It's amazing how this game manages to surprise and improve the formula of its predecessor in a wonderful way. Nintendo proves to us that there's nothing good that can't get even better.

I think it an amazing game. but i does have some flaws. i don't like the dungeons is too similar to the divine besets from BOTW. and i don't like that the debility system has not been fixed and i know we have fuse. but the weapons still break and you to find a new one. but overall a amazing game. and Utra hand i amazing i love playing with it. and also love the depth it really fun to explore.

Legend of Zelda tears of the kingdom is truly the sequel to breath of the wild. It allows creativity in every puzzle and battle. I got close but never in the times that I failed did it feel like the game’s fault. It was my fault for not thinking strategically enough or just needing a few more arrows. I am far from beating this game, but I spent almost 20 hours playing and I got it three days ago. I stayed up playing longer than I’d like to admit. Get the game you won’t regret it. Expand

Though I would confidently bet my life's savings on Tears of the Kingdom winning game of the year, I did rate it only 9/10, because one very large and important area of the game (If you've played it, you can probably guess) clearly doesn't live up to its full potential, often feeling repetitive and empty. But despite that, I still thoroughly enjoy every aspect of this game.

Practically a masterpiece in every way, the creativity allowed in this game is literally endless, and the exploration is way more varied than Breath of the Wild. My only criticism is some of the voice acting (some un-synced English dubs, Matt Mercer was PERFECT, but I don’t want to ever hear Yunobo utter another word), and the temples were a little short. From the start of the tutorial area, to the overworld, story and gameplay, you really do feel like you're playing the exact same game, with a few tweaks and new gimmicks.

It took Nintendo 6(!) years to develop this game, which you should really count as DLC, and not a new game in it's own.

I lost interest about 2/3 into it, because the magic I felt playing Botw in 2017, just isn't present here anymore. I genuinely hope others can find more enjoyment with it than I, but for me it feels like a chore unfortunately..

However, seeing people around me playing it and having a blast made me give it a try and I'm glad I did. -most- of the shrines are fun and challenging, dungeons are short but creative, building contraptions is an open gate for player creativity, without mention the excellent physics mechanic. I don't care very much for the story as it is just a remix of the same legend of Zelda formula (that can be good or bad depending one one's perspective) and the characters can be vastly generic.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Legend of Zelda Tears Of the Kingdom is one of the greatest games to ever release. Many games give open world freedom so you can do whatever you please, but this game goes beyond that in so many ways. You can fuse whatever you want to you weapons. Meat sword? You got it! Spear spear? I guess if you want. You can go on with so many combinations whether you want them to be hilarious or seriously powerful. Another this g you can do in this game is using ultrahand to connect objects together. You can make insane vehicles, go to the sky barrier (I tried it), make homing laser robots. The possibilities are infinite! I personally like connecting tons of rockets to vehicles so that they go super fast. The story itself isn't extraordinary, but decent, but the model for ganondorf is beautiful, the cutscenes can be very impressive for a switch game, and the final dragon battle is a super climactic ending (although the battle isn't very fun). I do think that Zelda getting undraconified at the end is kind of weak and makes the plot less meaningful, but it's a minor issue. Another detail is the amiibos. The new link amiibo does not have impressive drops at all, but the other amiibos give paraglider fabrics which are very nice additions which add lots of fun to your gameplay I personally like the windwaker one and the demon king one. Another thing I like is that you don't need to rely on amiibos and RNG to get the armor from other games. They are located in the depths underneath hyrule. The depths are actually really fun to explore. Even though they're stressful at first, you eventually find your way around. I currently have 102/120 lightroots. Anyways I think that the legend of Zelda tears of the kingdom is an excellent game and is up to par with ocarina of time and link to the past. Expand

That said, my score is 8My initial review of this game was based on the starting content of Tears of the Kingdom which is a definite improvement on the previous title. However, since then I've become aware of the game's many faults of which a couple are pretty severe. This isn't to say TotK is a bad game, it's absolutely one of the best games to come out, but it's far from perfect. That said, my score is 8 because the gameplay mechanics are phenomenal; this is best gameplay I've experienced, but I need to talk about the game's faults because they're really bad.

    1) The worst offense this game makes is that which all media and culture should strive to avoid: numbness of emotions.

In a story about the impending end of the world because the Demon King had be reborn, his minions mustering their might, and all the peoples of the world fighting for their lives the story chooses revolve around archeology into an ancient people who were so hedonistic that they didn't even create art. The Zonai are not master warriors, nor mystical wizards, they were lazy people who had their every need looked after by robots... In a game when the main villain is not famine, overwork, or disease, but a war. The Zonai were undone because they were lazy and didn't heed the warnings of people far more knowledgeable of the current threat that they needed to prepare for war. It turns out the people of the current time were far more suited to combating the threat than the Zonai were because all the current time people are warriors.

I stepped into this game thinking the Zonai were mystical god-warriors, but what I found was that the Zonai were boring. Nobody in the current time of the story could use anything to fix their current ailments from the Zonai; because their problems aren't automation related. They don't need to relax; they need to stand and fight, but they're already capable. So why do the game's people take such interest in this lazy forgettable culture? Everything is a dull lime green or white with the Zonai and everything is either a robot or a gadet; they had no culture. Their history was frolicking in the gardens... How are a people staring down the very reincarnation of death supposed to be so enthralled about that they forgo fighting for their lives?

    2) You get followers in this game that have unique abilities, but for some ungodly reason activating it is the same button you use to interact with objects in the world. Yes, I rank this as almost as high as total tone deafness, because in this game items you get from slaying enemies is EVERYTHING. You cannot fight in this game unless you pick up enemy drops. How does this matter, well not to spoil anything, but a few of the followers you get have extremely useful abilities... That so happen to destroy or remove the very items that are the only way to progress in the game. Additionally, these followers decide that they just NEED to walk straight into you every single second of the day. You cannot interact with the world if these followers are following you. You literally have to desummon your followers, which is locked behind a massive menu, in order to be able to pick things up without destroying them. You wouldn't think this would be the most fun destroying thing ever, but in this game, when enemy items are literally your only method of survival, it gets really old really quick.

Alright, so I've talked about the game's downsides, let me talk about what this game does well:
-If you see something interesting, go to it. You'll get a reward. Not a unique reward, but a guaranteed reward of some sort.
-This game is so good at basic exploration, I say basic because oh my god does it fall flat on environmental story telling- the last game was excellent at it by the way, that you can mark an objective and not reach it for several real-world days. Saying this game is full of things to discover doesn't do it justice. There is only discovery in this game, but it's going to be of the same bland things: re-spawning resource nodes, golden poop, and golden orbs. That's it.
-Combat. Surprisingly, this game's combat is actually really good if you try to exploit it. The whole game's premise is that you should try to cheat... And cheating the combat is REALLY fun. Actual cheats are being patched out, so technically, if you find a nifty work around that makes the game more fun, and the combat more exciting, it's technically intended, but it feels like cheating and it's a great feeling.
-Puzzles. Again, the whole game is built around cheating around the game's challenges, so feel free to try to cheat through the game. That's what it's made for, and holy cow does it deliver. These puzzles are the best puzzles in gaming... And that's WITH "cheating," because nothing's truly cheating unless it's patched out. They've understood their own systems VERY well, and have balanced things so that you have to learn a new "cheat" to get through the game when it's time to learn.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement.
