerful cast of well-written characters, Wandersong let the player enjoy nothing but good feelings, thanks to the ever so-satisfying power of music.

Wandersong is a title we recommend. it is an adventure that hits straight to the heart. If you are looking for a breath of fresh air, consider this.

Ridiculous gags involving our well-meaning hero experiencing caffeine for the first time or arguing with a bitter old granny to get her to teach him a song put a smile on my face. However, the gameplay distracts from these whimsical delights instead of complementing them. I walked away from my time with Wandersong having enjoyed the story beats and being charmed by both the world and its characters, but I wish I had more fun actually playing it.

A kind-hearted jaunty adventure that sees you try to bring the best out of those who inhabit the world. It’s not all song and dance though as it is a reflective experience that might just see you learning a bit more about yourself.

Every new story act and every location had characters that I grew fond of, and interactions were wholesome and genuinely funny.

Wandersong is a joyful, relaxing and sometimes moving adventure that stands out from the usual videogames clichès.

If there’s one thing that could have taken this from alright to great, the game could have treated its mechanic as an actual puzzle instead of a gimmick. More Zelda-style instrument playing than Moonwalker-inspired song and dance.

Wandersong is the most emotionally satisfying game I've played in 2018. It's a rollercoaster ride through the spectrum of feelings, all wrapped up in a lovingly crafted construction paper world. I didn't even know this game existed a month ago. Now, it's one I'll never forget.
