    Would we be happy to play another one of these down the line? A game that's essentially another level pack? Based on the evidence presented here, it would be nice to see what Siactro could accomplish with a slightly broader canvas, although goodness knows there are more than enough cautionary tales of ballooning scope hindering the smaller, simpler interactions that make a platformer fun in the first place. We'd certainly play another 'one of these', but we see potential for something more substantial, too — perhaps not a full three-course meal of a game, but a carefully crafted cocktail that expands on the super-charged rainbow-infused shot of platforming the two Torees currently on the Switch eShop offer. The best thing we can say about Toree 2 is that, as with its predecessor, we enjoyed every minute of our time with it.

    I'm all for short games, and if a game really caught my attention I'd be more than happy to pay the equivalent of many coffees for an hour or two's play. My issue is when the game's so truncated in its brevity that it can't deliver on its promise. If Toree 2 is indeed a nostalgic love letter to the platformers of yesteryear, then the developers should have understood what made those titles cohesive, character-driven experiences. Toree 2's simply too limited and thin to deliver atmosphere, character, or a cohesive 3D platformer experience. As the saying goes: fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I'm not making the mistake of giving this developer the benefit of the doubt this time around.

    Toree 2 is my Indie hit of the year. For a dollar you can't go wrong. With Bite-sized and Speedy action platforming multiple playableToree 2 is my Indie hit of the year.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Toree 2 is a great sequel to the original Toree. For $1, this is amazing. Even for $5 this would be great. Every level is fun and has its own level gimmick that makes it interesting and memorable, and the boss fight is fun and challenging. It even throws its own curve-ball ending in where Toree and the Grim Reaper share ice cream. So a great overall game for the price, you'll have a good time with it. It is a short 3D platformer, but a good one.

    By the way, the jumpscare did get me, its really unexpected, when you think you're gonna get it you don't.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game slaps. I haven't played the original, but this one's stellar. It gives off old Sonic vibes, while also being it's own thing. All the hidden secrets and extra characters and fun levels, it's so good. Especially for how cheap it is.
    I would recommend this to anyone who like 3D platformers. My favorite levels are Palmtree Paradise, Sparkle Park, and Torch Tower. Pyro Palace, Hidden Headquarters, and Lunar Lasers and all very fun as well. The only level I don't like too much is Dash Dimension, but even that's enjoyable.
    The one problem is how short it is, I would gladly play 8 words and 40 courses of this, especially with all the replay value each level has. It's done very well, and I only wish there was more of it. Very good experience, would 100% recommend, and would 100% buy a third game!    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Much like the first game, this is a wonderfully-made blast to the past of PS1-era platformers, and for a single dollar? This is SO worth the purchase for any retro geek!

    Alright, taking off the "cheeky filter" for a moment, I don't think it is a controversial opinion to say that the intent of the first game was to provide a (admittedly cheap) surprise in the form of the "jumpscares" and other oddities in each level, while also being a pretty fun platformer. It's cute the first time around, but it does tend to wear thin after a while.

    That being said, this game subverts that by being actually enjoyable to replay, a testament the first game fails to hold as well as its sequel. The level design is tighter, and more enjoyable to navigate. While it is true a few environments are recycled from the first game, it's not as if the levels are exactly alike. Zelda is always set in Hyrule, and so there's always a Korok Forest, or a Goron Mountain, etc..

    Anyways, in general this game is a definitive upgrade to the first game, and is, in my opinion, better in every way. Good game, plus it's one dollar.    … Expand
