An instant classic - this game is better than BOTW. It takes its predecessor and puts it on steroids. Everything is bigger, better and more refined; the world, the story, the mechanics, the enemies, the freedom, the combat, the music, the puzzles, the atmosphere.

This is an advert for the world of gaming, and shows what an incredibly talented group of people can do if they put their mind

This is an advert for the world of gaming, and shows what an incredibly talented group of people can do if they put their mind to it. Very few things being made in this day and age can compare to this game, and it should serve as an inspiration to other game creators with the example it sets.

I think the people who are complaining about performance have lost their way a bit in gaming... gaming is about enjoying a fantastically made game, not complaining about graphics this and framerate that. Besides - I have had no problems with performance, and the art style is stunning (played in docked mode so far). The magic that Nintendo has pulled out of the bag is timeless, and will go down as another one of the greats - to the envy of other studios!

This game managed to be better than the first one in every way for me. First was an 8/10 for me and this one is 10/10. I also think that if you didn't enjoy the first one, you should still look into getting this one because it is a lot different

The game is just a brilliant example of what a sequel should be like, and also what the world of gaming without dreadful microtransactions should be like.

Expand

6 years to copy and paste BOTW. Oh my God, Nintendo just destroyed my illusions.

The first 2 hours of the game are exactly the same as BOTW. But THE SAME! Same story, same steps (even the snow part and the tedious cooking). Hyrule is, again, the same map. So it changes from "I'm going to enjoy discovering the map of Hyrule" to "Oh my god, again the same map and this tedious towers

The weapons. In BOTW there vere some very nice weapons. Here you have to craft very stupid weapons with rocks and other things. They ruined the weapons scheme.

I've been playing for 10 hours and I don't know if I wanna play more just to walk for hours in the same scenarios, mountains and lakes.

Finally, the switch. This game should have been launched with a new Switch. Simply the console is too old to decently run TOTK.

    A deception, in all senses.

I have zero complaints about this game and the world is familiar but it still feels like a whole new world. This game meets expectations with flying colors and it raises the bar. Nintendo hearf almost every complaint they got from Breath of the Wild and they fixed the problem in creative ways!

An almost complete retelling of BotW. Same prologue, same progress, same story for a 5 year old, almost identical map, ... TotK does not revolutionize anything.

Impossible to adjust the size and color of subtitles, impossible to individually adjust the volume of sound tracks (music, voice, sound effects), ...

Nintendo doesn't give a damn about the comfort of players, especially players with disabilities. It's an absolute shame in 2023. And it's even more shameful to see the media around the world saying nothing about this unconscionable lack.

I can't believe that a game like this was made. The only people that could achieve this were at Nintendo.

Not an enjoyable experience 720p 30 fps sometimes less depending on whats happening on screen. Combat is laughable. Graphics are extremely outdated. Not worth $70. Wait for it to go on sale. Nintendo is hilarious trying to charge $70 for this game.

Nintendo made what is seemingly impossible: they managed to make the same world fun to explore again. Speaking of the world, the only thing left unchanged is the general geography. Each location is filled with tons of new content. And the way you explore was changed greatly. New abilities give you so much freedom and diversity of exploration. Time-to-time gameplay is extremely fun and greatly improved from BoTW. Fuse ability brings combat to the next level, giving you complete freedom over your arsenal. The sheer amount of possibilities of weapons you can create is mind-blowing. Ultrahand ability is an extremely powerful tool when it comes to exploration and puzzle solving. Even Ascend, seemingly the most simple ability you have, is actually very useful and is used way more often than you can imagine. The only problem with this game is performance. This game is another reminder that the Switch is 6 years old. Even Nintendo themselves can't make games run flawlessly on their own console. If Breath of The Wild had rare FPS drops at specific places, like the Korok Forest, framerate drops in Tears of The Kingdom occur way more often and it's noticeable. Overall, this game is a great fun that will be relevant, referenced and looked up to over the years, just like BoTW was. Expand

It's crazy what Nintendo can get away with even in 2023. Zelda: ToTK has no accessibility options whatsoever. Furthermore, the game uses the exact same world from the previous Zelda (BoTW) and the same combat, which makes the whole experience feels very similar without any significant changes. ToTK is nothing but an expansion to BoTW with few Quality of Life changes. I must also note that the game has absolutely poor performance and outdated graphics. It will dip below 20 frames (FPS) a lot. As well as a big portion of ToTK just feels dull, especially the early hours.

it boggles my mind this game is getting glowing 10/10s despite all of its flaws. Very dishonest review process we're seeing nowadays from critics. Any other game would have been slammed for these flaws, but because it's Zelda and a Nintendo game, we see excuses like "it's an old hardware" even though the hardware has nothing to do with the options. And it's Nintendo's mistake not releasing a more powerful console in 2023. They should be criticized for this, not let them get away with it constantly. Somehow their games are just held to different forgiving standards and excuses that we don't see applied to other games AT ALL.

Bottom line: if you didn't enjoy Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you will certainly not enjoy Tears of the Kingdom as it is very similar and uses many of BoTW's assets. Game doesn't deserve its 70$ price tag whatsoever.

Too similar to the first, a $10 increase for a few extra activities, Sony or XBOX were charged very badly if a sequel happens to be very similar (not to mention any chance of it being GOTY), the subjective game for Nintendo fans are welcome, objectively the maximum level has already been reached at BOTW, here it is only fanaticism and nonsense praise.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
