    *Complete review edit* They fixed it!!! Looks gorgeous in docked mode and runs so much more smooth! The game itself is amazing and I love that it features references from (much better) earlier seasons of the show. It's a nice little trip down memory lane and the people who ported this cared enough to fix it. Thank you!!

    A certain freshness has been rekindled into this game I hadn’t played since I was very little. Now that I am experiencing it again, I have a deep respect for Purple Lamp Studios for remastering this game with passion and attention to its more hardcore fans. Playing almost exactly like it’s original version, I enjoy the tidbits and fixes added to each level. Although there are some problemsA certain freshness has been rekindled into this game I hadn’t played since I was very little. Although there are some problems with frame rate and controller input, these issues did not hinder my score of the game as I know they will be fixed with time. Overall this was a great game to get back into, my thank you to the developers and I can only hope that the movie game may be remastered as well.… Expand

    Сюжет: не буду спойлерить, но скажу что это лучший сюжет на данный момент за всю историю игровой индустрии.
    Персонажи: в каждого персонажа вложена душа, видно что ребята с PLS старались.
    Сенди это лучший женский персонаж в играх, если другие персонажи женского пола были добавлены в игру только чтобы на них дрочили то в Сенди выложили душу.
    Патрик и Спанч Боб это просто пример какими должны быть мужские персонажи, в отличие от других игр в которых мужских персонажей добавляют потому что тупые феменисты им это говорят, в эту игру их добавляли намеренно и я скажу PLS не прогадали.
    Геймплей: я не верю что в играх может быть настолько крутой геймплей, я как-то оторвался от екрана чтобы написать этот пост, это 12/10 Визуал и графика: визуал этой игры шикарный это какой то некс ген, а если добавить графику которая очень подходит игре то будет просто топовая картинка!
    Единственная претензия к PLS, это то что такой труд не может так мало стоить.
    Я купил купил два раза эту игру и ни разу не пожалел! Вывод игра шедевр лучше ваших ведьмаков и ласт оф асов.    … Expand

    My childhood has returned!

    If you've played this game back in middle school then it's the same game as before. All the collectables are still the same. Plot points, music, locations, platforming, etc. This is as faithful of a remake as possible. The textures are uprezed to modern times. And, while the lines are the exact same, the voice actors were hired to redo their lines with the    My childhood has returned!

And, while the lines are the exact same, the voice actors were hired to redo their lines with the exception of Mermaidman and Mr. Krabs who have new voice actors. Overall this game is purely for nostalgia sake and I feel like a kid again playing this. If you never got a chance to play this try and tone down expectations for this. I know us fans have praised this so much you'd think it was the only game we ever played. But this is still a 2002 game with better textures. It's still holds up even by today's standards.

    Saddly the Switch version is not as good as the others. Of course we would expect that given the power of the Switch. But it feels like they built the game with modern consoles in mind and after they were done they just downrezed the game to switchs standards. Texture and full model popin are abundant depending on the zone. The hub world feels like it chugs below 30 frames. Zones like kelp forest and flying Dutchman also suffer from too-much-on-screenitus. But these are not consitant and they are still fully playable after they finish loading in.

    However the level that suffers the most from this is sand mountain as sliding down the ramp creates this fog of war effect no more than 50 ft infront of you and the hazards popin sometimes right when you're on top of them. The level is winnable but expect tons of failures and frustration in this. This level needs more attention and pronto. Completely unacceptable. However, for the asking value of $30 this is the correct pricing in my opinion. Anymore and I'd say wait for a sale. The game is totally beatable even with sand mountain being what it is. For those looking for that nostalgia trip this is definitely worth the buy.

    For the rest if you love platformers this is a great buy. If not I'd wait for a sale on the eshop. This is THQNORDIC so they'll probably put it on sale within the month.    … Expand

    Remember playing this game back on the GameCube and loving it back then. Playing it again relighted my love for this game. Critics clearly don’t like to play fun games.

    i had the chance to play it and gotta say it looks amazing really pays homage to the original in a big way and hoping some of these patches iron out a few of the problems it has like a few bugs camera inverts at certain times which can be annoying this game for me is a solid 9/10 don’t listen to the dumb ole critics

    First video game i ever played on my brand new gamecube in 2004, seeing it in HD is a blessing. The devs put so much love and care and fan input into this game and it truly is a treasure

    This games has wonderful graphics, even though the framerate is a bit low on the nintendo switch. But that's to be expected on the switch, otherwise you should prefer to play on ps4, xbox one or pc. It brings back the fealing from 2003 and is a wonderful example of what licensed games are capable of. For platforming fans a must play. Thanks THQ Nordic and Purple Lamp Studios.

    Honestly just a very fun game throughout. The challenges are fun and fulfilling to complete. The platforming and movement is tight. The visuals are spectacular. True to the original while fixing problems and bugs with the original. The best example of what a Remake should be.

    One of the best games ever, a port of a timeless classic from PS2 era. Yes, it runs not perfectly on the Switch, but for amount of content in this game, it's truly amazing how devs can accomplish that on a weak Switch hardware. Easily one of the best 3D platformers and one of the best games in 2020. Way better than The Last of Us Part 2.

