Jun 10, 2020The Outer Worlds is a fantastic game, and the Nintendo Switch port is no exception. Despite significantly weaker hardware, the Switch port holds up admirably and will no doubt provide you countless hours of top-shelf gameplay and outer space hijinks.
-
Jun 29, 2020Switch is definitely not the best platform for it, but the gameplay is still good and the Obsidian writing team is still top-notch.
-
Jun 4, 2020The graphics and performance take a hit on Switch; that’s obvious. If you can get past that, The Outer Worlds offers amazing characters, meaningful sidequests, and incredible freedom to the player — all of which remain fully intact on Nintendo Switch. It’s simply a must-play for RPG lovers.
-
Jun 4, 2020The Switch version of The Outer Worlds is pure role-playing on the go: at the price of some low-res textures, you can take a whole galaxy with you wherever you want.
-
Nintendo Force MagazineAug 29, 2020The Outer Worlds is a must-play for fans of choice-driven sci-fi roleplaying games. That said, it's hard to recommend the Switch port. [Issue #47 – July/August 2020, p. 68]
-
Jun 24, 2020The transition of The Outer Worlds to the Switch is a decent one. All the content and dark humor are still there. The gameplay pretty well in handheld mode despite the Joy-Cons aren't particularly well equipped to handle a First Person Shooter. The game suffers from popups and load times, but nothing unbearable. Overall a decent package, especially for those who want to play on the go. If you plan to mostly play docked, you might want to check out one of the other platforms.
-
Jun 4, 2020While definitely a downgrade, The Outer Worlds remains an incredible game, made even better by the prospect of portability.
-
Jun 4, 2020The Outer Worlds is a hugely entertaining "Fallout-in-space"-style RPG adventure filled with wonderfully vibrant locations, excellent companions, zippy and hilariously brutal combat and a ton of well-written characters to meet as you attempt to save the colony of Halcyon. Virtuos has made the expected tweaks to graphics in order to keep things as smooth as possible with this Switch port and, although things can look and feel a little rough in docked mode, in handheld this is a supremely enjoyable experience that's entertained us just as much this time around as when we played it at launch, and comes highly recommended to fans of the genre.
-
Jun 4, 2020The Outer Worlds comes to Nintendo Switch with some neat new gameplay features and a sweet balance between graphics and performance.
-
Jun 4, 2020The Outer Worlds can be ugly and choppy at times on Switch, but you can play this massive, complex game on a handheld. It’s up to choose whether you prefer a portable or better experience, as the adventure itself is great.
-
Jun 4, 2020It's terribly damaged in the graphical department. Even so, its great story and engaging gameplay values make The Outer Worlds a really interesting voyage, all things considered.
-
Jun 4, 2020The Outer Worlds on Nintendo Switch is a really good game but also a bad porting. Frequently technical issues, bad frame rate and graphic settings set on low.
-
Jun 4, 2020The Outer Worlds on Switch is a good port of a great game. Some of the graphical fidelity is lost, but a strong art direction and excellent writing make this version worth picking up.

Jun 4, 2020But even the "great for portable play" sales pitch suffers from a big issue: Obsidian has opted not to include any form of cloud-save support. You can't transfer your progress from the Switch version to any other console or PC version, or vice versa. (This pales in comparison to cloud-save support for the likes of Witcher 3 and Divinity: Original Sin 2.) And that makes the visual downgrades much tougher to suggest for anyone who owns other ways to play this game at home.
-
Jun 5, 2020The Outer Worlds is not at its best on Switch, since the visuals and performance take a serious hit on the system. The textures, framerate, lighting, and more have been downgraded to run on the hardware.
-
Jun 4, 2020It does run, and if you can tolerate this reduced level of performance it’s certainly worth playing. As with Doom and The Witcher 3 before it, while the Switch port may be far from the best version of The Outer Worlds, it’s impressive that we’re able to experience this scale of game on a portable system at all.

Jun 5, 2020This port is so poor that it shouldn't be allowed to be realese! Did not expect it to be this bad.
