Good game and if you consider value for money (bought it for 3USD) great game! As a kid I played in Another World & Flashback. Here I have found similar climatic graphics & surounding with nice pixel art. Climatic music. Good mechanics. And most of all interesting and somehow emotional story.

I hope that developer of this game will give us more small games on the Switch :)

Wow. What a game. This game is a roller coaster of emotions. First of all the game looks stunning, it's detailed 16 bit art style will have you just staring and taking in the levels because of how georgous it is. It's clearly inspired by games like Another World which I personally don't have a problem with. The games story will have you interested and gripped from the start as it's soWow. What a game. The characters also have great development and make you really feel for them. Puzzle wise, it's mainly fairly simple puzzles but sometimes it can be frustrating but a simple YouTube search will solve that. The only bad thing about this game is that sometimes the controls can be a little frustrating in some puzzles like the mirror shield (I think it's called that).
This is easily one of my favourite games and I highly recommend you check this out. The best £1 I've ever spent.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just created a metacritic profile for the first time explicitly so I could leave a 10 out of 10 review for this game. It's more of an 8, or maybe 8.5. But it's definitely not a 6.

I realize- reading the previous reviews- that the version of the game that I played is perhaps a patched edition? I did not experience game breaking bugs in my playthrough.

I bought this game on sale in the Nintendo Store for about a buck fifty. It was a delight, and a steal. I have strong nostalgic memories of Another World that resonated in this game. Despite some, at times, odd audio-and-text dialogue, the story was compelling and immersive. And the puzzles were intermittently a breeze and challenging. I wouldn't call it a very difficult game, but there were a couple solid challenges. The world building, character design, music score, and overall style were each excellent. And I felt that from reading the other reviews, that the difficulty of Major Tom's controls/movements is greatly exaggerated. I found the game smooth. Plentiful save points balanced out easy and often accidental deaths, which were also often comical.

I would recommend this game to anyone. And I hope we learn more about the two characters at the end of the story that appear briefly in future games released by these developers.

Beautiful soundtrack, compelling story and awesome pixel art style. It has some glitches here and there that may force you to reset (i only had one happen to me. Tincan wouldn't follow me back to the village when reaching a certain part of a bridge), but fortunatel there are a lot of checkpoints scattered all around. Also it's very cheap to get on the Switch.

Immersive game with some of the very best pixel art out there. The story is reminiscent of classical science fiction and it has quite some (unobtrusive) world building to add to that. I like atmospheric games that do put effort into storytelling (e.g. point&click adventures), so The Way was interesting for me in the first place.

I like atmospheric games that do put effort into storytelling (e.g. point&click adventures), so The Way was interesting for me in the first place.

Gameplay consists mostly of puzzles and some action sections, and there is barely any repetitiveness in those; the whole game is varied and creative. I have played Another World, Flashback, Heart of Darkness, Oddworld, Blackthorne; but always lost interest after a few hours when these games became too repetitive. The Way is the first puzzle platformer that I have actually finished.

Difficulty and fairness issues, or most unclear puzzles of previous versions of this game seem to be fixed or improved in this remastered version. You may need to consult a walkthrough a few times nevertheless, but otherwise it is possible to get through well (do expect some nerve-racking sections though.. but checkpoints are frequent). The game breaking bug upon Switch release is fixed.

The ending was mildly, but not completely disappointing (you are still rewarded with beautiful new scenes) as it is rather foreseeable and doesn't respect the mystery that has been build up carefully before. Also it only mildly compensates for the sudden action sections you have to get through at the end, which will get unnerving due to the jumping controls that's accuracy do not exactly suit action.. Anyway, got through all these troubles and finished at 7 hours.

I really loved the game: the gameplay, the music, the story.

What I don't like about it is that the ending felt rushed and absolutely unsatisfying.

i found this game to be quite an adventure. It is a puzzle-plataformer with great puzzle solving and they're just hard enough to give a good challenge but not impossible. The story is very straight forward but it definitely intrigues you to want to finish it. I got it for $1.50 so if you can get at bargain price it's well worth it. All in all its a great indie game that you should add to your collection.

The Way is a beautiful, atmospheric experience with very good art and some clever and well-thought puzzles that give you a sense of accomplishment when you solve them. Those elements along with its feeling-evoking story engaged me, despite some mildly frustrating action-based parts.

The gameplay deserves an 8 or something but the story, oh man the story even though it isn't the most original in the world it surely is told the best way possible hitting deep. This game is a masterpiece in the genre of "cinematic plstformer".

The Way: Remastered definitely feels like a blast from the past. It has some of the aesthetic of the original Sierra "Quest" games, which I have a lot of nostalgia for, but plays more like Flashback, which I played only recently. Like the latter, it has kind of clunky controls which work perfectly well for the most part, but just aren't designed for the more action oriented sequences. You will die a lot from poor platforming controls, but the checkpoints are generous and respawn is pretty much instantaneous. Still it loses a few point for that.
Luckily, the puzzle design is on point and is just the right amount of challenge. On top of that, the story knocks it out of the park. It's really engrossing and well told and unfolds at the perfect pace.
if you like this type of story driven adventure, give The Way a shot. You won't regret it.

Dla mnie jest do dobra gra, ma swoją historię. Jest stylizowana na Another World, ale dobrze zrobiona. Przeszedłem ją całą chyba około 2 dni - więc jest wciągająca. Polecam.

Controls can be a little frustrating and some puzzles are not that intuitive, otherwise a fantastic puzzle/platformer game with both beatiful pixelart and soundtrack. The story may be simple but it is touching and overall the game is well worth its pricetag.

The ONLY thing that made my life real harder was the controls. Man.. Sometimes they just didn’t work. When you tried to jump or move many many times. I don’t think it was a bug issue, more of a game design choice, but it was annoying. Rather than that, EVERYONE that likes platform, puzzles and a nice story with a character with strong motive should play The Way. Expand

The Way Remastered isn't an experience you're going to forget in a while, but it would be markedly improved with more accurate controls. As such, it's more irritating than it is inspiring in its current form.

The Way Remastered introduces us a man who does not accept the death of the person he loves, and thanks to his experience working as an explorer and researcher, he believes he has found a way to resurrect his wife. The game does not arrive with an impeccable translation into Spanish, and there are small bugs that can complicate the experience of this adventure. However, the game is still an incredible experience that fans of puzzle games will love.

The story was interesting with captivating settings and gorgeous areas to explore. The game also featured a great audio design, with some voice acting accenting the strong background music. The puzzles were difficult but fair, and the sense of accomplishment created true highs. But between glitches and faulty control schemes, I found the game impossible to complete, and that makes it hard to recommend.
