This game had a lot to live up to for me, since BOTW is my favourite video game ever. And it sure did.
I could probably write an entire thesis on why this game is a masterpiece, but honestly it wouldn't do it justice so I will just say that you have to play it.

Easily one of my top 10 games of all time. Everyone assumed it would be the same map as BOTW with a new story, but it's so, so much more than that. Everything that was great about BOTW was tuned expertly and (almost) everything annoying was fixed. The ending is much more satisfying than BOTW also. Highly recommended.

You know it's good when hours just disappear off the clock for you. I started at 3pm the other day and looked up for the first time expecting 30min to have gone by. WRONG! Two hours had gone by. I'm loving it thus far, but I've only scratched the surface. Don't believe the naysayer red reviews. Not sure what childhood trauma they went through, but it wasn't BOTW's or TOTK's fault. Grow down!

What a journey. Makes BOTW feel like a tech demo. Beautifully made game, gigantic adventure that you're not going to forget anytime soon. As someone that thought BOTW was lacking something, this game is a 10/10

If I don't give this game a perfect score, I think the good games I've been playing so far should be a good 7 point game.

Really loved this one! The main reason I don't give a 10 is for the fact that the game don't even hold a steady 30 fps on the Switch. I was basically forced to put the Switch away and play the game on PC.
Also, I don't think Nintendo should do a Zelda game with mumblings instead of voiceovers in 2023, and the lack of a Portuguese translation is just dumb! I can play it in English no

I was concerned this game would just be more BOTW, but it’s fresh and fun! Then opening cut scenes are exciting. Some say the first few hours are slow, but I needed that because I haven’t played BOTW in five years, so I had to relearn the controls again.

As much as the world, the gameplay and everything is outstanding, the main narrative is simply boring and repetitive. It really took all my motivation to do all dungeons. You are force to follow characters that are locked into scripted sequence and interact 4-5 locks every time.

But the pain is worth, the ending is satisfying.

While the graphics partially improved (when the resolution is not tanked and you just see a blurry mess due to switch limitations), how the world and puzzles has been designed lead to a world that is always a different alternative to a cohesive one, so you will rarely be able to explore in a pragmatic way.

You ends up bouncing around 3 or more different levels, and to be honest the lowest one is just ugly - yea the phasma comes from underground but when you play it seems they just added it because Elden Ring got one, no other reason up to the end.
What happens is that the world is so uninteresting and the exploration so interrupted that I would continue playing again the first game for the 2nd time - as I was doing - then going on with this.
Everything is an alternative of what was great, powers included. The only exception is "ascension", but I really would like bombs, glacius and the other set.
The attempt of copyrighting physics and basic actions should deserve a 0 but it would not respect the game quality.
Not Diablo 4 delusion level, but to me it is still a delusion

Tears of the Kingdom massively increases the standard open world games should be held to. It takes all of the ideals of its predecessor and runs with them to the absolute limit, all while maintaining a small file size on an underpowered console.

I am talking specifically about the music, world, storytelling, art style ect, and especially the story, characters, and dungeons, and the foundation elements of gameplay like shrines koroks points of interest monsters, they differ remarkably little from the first game, REMARKABLY little. As in, they are exactly the same as the first game. When I was growing up new zelda games were extremely different from one another, they were avenues for creativity. The new gameplay features are extremely clever and awesome and based on those alone you cannot say this is anything less than a 10/10 experience... but why have they used the same music, exact same worldmap, same storyline, same method of story delivery, and same crappy dungeons. Why have they kept the same gameplay loop and the same empty feel of the world, the same mechanic for everything in the game. It just seems incredibly lazy or shortsighted for a team that is so obviously immensly talanted at game design. They remembered to design the game, but they forgot that games are art and need to be unique. This is Breath of the wild 2, but most of the game is just Breath of the wild still, I would say that a large part of what you will be doing in the game is the same old gameplay loop, which for an open world game that is as large as this, gets old pretty fast the second time around... on the same map... with the same music... and the same boiler plate story with cheesy voice acting and terrible story delivery. If the game hadnt settled on the same music, art, gameplay and story by simply adding new things on top of another game that has already existed for years it would have had a far greater impact, it would be a 10 without question, but this is not a new game, it is new stuff addition for Breath of the wild, so for that it is getting a slightly dissapointing 7. Its lazy, really it is. They have an immense wealth of incredible games to draw on for inspiration, they are standing on the shoulders of giants, but from a creative standpoint they have just chosen to put a new hat and trousers on breath of the wild. For first timers it must be incredible, but I am not a first timer so: 7
    - good game, great new mechanics, fun, original
    - unoriginal, minimal changes, simplistic for anyone who isnt new

If I had a gripe- it would simply be that I wish there was more in the sky, and that the story was less meaty and comprehensive (though still very well written) than that of Age of Calamity, though that admittedly feels like an unfair comparison.

An incremental game compared to BotW, Nintendo listened to no feedback here and did their own thing.

That's good and bad, but when it's bad it's really bad. Main plot is boring and poorly conveyed, quests are contrived and convoluted so often you think... But I already know what to do just let me do it... Weapons constantly break, everything is a grind. Occasional bugs nothing game

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