    A perfect example of a great remaster. This game was my childhood. I have to say it does justice in every way. I love the enhanced graphics. And it is exactly how I remembered it when I was little. I couldn't be more happier with this remaster!

    God just having childhood nostalgia with the old playstation 2 version of this game had me hooked for this revamped title. A HUGE gem with the cheesy writing to how it plays it’s something you have to play to understand why its so fun!

    This is a game that is near and dear to my heart. My family has had it since, I'd like to say, 2004 or so and I've loved playing it ever since. This was once of my favorite games growing up, and to see that so many people agreed with me just filled me with so much joy that you wouldn't believe it. When this remaster was announced, I was hyped beyond belief to find out that one of myThis is a game that is near and dear to my heart. My family has had it since, I'd like to say, 2004 or so and I've loved playing it ever since. This was once of my favorite games growing up, and to see that so many people agreed with me just filled me with so much joy that you wouldn't believe it. When this remaster was announced, I was hyped beyond belief to find out that one of my childhood games was getting a complete HD overhaul; all I had to do was wait until June 23rd and see what it was like.

    Thankfully, it didn't disappoint. BFBB is just as fun to play nowadays as it was to play back in the early 2000s, and this remaster helped solidify that fact tremendously. The environments are lush and varied, the music is top-notch, and the dialogue is amazing as it's always been. It was great revisiting this timeless classic with a brand-new coat of paint.

    However, this remake does have its flaws. The graphics, particularly on the Nintendo Switch, can be a tad... incomplete at times. for example, some effects like the floor breaking in the Downtown Bikini Bottom lighthouse just aren't there, and they just pop out like a game from the N64 days. It's jarring, but it only happens a few times throughout the game. Another complaint I have is that, despite the original cast reprising their roles to record new voice clips, the team still somehow couldn't get Clancy Brown to provide a new voice for Mr. Krabs. The actor of both Krabs and Mermaid Man in the game, Joe Whyte, does a good job as both of those characters, but while I understand recycling voice clips for Mermaid Man as Ernest Borgnine passed away in 2012, it simply confuses me as to why Clancy Brown couldn't come in and voice one of his most recognizable characters.

    Unfortunately, my complaints delve into the gameplay as well. Movement in general is much heavier and slower compared to the 2003 original, which makes platforming more difficult than it needs to be. There are also moments with Patrick and Sandy that are just much more awkward than before, such as Patrick's targeting being a tad unwieldy and Sandy controlling radically different compared to 2003.

    However, the pros outweigh the cons for me. The world is still beautifully designed, the respect for the source material shines through brilliantly, and the game as a whole is a fantastic experience that any fan of SpongeBob SquarePants simply MUST play. This remaster shows that even after 17 years, Battle for Bikini Bottom is still a timeless classic.    … Expand

    This game is pretty fun, mostly if you’ve played the original. On the switch version there are a couple of weird unloaded textures but they will probably fix that in a later update. If you don’t want to play this game portable I would recommend Xbox or pc instead, but if you want a good portable experience this version is the best

    If you didn’t play the original game, this is a remastered version of that classic collectathon from 2003, plankton created robots, its up to you to save bikini bottom… and rehydrated feels an looks just like I remembered it as a kid… beautiful colors, great and imaginative level design, cgolden spatulas and socks hidden all over the place really incetivizing you to explore.. and even more, every level here has its own feel to it.. theyre all so memorable and the game does a great job of throwing new and different types of challenges at you, giving you new abilitites as you defeat bosses and progress through the game, again adding more and varied level design opportunites… ontop of this, the humour youd expect from a spongebob episode, and all of your favorite characters, a variety of levels, all of which you can play as spongebob and depending on the level youll be able to play as Patrick or sandy as well, all with their own play and feel, adding again to the lelvel variety… sadly though, as a complete remake, the mechanics stay the same in a good and bad way.. all in all there are no major flaws to how the original played or feeled, but it would’ve been appreciated if the character switching was upgraded to todays standards.. aka being a little more instant rather than back tracing to bus stops when you run into a switch or object only Patrick or sandy can interact with… but this is literally this games only gameplay flaw.. even the camera problems have been fixed from the original.. which makes the once challenging boss battles a walk through the park.. as youre fighting just the boss.. not the camera too… the only other flaw rehydrated has is its voice actors.. more specifically mr krabs and mermaid man.. everyone else is fine.. but these two characters in particular really broke the immersion for me and took me out of the world.. im not sure if its possible, but I would’ve preferred in these two instances if they just ripped the audio straight from the old game, even if it wasn’t so crisp and clear… it would’ve been better…
    Im so happy to say that battle for bikini bottom wasn’t just a great distan memory.. it holds up and is just as good as I remember it.. this is how you do a collectathon, and this is how you use a beloved universe… you go all out and deliver an 11 hour epic journey to save the world…
    and even after youre done collecting all 100 spatulas and collecting all of patricks missing socks, battle for bikini bottom offers a new multiplayer mode that can be played both local as well as online.. and well… lets just pretend this mode doesn’t exist… you can play as 4 new characters that you cant play in the base game, squidward, plankton, mr krabs, an gary.. but instead of a fun mini game mode like a Mario party… its just wave based battles that feel like busy work.. see it more as a bonus boss battle than anything.. one that you can play with a friend.. and one with no feeling of life…
    but back to the main game… Battle for Bikini Bottom has always been a must play game in my opinion, and with rehydrated, you can finally play this must play and see what all the fuss is about for yourself in the modern age..

Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is an excellent 3D platformed that suffers a lot from sloppy coding and poor use of the very powerful Unreal Engine. Each level of this game is well crafted and offers a lot to do with many side quests that actually feel rewarding. The controls,, I would like to state that I have not played the original Battle for Bikini Bottom. Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is an excellent 3D platformed that suffers a lot from sloppy coding and poor use of the very powerful Unreal Engine. Each level of this game is well crafted and offers a lot to do with many side quests that actually feel rewarding. The controls, although clunky at times, are pretty solid and are better than most other games in its genre. The game's main collectibles, Golden Spatula's, are very scarcFirstlye but rewarding and not to difficult to get your hands on. Earlier on in the game, I found myself clipping into the sides of objects and being stuck for multiple seconds and a buddy of mine had an issue where his whole screen would go black and the only way to fix it was to restart his game. Not only did the black screen glitch happen once, but it happened twice. My only other complaint about the game is that the game takes between 10 and 20 seconds to respawn you after you die or when you are loading into a new level. This is almost unbearable and I hope that, if anything gets patched, its this. Overall, the game is a very sold experience and is the best 3D platformer since Super Mario: Odyssey. I would recommend this to fans of the genre and people who enjoy lighthearted, casual fun.… Expand

    No lie if it wasn't for the fact that doom eternal came out this year I would say that this is the best game that has come out so far it's a very faithful remaster and is severely underrated by all of the games journalist for no reason don't listen to them listen to me it is a masterpiece of platforming the only game that's released in recent years that compares is Super Mario Odyssey its a 10

    For what it sets out to do, I think this is a wonderful remake. With the promise to iron out bugs and glitches, I think this is a fantastic new look for one of the best licensed platformers of the early 2000s.

    Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is a nice remake of the original, and brings back the cult classic with only a few scratches during the landing. The visuals are nice and colorful (although some areas like Goo Lagoon can be oversaturated at times), the dialogue had nice quality (the developers reused audio from the original and just "upscaled" it to fit in withSpongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is a nice remake of the original, and brings back the cult classic with only a few scratches during the landing. The visuals are nice and colorful (although some areas like Goo Lagoon can be oversaturated at times), the dialogue had nice quality (the developers reused audio from the original and just "upscaled" it to fit in with the HD environments, which is totally fine), the gameplay is neat and decently fun to control, and the music sounds pretty good (again, reused audio that was upscaled which is fine). I haven't experienced any game breaking glitches in my playthrough (as of Patch 1.02 and Patch 1.03), and had only one frame rate drop which happened in the multiplayer mode. Speaking of multiplayer, it's the biggest gripe I have with this game. The game was not built around horde mode based combat with dozens of enemies all firing at once, and this mode proves that point. I played it all the way through with my little brother, and the only enjoyable part was the satisfaction I got from beating it. Honestly, it feels really tacked on, which is a shame as every other part of the game had real quality to it.

    Overall, as a person who didn't get to experience the original, Spongebob: BfBB Rehydrated succeeds decently well as a remake. It's an enjoyable time, and the only real problem is the lackluster multiplayer. I recommend this game to anyone looking for a decent 3D collectathon, or any fans of the original. Just stay away from the multiplayer, and you'll be fine.    … Expand

    Unlike Final fantasy, Spongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom-Rehydrated is a true remake of the original. Although it does suffer from some long loading screens.

    I have a weird love for this game. Licensed video games have a bad reputation for being a cashgrab using familiar faces from tv shows. The original was a great 3D platformer featuring locations from the Spongebob tv show. In this remake, you will find a multiplayer mode (a bad one) and updated graphics. It doesnt feel like a game from the PS2 era, it aged really well.

    SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is a faithful remake of the game originally released in 2003. The game has great graphics, multiplayer mode, extensive levels and collectible items. However, it is worth noting the low level of difficulty in the story mode and considerable falls in frame rate at sometimes. Still, it is a great choice for lovers of 3D platform games.

    A perfect example of nostalgia glasses. In short, this may be a hidden gem, but it is completely representative of its time. 2D Platformers have long moved on, and this deserved some overhaul to the core gameplay, instead of just a graphical improvement and a tacked-on multiplayer experience. The soundtrack is a perfect encapsulation of the game as a whole. Utterly charming for the first few moments, but then each track repeats again. And again. And again. One note. Those who enjoyed the first may find themselves questioning why they did, should they dive into the murky waters here.

    Battle for Bikini Bottom felt as much a battle to play at times as it did to defeat those robots. It’s great to see a cult classic get a fresh lick of paint, but style over substance just isn’t enough.
