Join Killian and Eileen in a deadly journey through Esha and dive into its dark secrets through a lovecraftian rogue-lite with branching narrative and resource management.

When a dark cult abducts his sibling, there’s nothing else Killian can do but to comply with their demands. In order to save his sister he travels to the mysterious island of Esha - a place forgotten by even gods themselves, where the unspeakable ritual is about to take place.

Join Killian and Eileen in a deadly journey through Esha and dive into dark secrets of its inhabitants; try to navigate your way through the unknown territory with only a handful of hints that might lead you to a dangerous discovery about things that should have probably been consigned to oblivion...

Because there’s something dark and unspeakable, hidden in Esha’s stormy waves.

And it’s only natural that if you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back at you.

Theatre of Sorrows isn't worth your time. It's dressed up nicely with some good art and the occasional sinister moment to dwell on, but underneath that is little more than a basic resource management experience, with such egregious repetition through its "roguelike" elements that it becomes rote well before you've even finished the game for the first time. As a carefully-planned, linear and focused experience, Theatre of Sorrows could have been something creepy and evocative. Instead, it's like reading the same snippets of Lovecraft over and over again. Do that, and it doesn't take long at all for them to lose all meaning and value.

A Lovecraft-inspired visual novel with a few rogue-lite and heavy resource management elements that have a detrimental effect on the narrative and the general atmosphere.

It is a resource management game with a choose your own adventure style. Strong art style (similar to Darkest Dungeon) with an interesting occult storyline. Is a quick game but has replayability. There's no combat so if you're looking for that type of game this is not it.

I only wish there was a achievements section so we can see our progress of tailsmens, outfits, monsters and multiple endings. I struggled to find how many different endings there are but I think it's 5.

I'm looking forward to the next one!
