If you're looking for a wacky and colourful competitive puzzler that can be enjoyed by casual and hardcore gamers alike then Sushi Striker is a solid experience. Just don't expect it to be as fulfilling as consuming 100 plates of raw fish.

If you are looking for a charming and damn right silly plot, and you don’t mind paying a little more for your puzzle action to have it on the Switch, then I feel you will certainly find a lot to like with Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido and its captivating bizarre world of sushi eating puzzle combat.

Sushi Striker suffers only one major concern on Nintendo Switch; it is not suitable for gaming in the living room and on a big screen. Designed to be tactile, the best way to play it will be in nomadic mode. This problem aside, we are in front of a good puzzle game that has been carefully developed by Indieszero. A great way to kill time.

Featuring puzzles based on sushi dishes and tactic elements to fight opponents, Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido brings a wide variety of content, very appealing visuals and a completely zany plot, which sometimes feels like it drags itself for too long, while its online community is way too small.

A pretty good puzzle game without new ideas, but fun after all.

An enjoyable puzzle adventure with an excess of charm behind its silly characters and lovable premise. However, its lacklustre presentation and 3DS origins mean the overall package suffers on Nintendo Switch. It simply doesn’t look very good, which is detrimental for a puzzler so reliant on its outlandish world.

Your first impressions of Sushi Striker probably won’t do enough justice to the surprising depth hidden within. While it can feel derivative of the genre at times, there really is a great hook hidden in the core systems.

Despite its imperfect transition to Switch, Sushi Striker is one of the more enjoyable puzzle games in the console's library. With a substantial campaign that's propped up by clever mechanics and a charmingly ludicrous story, the game offers a wealth of single- and multiplayer content to dive into. The controls suffer a bit in the move to Switch, and the campaign is stretched out for too long, but the fast-paced puzzle-matching gameplay offers a surprising amount of depth and is a real treat.

A relatively original and enjoyably bizarre puzzler, that seems more at home on 3DS than Switch but still offers plenty of seafood-themed fun for everyone.

While its premise is absurd, Sushi Striker's core action/puzzle mechanics are undeniably fun and initially addictive. It wears a little thin though, with the campaign becoming laborious well before it comes to an end. Thankfully the multiplayer is superb, and is a perfect fit for both the 3DS and the Switch.

A fun, fast, frantic puzzle matching game that hopefully won’t frustrate you to the point you want to throw your Switch like one of the game’s plates.

Sushi Striker: The Way of the Sushido has all of the trademarks of an inventive Nintendo title, including its odd but bold story, memorable characters, and easy to pick up gameplay. Unfortunately, once you bite into it, the experience isn’t as developed as it could have been. There’s an attempt to expand on the action-puzzler format, and while some of the choices work, there are some ingredients that make the entire meal less than satisfying.

Nintendo tries to make a step forward in mobile type experiences but does not satisfy everything we could have expected after finishing the story. Gameplay mechanics are fun, but the game lacks the appeal of other puzzle-RPG games we've seen before.

Sushi Striker is a fun and inventive puzzle game bogged down by some iffy controls and a very repetitive structure.

If you are looking for a bit of light-hearted fun or are a big puzzle game fan, Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido might be a worthwhile investment for you. If you are looking for a deeply engrossing game that will pull you in for hours, maybe give it a miss.

It almost works better in a straight TV show format than it does as a deep puzzler with RPG elements.

Despite its engaging story and charming characters, Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido undergoes a significant setback when you take its gameplay and controls into consideration.

An eccentric action puzzle game sits a little uneasily in this full-fat package.

Sushi Striker: The Way of the Sushido is the sort of game that may get trampled in the run-up to E3, but in five years is going to be seen as some kind of ludicrous masterpiece. Get ahead of the curve and pick it up at launch tomorrow.

An actual mobile game that is on the Switch for way too much money. Should have been $10 at most.

I picked this game up, taking a gamble, and I have been nothing less than impressed. The art style is crisp, the gameplay is fast and incredibly fun, and the music is appropriate. This is a perfect "pick up and play" puzzle game that is easy to start, with a lot of depth to discover. I truly believe this will be a hidden gem for the Switch, but hope that other players will give it a chance. There is a free demo on the eShop, I implore you....at least give the demo a try, it doesn't cost anything. Full Review »

It's not a piece of art, although it has a fun, light-hearted and creative plot, but that's okay: this game is not made to be taken seriously. It's not the big single-player epic, but it's a near flawless action-RPG-puzzler videogame, and it fits the switch fantastically. This game, whatsoever, is not for everyone, but for those who enjoy it, it's a masterpiece. Since there hasn't really been any game like this before, I recommend anyone interested to check the free demo in the Nintendo Switch EShop( although personally I think the 3DS version is superior in almost every way besides graphics). A common complaint among people who haven't played the game is the price, but this game is well worth 50 Dollars. I've played the game non-stop(14 hours), and I'm about 20% in the story mode. There is also online play, beautiful graphics and a concept never found in any game before. (It has nothing to do with bad Match-3 mobile games). Full Review »
