    The Last Spell is a fun and complicated tactical RPG. The gameplay alternates between building components and turn-based fighting, providing plenty to do here. It’s a lot to take in, especially initially, but there’s plenty of fun (and horror) to be had.

    It is difficult to score The Last Spell, because it's a game that does so much so well, from the music to the game balance to charming writing. If you can wrap your head around the counter-intuitive controls — which an eventual patch will hopefully sort out — there is plenty for tactical RPG fans to sink their teeth into. We enjoyed our time with the game, but the hasty feel of the Switch port keeps the game from reaching its full potential, though.

    The Last Spell is another example of a really good game that is brought down a bit on Switch by a few small but significant issues. While its roguelite-meets-tactical RPG gameplay is a real winner, the fussy controls mean that it’s very cumbersome to do the things you want to do. It’s a game I would definitely encourage folks to check out, and if the Switch is the only way you can do so, then that’s just how it is. But if you have a computer, you’re almost certainly better off hitting it up over there.

    Excellent game of those unknown indies that should be better known in this world and others too,

    Music: excellent, piano, rock, metal, well thought out for the occasion and for each moment of the game, it is not a tiring soundtrack or one that gets boring or tiresome.

    Graphics: Attractive pixel art, very colorful, beautiful effects on abilities, avatar or character customization, quite attractive neon and psychedelic colors, imposing final bosses with a masterful color palette.

    Difficulty: Challenger, starting soft and building up night by night, wave by wave, defense by defense; becoming a great challenge that makes you rethink your strategies, but not impossible (don't be scared).

    Playability and Fun: Very assured, strategy lovers cannot pass up this delicacy, it is not only a tower defense but it goes further, being a turn-based tactical rpg, with varied options in weapons, under construction, the Strategy Isn't About Just Being Stronger forces you to approach strategy from several different angles such as strength, building, positioning, synergies, abilities, etc.

    Amaaaazing game. I couldn't put my switch down!

    Controls can be hard to understand at first, but gameplay and soundtrack is bonkers good!
