That awkward moment when creator of this 'game' literally blackmails you to buy it, or else No More Heroes 3 won't exist.
I was hoping this is going to be at least decent experience.. Nope. It's a literal pile of crap. It looks like crap, it plays like crap. Occasional jokes are funny, yet they are like 0.005% of the game content.

The most interesting and detailed location in the game is hub area. There are no gameplay elements in hub area. That's probably why it's okay. The music in hub is nice, too.
Some people say 'oh man it's mini game compilation whadda ya want!'. I wish there was a single mini game in the first 7 or so hours that is remotely interesting. The rest of the gameplay consists of mashing Y or X buttons till all the bulletsponge (or hitsponge in this case) enemies on the screen die. Just to proceed to next screen with more bulletsponge enemies.
Don't buy it. Blackmailing is bad. Being voluntarily blackmailed is plain stupid. And that's what creator of this game is proposing you. I'd rather prefer him do a Kickstarter or something.. But no thanks, not after this.

    The good:
The music. A new Travis Touchdown game for Switch, good to see him return ...
The bad: I wish I hadn't come back. You can tell that this was another game that they ended up changing and adapting Travis Touchdown to try to sell something. Lack of ideas. Lack of originality. Jokes that we already saw in the other previous games What Meh: There were YouTubers who went in

    What Meh:
There were YouTubers who went in for selling the idea that this was a great game, when in fact it is not that good. If you are a fan of No More Heroes, you better wait for the real No More Heroes 3 and save yourself money and disappointment

This may be the worst game I have ever played. Not from a technical standpoint mind you but everything else is garbage. Every lvl you do the exact same thing and honestly after a while I shut my brain off and just played on auto pilot the game is so easy and I was playing on the games hardest mode. Boring is how I would describe this game which is the worst thing I can say about a game. This may be the worst game I have ever played. Boring is how I would describe this game which is the worst thing I can say about a game. Even other terrible games I have played had something I found even a little bit entertaining. There was none of this stuff here. It was just hold down the "Y" button and never let up except to charge your sword every 60 seconds.
I have a massive headache for making myself push through this game so I am going to go take some aspirin now. I just wanted to make an account and make this review to stop people from making the same mistake i did. Picking up this terrible terrible game.

I am disappointed. No pleasure gained from playing this game. Bought it the last, hoping it would match the other three. Nope, not even close.

As a big fan of Suda51 games, this is very obviously the worst of them and you can tell it was rushed out the door. The game difficulty is unbalanced to say the least, while you can easily toggle it in-game, it does not apply to the stupid races. It's an absolutely ignorant design choice.

This review is divided in two parts: The first being an analysis of the game itself and the second a response to the misinformed people, who spreaded that misinformation, if you are only interested on the latter, feel free to skip to that part. Also, this is a total spoiler-free review.

    FIRST PART:
This game is a narrative experience, wich serves as a bridge between the first two entries and NMH3, in fact, this game delivers the most personal and beautiful story in the whole the franchise so far, this game delivers the principal game: Travis Strikes Again, with the gameplay area being in a 4:3 aspect ratio, and the rest of it being the interface, I understand some people don't like it, but I actually like it, and I take it for what it is: a deliberate creative decision to make reference to old games, but at the same time leveraging the ''lost'' space. Tha core gameplay is in fact pretty smooth, it can turn repetitive if you play several consecutive hours, but the power ups and pasive habilities give an interesting depth and variety to the combat. TSA is perfeclty playable and fun in solo, but it's obviously meant to be a co-op experience and the bosses probablly have the best desings in the whole series, in terms of being interesting characters, some are on a par with the ones in the first game, same goes to Bad Man, the co protagonist on this entry (and second player). who climbed quickly to gain a place in the fan's hearts. The other half of the game is called Travis Strikes Back, a visual novel-like story, and hear me out, this game have a lot of text, just like most of Suda's previous work, and I can see that being a problem for some of you, wich is totally respectable, but believe me, Suda is a GREAT writter. This game contains a ton of references not only to games in general, but also Suda's previous works in particular, so it can be confusing sometimes if you didn't played his previous games. Taking all this in count, TSA is a fun, deep and personal experience, but my advice is to get into Suda's previous work to fully understand not only the references, but his writting philosophy and themes.

    PART TWO:
Oh jeez, well, hee we go.
When this game was announced, Suda's translator did some weird translation, not making too clear what the game was about. What was clear was Suda needed this game to perform decently in sales to make No More Heroes 3- and that's it. THAT. IS. THE. ''BLACKMAIL'', dude needed the game to sell to make the next part, last time I checked that's how most of the audiovisual market works, it's not like he tried to people buy a bad game. TSA is a GREAT game, with everything that made NMH good in first place, only superficial people who couldn't read the subtext of the first game thinks of this game as some sort of scam, because it is not only a good spin off, but a good game overall and is extremely important in the franchise's lore and character development, but as there are people thinking NMH was all about some sort of violence glorification, they managed to deflect their baby rage's to the game, another misconception was that this was sort of a minigame compilation, wich is also misinformation, but this time by the media, who repeatedly took a single inteview with Suda51 in wich he mentioned minigames in TSA, referencing a twist in the mechanics depending of what Death Drive (a fictional console on TSA ) game you were playing, this game is good by all the means, your wrong conceptions should not be relevant to a review.

A piece of a solid game but I can’t shake the feeling that it’s just a quick entrée before No More Heroes 3 which surely will be bigger, more interesting and more bombastic. Enough looking into the past, Suda, I’m waiting for something fresh. [03/2019, p.49]

Suda51 games exist so that we can play something that only Suda51 could make, and in doing so, see who he is from the inside out. By that measure, this is his most successful game in years. [Issue #38 – March/April 2019, p. 69]

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is a maddeningly repetitive experience and should be avoided at all costs.
